  1. Depends on if the meeting has already been decided, how the reserve #2 didn't score in his other two rides, whether reserve #1 has a working bike, etc. It's not aways apparent what goes on in the pits.
  2. i do. I would much prefer to get a wrong decision once in awhile based on predictions than arrive at a stadium, let into the stadium paying the £16 and then being told it's cancelled and i can come back to a later meeting(Plymouth yea right). The best guy for calling off meetings is Len Silver and he has saved people thousands, and hours of time, by calling it off before fans have set out for the meeting. Think of a meeting at Somerset, and afterwards going to our hotel at say Swindon. Len rings and says weathers a bit iffy but would come back on in the morning. 10.00am he rings back saying meeting off, based on usually reliable forecasters, which then allows you to change your plans, and drive back at a leisurely pace straight home. Back home before teatime with no hassle. The alternative, drive like mad to get across London, eat on the way, bloody traffic, and get there to find the meeting is off, bloody promoters don't care, blah blah. That happened to a trip once to IOW, but at least it was early enough to allow us a nice night out in Southsea? and not getting on the Island, and have a wasted visit to the track. Give me predictions everytime. I personally use a combination of BBC, Met Off, Metcheck and XCWeather.
  3. As disappointing the crowd was last night, you have to factor in how many fans didn't go, thinking earlier that there was no chance of it being on after all the rain. I don't buy into it being a meaningless fixtures, as it was worth a go to see if our team could get a big result over a team that does not usually perform at Brough, and didn't have their best team out for various reasons. As I said in a previous post, we had some bad luck with falls especially to Kerr and Ludde, and Kerr would normally get something like 12 so that would have been a chance of making it a bit more exciting toward the end. With the performance and good will of a depleted team performance against Glasgow last week, it could have been expected that a decent crowd would have to come to see off Sheffield. The weather ruined it and many thought it was either off or too bloody cold again. Whilst there is spare points available, yes we could strengthen up adding 2.5 on anybodies average to get back to max points. Whether a suitable rider could be found is another matter, and like last year, we could be chucking the baby out with the bathwater like we did last year to Christian, who was the unlucky one. Noone(except Steve) in the team has actually performed to their full thoughout this season, and surely when most of them do, we will deliver the away wins that we need to get into the play offs. Kerr, Rose, Christian, Ludde, Anton especially are capable of bigger scores, and some have probs that are identified and being worked on(Rose's engines). I think when Kerr's stops his falling off(for both the Diamonds and the Stars), Anton gets back upto speed, and Christian sorts his clutches out, we won't have much to worry about either home of away. We have already raced against 3 of the top teams at home with 2 wins and a loss(mainly due to Masters not getting excluded) so relatively speaking we have the lesser teams to go, with the exception of Somerset. What we could all do of course is make an attempt to try and bring a friend, who is not a current supporter. It is a proven fact that the newbies who come with personal recommendations, are far more likely to return than promotions and advertising. As Glyn Taylor used to say when he promoted in OZ "bring a friend to hang on to".
  4. It would have been if Kerr hadn't had a 'mare. It was only a couple late heats when they unexpectedly made great gates that kept the score decent from a Tigers point of view. It was, but it was a great performance even to get the meeting on with all the rain that fell on top of the previous rainfall. Didn't see Josh, Konopka, Birks or Jason complaining about the track though.
  5. All sports have unusual rules. There is usually a good reason why they have them, but people don't listen or want to listen.
  6. He'll always be 'a rookie manager' unless you give him some experience. Messenger would have been a rookie at some time.
  7. We cancelled the training session this morning to allow Jonny and his team a chance of getting all the water off, and for the track prep. The last rain was forecast for 10 but we have just had another shower. The good news is that the sun is forecast for basically the rest of the day, so there's a good chance, given the time before the meeting, that all will be well.
  8. Unfortunately HA only does cynicism, and plays devils advocate these days. Adds very little.
  9. A thrilling win tonight, to go with the TOON survival result yesterday. To be fair to Kozza, i don't think he has ever had a decent meeting at Newcastle. He tries too hard locking up, and then picking up drive, and it just looks like too much gas at the wrong times. Nick used to be the same, and his father did say he hated Newcastle and couldn't get the hang of it, but he did tonight, and was smooth and well in control. A good performance from Christian was due and very popular, whilst Rose eventually woke up for his later rides, and looked again like the rider we had last year. If he continues like tonight, he will be very popular at both Newcastle and Swindon. I think if Sargeant had ridden tonight we would have got beat by about 5 points, and he would have been the Tigers match winner. Stevie a little flat in a couple of races, and massive efforts from captain Ludde after his first ride fall. The track was superb tonight with stacks of dirt and grip giving rides the opportunies of the outside run, and the surprise line this year of tight on the bend coming out of the corner. Great to see the travelling Tigers, who always improve the atmosphere during our meetings, and long may it be so. Sorry to miss regular visitor Paulco who had to go into work today.
  10. Lovely weather here, sun beaming and a canny day all round. Been at the track most of the day and it's had new shale on again, it's billiard smooth, wet and with fantastic grip. It's the best it's looked this year.
  11. For those Glasgow fans who are intending to travel down to Newcastle for this one, the weather forecast is 13 degrees all day and no sign of rain at all. See you there.
  12. There seems to be plenty of instances mentioned, which would give credibility to that statement. Would that be the Stevie Worrall that Masters had a few words with, after he had been beaten fair and square at our place last week. So no denial that his behaviour was not acceptable and against the rules of fairness in our sport (your own supporters have provided the evidence without being asked for it.) So after agreeing and admitting to Masters disgraceful behaviour, admitting he was guilty, and was fined by the referee as a result, you come back with an assassination on me as if I have stated anything untrue, when the evidence is included in your own fans posts. WOW. Next thing is you will be saying you can only comment if you are a world Champion, like the discussion we had on Cook's attempt to team ride, but then excused yourself of such a restriction. Get owa ya sel. As Midnight Lady has bravely and correctly said, she can't condone any rider hitting an opponent when sitting down or prostrate on the track after an incident, and nor should you. It is/was a cowardly act from a rider with form, and should not be accepted behaviour by anybody whether BSPA, club official or a fan. You really must try and grow up. Obviously your judgement of what went on, seems to be a little jaundiced having supported and defended Ryan Fisher for so long.
  13. Only believing what you want to believe. I'll take the word of your fellow supporters who WERE there.
  14. Shot yourself in the foot again. How is there "unsubstantiated guff", when in the previous para you admit there was a "Masters irrational outburst". Also the evidence provided by fellow Monarchs as their take on the incident makes you look the fool.
  15. i didn't see the World Cup in '66, but i believe it happened. Your own fans are telling what happened, and they are pretty consistent as to what happened. Are you the one with the whitewash.
  16. It warrants a ban in practically every sport, except boxing and cage fighting.
  17. Masters has a habit of rabbiting on after a pass, after the race. He can't take it, and whinges like a child, then he changes his line dramatically and stuffs our Ludde into the fence last Sunday, and he's king of the pits afterwards. Utter prat. BTW Why did he leave Somerset ?
  18. I think it was Newcastle , Berwick and Worky.
  19. I wasn't going to mention that.
