  1. I am not a F1 fan but I doubt that is true. During the days of say Vandwall ? British cars were BRITISH RACING GREEN, and from memory we seemed to do OK then. The change to multi colours, British or not, has more to do with brand colours and owners IMO. Perhaps someone like Lucifer can comment on this, being a F1 fan.
  2. I thought they would be when we first opened up, but found the same as you. Put the little flyers in the box at Feathers Caravan site, and I can't say it brought one punter through the gates.
  3. Not forgetting that the wonder wheel also skims off a top layer to bring the dirt into action, and take the small ruts out.
  4. My future father in law played for the same team.
  5. When we first opened up at Newcastle in 1997, we got Wulf jackets purposely designed and made by Wulf sports. All was well till a rider noticed that Wulf sports have a green laurel leaf crown and WORLD CHAMPIONS on the lefthand breast of the jacket. He handpicked it off because of the bad luck thing. The stupid thing was he was our representative that agreed the design with Wulf.
  6. In the 60's, I used to play league darts in Byker, Newcastle. In one pub they used to pass around ham shanks with a price sticker on. If you wanted it, you looked up, and someone would nod to you and the sale was done. In another, a Dulux ? colour chard would be circulating, and you chose your paint, and the guy would approach you. The paint would be delivered same place next week, just as long as that colour was being painted in the ships that week in the Tyne Shipyards. In the pub I played for, you would see a puppy on a long string and a brown label with a price on it's collar. If you wanted it, you tugged the string and the bloke on the other end came over and completed the deal for your new puppy. All this happened with the 'nice girls' on the bar high stools, with stickers on the soles of their high heels. Happy Days.
  7. Yes, and Tom Brown, a Welsh lad, rode in green with the Welsh dragon on them.
  8. Quite agree pp. A great effort today from a committed group of people who have worked all through the winter, with only a break for Xmas. Todays efforts means everything is in place and ready, and as Alan Hedley said late on, we could have hosted a meeting at 6.00pm. Minor items to do next week, so if anybody fancies a trip to Brough to give us a hand, you would be more than welcome.
  9. Interesting, but weren't cinder tracks looser and less predictable, that the smoother and slicker shale tracks of today. BTW Re a previous post of yours, it was Peter Thorogood who prepared the track at Sunderland for Len.
  10. Do you really believe that the BSPA, given what has happened lately, likely to push their luck having just rescued the situation and sport. Dream on. Even an avid BSPA hater is not that stupid.
  11. How was that an example of my team being less than 'whiter than white' being defended in ultra defensive mood. Again a desperate jibe.
  12. I await with interest an example that you have accused me of. Desperate jibe.
  13. Of course it is, when you are caught out again.
  14. Ignoring of course that May announced an illegal team to the supporters meeting, despite he had been told before that meeting that it WAS illegal. Now that's twice in two years.
  15. Weather forecast is good for Sunday, so if those who are coming for the 11.00 staff meeting want to come for 9.30am, there's plenty of jobs to do. See you all there.
  16. And none of them have got money tied up in the sport. So it's other folks money that they would rule on. And your talking about anarchy.
  17. Which is exactly why the UKVI entered the issue last year.
  18. That's the case. It was thought that it was a bit stagemanaged at the time, and too obvious it was Bentley in the wings ready to rejoin the team again.
  19. Still another 2 to pick. Cook and Kerr possibly ?
  20. I doubt it. Can't wait to go back again to concrete starts, that'll bring them back eh.
  21. Think you are right, but was in use before that. The Berwick one I think was Peter Waite trying to put Paul Bentley back in shortly after the first League Cup meetings. It was a bit obvious.
