  1. And the promotion, for asking what was plainly wrong.
  2. Very true, and they don't have to brag about it. It is a common misnomer on the BSF that promotions don't promote, most do and put a lot of effort into it. Problem is you never know if you gain support in the longer term because of it. Despite that, you have to still do it, to keep it in the eyes of those that might come because of it. I am doing shows, schools, presentations practically every week with my show bike and reaction machine, and sometime I have to turn some down when double booked. Not that critics on here would give promotions qudos for actually doing it.
  3. You can reflect on anything you like, but the world is a different place, with more social activities and expectations. Nothing you can extract from 'reflections' will point you in the direction of a speedway salvation.
  4. How is that relevant to today's problems. Those days and gates are gone, it's a different world now.
  5. It's £25 per night this year, and I had 37 rooms booked for both Fri and Sat.
  6. Quite agree. A great hard racer who went onto the track to win, and not to win friends. And look how he is still admired today.
  7. Agree. There was a light nudge, but Kilderman was in control, but after a couple of metres, he decides to slide off very easily. Beware Peter.
  8. Christian Henry will return to number 2, with Kerr and Rosen being at 3 and 4.
  9. NO, and that's not what I said or implied, but you knew that. As you say, in a roundabout way, you agree that hard working people who have put large amounts into an entertainment business are not going to easily accept an independent person/committee to tell them how to lose more money. But obviously you and a few others think they would be stupid enough to do so.
  10. Obviously more than you, as you are unable to explain how you think it would work. Another empty vessel.
  11. Sadly it is you that hasn't a clue about the management of a sport financed by the promoters, decisions made by them, and you suggest they get removed and let someone else with dignity govern the sport. Pray tell how you remove the owners of clubs with their agreement, and allow an independent to advise/rule on things which could lose promoters money.
  12. Because it is being used in a different context. Should we now ban James Dean's iconic film 'Rebel without a Cause".
  13. He went for a gap that was there against Zagar in a GP, and still got the blame when Zagar closed the door and leant on him. Zagar catapulted into the fence, and then tried to attack Nicki, but Nicki got his revenge in first. Good man Nicki. Ironically, the other riders were split on opinions, cos Nicki and Zagar are probably the least liked riders in the pits. Go Nicki.
  14. Very difficult to get people to man the pits gate and do it right due to expectations of those in the vans. It is a common problem to most tracks, but the only place that I think who does do it right is Berwick. Independent people are given a list of people to be admitted and if you are not on it, the onus is on you to get in touch with someone to vouch for your admittance. It is not a pleasant job when you do it right and a lot of pits gate personnel just let people in than have all the bother and have to look for someone in authority to give permission, or support the gate person The best idea is to dock the rider for extra people in their van, but a lot of freeloaders are not always with riders. Anybody thinking that Freeloaders will pay when stopped coming in, and then put money into the club in future meetings is seriously deluded. Most are more likely to slag off the promotion for all the time and effort they have put into the club(titter titter), and never come back again unless they can concoct some scam like buying a rider something, and think that being a sponsor should allow them to come in for nothing all season. Actual case experience with that one.
  15. Oh Dear, are you Montie in disguise. You have to remember that there are different track sizes and shapes determined by the premises that they happen to be it. We can't all have a blank canvas and end up with the finest track size, shape and preparation that you Scunny fans are lucky enough to drowl over. Plenty of fine racing at Brough, if the away team is up for it, or remembers to use their throttle hand in conjunction with a brain.
  16. One of the forums best and most well known characters, she was at times too open and others used that as an opportunity to get at her. First met her and Sandie in the Walkabout in Cardiff she was exactly what I expected, and I was not disappointed. Niece of Ted Hubbard, the ex rider, she was well informed in Speedway and in fact one of her twin boys rides in the British Youth Championships. RIP Shazzybird.
  17. Rain did not turn up during the night, but the forecast sunny and warm conditions have. Looks to be a scorching 20 degrees, and the track is brilliant for some decent racing. Lets get behind the team and hope to see then go through to another strong draw in the next round.
  18. I see you only post when you think you have something mildly important. Hence the reason for only 117 posts.
