  1. It's Brady on one replay, but all the side on shots make Dimitre look guilty of laying on Brady. Tough call.
  2. Don't know and don't really care. The track was OK and that was the point of the meeting.
  3. It wasn't last year when the Diamonds were at Peterborough.
  4. Kennett, Kerr and Richie W all ended up with 11 points.
  5. Quite agree, but unfortunately certain posters on here never shy away from opportunities to have a go at someone/something. Grand Central as an example. Like others have stated, the availability of the stadium earlier than normal has been used to test out the track prep, given the recent manmade track probs. Riders who would possibly not have had the chance to ride Cardiff ever have been given the opportunity, and that can only be be good for all concerned. Move on, nothing to see here GC.
  6. Yes it is, and we need to overcome your 16 point advantage from the away leg. I think we will win but it might be a bit tight. We need all 7 Diamonds to be on song now they are all back, if so we might just steal it.
  7. Turned out to be a decent meeting, especially when Kyle or Todd was in it. All Diamonds doing the business except Christian who seemed to be struggling. The heats when Kyle was in were fascinating watching, remembering what he was like with us a few years ago and now adding class to his usual exuberance and not giving an inch. In his best races he overtook out top men to get his wins and was a constant threat in each heat. He has come a long way and added class to his armoury and on this showing IS a genuine number 1. Todd was surprisingly good, but failures once again from Fisher and the total whiteliner Risager. Many races were opportunities to get 5-1's in due the three man lineups before the interruptions of Kyle and Todd taking points. Our thoughts go to Benko and his family on their family trouble. Good shows by all with decent returns from Kerr and Anton. If this form continues I can see decent wins through the rest of the reason, given that we have met all the top teams at home now so it should be a bit easier on the nerves in future. If we can get lucky a couple of times on our travels, a playoff qualification might just be within our reach. Here's hoping.
  8. Agreed. In this particular case I think we should all cut Plymouth some slack.
  9. But wasn't it announced by Roy over the mic that Trigger had rung round everyone in the area, and nobody was able to take the ride at such short notice. Even my own junior Gems riders, two were injured and unable to ride whilst the other one had just put his engine in in prep for our next junior meetings. It's all very well for the smart arses on here to heap criticism of Plymouths predicament, but when the full facts are made available they might want to regret being so critical. But on the other hand...........
  10. Quite agree. I can't explain where the tight line across the 4th corner has returned from, from the days of Walsh, Pepe and Compton. Long may it be there, but often it is the opposition that finds it first and our riders take it to block their racing line.
  11. Never fail to have a go at Newcastle do we Martin. Team was selected before the combined fixtures of Newcastle, the EL teams and the fixtures for the Swedish teams, but you expect and criticise a promoter for knowing who he could sign to avoid situations like at your place last Thursday. The only persons that should be looking at themselves is the likes of armchair critics like you.
  12. Worked for me. Married 46 years, and waiting for remission due to good behaviour.
  13. Notice how Sam tried to blame Nicki for both reruns, when plainly it was ride in blue setting out to push him wide. Sam works quite hard to makes us think that he is trying to be fair to Nicki, but his first instincts about him always come to the fore. In the second rerun the rider in blue had two attempts to unseat him, and the head-on cam showed the deflection of Nicki's front wheel, when Sam said Nicki had just ran out of room. Why do TV stations employ such a biased and non English speaking commentator. Great racing in the Final BTW.
  14. One thing for sure, the footage of Greg running and launching himself into Nicki, is bound to be used for a "what happened next" proggie. Bet nobody gets's answer A.
  15. Definitely might have been different if Ulrich had been excluded after he kicked Kerr off his bike as they were rounding the 4th bend. Dozy ref obviously didn't see it. Anyway, it was an entertaining meeting with some excellent racing, and resulting in Ulrich and Barker afterwards saying "thanks" for producing the best track they had ridden at Brough. We need to get back to a racing strip that pleases the home riders, rather that opponents and it is being worked on. After a reckless first ride, when I thought he was trying too hard and nearly fencing himself every lap, Robert was superb and was your match winner. Hard to realise he is still 17, but comes across on the mic as a tad opinionated and best at his age to concentrate on riding than slagging others. A good meeting, but unfortunately a let down result wise after the Ippy away win.

  18. After the away win at top team Ipswich last Thursday, I look forward to a cracking meeting against another title favourite in Peterborough. Losing Allen was a big blow for them, but having the comfort of using guests more suited to some circuits has cushioned the blow of losing him. Allen is not that good at Brough, either arriving sick or being withdrawn due to shoulder popouts. Been very unlucky and Barker should improve on Allen's normal contribution. We have a full team once again and signs are that most of our riders are improving their form. Just hoping we can get more away wins, to help us flirt with the top teams, all of them have now ridden their meetings at Brough. Decent weather might tempt a few more fans out and watch the improving situation. After the meeting we have the Gems against Northside Stars. After this afternoon's great win against Castleford(riding at Northside) it will be interesting if the Gems will be able to hold a very strong Stars team, who also won against Berwick this afternoon. Hope the ref can get through the meeting quicker than normal and see over 2 hours of 21heats of racing. Bring it on.
  19. Got to give you credit for a spot on assessment. There's always the usuals, isn't there. If you look also at the Coventry V Poole thread, it is nearly all "those who don't attend" pontificating, the same set of non attenders that make up the group known as the Poole haters. Compare the names with the prominent posters on the Darcy Ward thread. Same posters. Don't attend, don't add to the sport but determined to criticise at every opportunity. The sport does need criticising at times of course, but some criticise just cos it's their nature to for their own gratification.
  20. Once the early heats were over, Graham Flint the referee, really knocked on with the 2 minutes, and we had an early night. The 'we' I refer to is the track staff who finished and left the stadium at 9.30 whereas it is usually nearer 10.00.
