Rolling, Moving And Jumping At The Start
Tsunami replied to SCB's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There is no inconsistency, except the judgement of the referee in each case. There are guidelines to refs who have to try and ensure a fair and equal start. Every instances of how to achieve that, and all the other guidelines of explanation of the other racing rules, would make the rule book multiply the rule book several times in size. And guess who would then lead the mob complaining about the rules book being too big to understand. This is a non issue, consistency of the ref is the real issue. -
Who says there is no rule. It IS a rule between promotions, and a registration holding club can stop a rider from riding elsewhere, hence the reason why you are not allowed to contact a rider first. Don't make things up to support your own weak case.

And in the Semi, he dropped a chain before the start. Who didn't put the clip on the chain link ? -
A fantasy statement given what I have posted above.

With an alleged £4,000 fine if he didn't honour his Polish contract. -
Bad cough you got there. Where was your rider coming from that we didn't sign. How cheap do you think Lambert was, as we did try to sign him. Would you have dropped Aarnio to reinstate Rose. Are you doubting Teo being injured. Who would you have put in the team instead of Carr last night, as George couldn't get one guest out of 17 riders, contacted even offering to fly one in but still no. Dead easy this forecasting lark on this site without actually doing it, isn't it.

Yep, and it happens, and is punished, in the sprint events at National level, where the reaction time is electronically measured. Why should it not be punished in Speedway as well. It is punished, cos it is cheating. -
Edinburgh Vs Newcastle Plkoc, Semi, 1st Leg, 4/9/2015

Agreed, and see my previous post as to what is going on to stop the need for foreigners. Problem is already being tackled and has been for at least two years. -
Quite agree. Brum are looking after the interested of THEIR supporters in trying to field their strongest team to hopefully bring success/trophies to the club. Good on them for thinking of the fans. As the Somerset meeting was a friendly, there are stacks of rider who could ride in their place. You must be struggling, by bring Tai into it. Irrelevant fact. Much more chance of them getting injured on a speedway bike, but you already know that.

But Neil, when they did tackle the problem, and introduced the Fast Track system, they were roundly criticised as it being too late, and it would not work. This despite both Poland and Sweden having an identical system to bring their riders on. The shortage of riders has been well known for the last couple of years, and leagues have been diluted accordingly. Again criticism that we should be going in the opposite direction, and should be spending more imaginary money, and bringing back the big guns in the EL. Promoters can't win regardless of what they do, but you must know there is a lot going on on a weekly basis to help help kids riding, getting experience and being good enough at some time to take a team place. Look at the NL, NJL. MDL, training schools, the new Poultec apprenticeship initiative, second halfs, the British Youth Championships(incidentally a round is on tomorrow at Redcar. There are kids riding your track every week as well. A lot IS going on and will eventually bring more British youngsters into the sport, if they are given track time. -
There are links on the BSF which will take you straight to the interview.

There are rules in all divisions about using someone else's registered riders. If one of these riders had been hurt, the same people saying it is pathetic, would be the first to condemn the situation and complain about not following rules, and therefore knock the sport. Instead the rule infringement is correctly reported and the usual suspects say that is pathetic. Giv ya heeds a shake will you.

Thing is, who do you drop to put Lewis back in. It would be a waste of points to put him in as either Christians or Kerr's replacement. Assuming that the current team is our current 1 to 7 declaration, could Rose be included because he was an injury replacement. Think it's best to leave the team as it is as, apart from Plymouth, we seem to be holding our own at the moment. -
I was aware of that and not directing my points at you. Sorry.
-
Thing is it they can improve Chris as a rider, everyone will want one.

Neck Brace Mandatory ?
Tsunami replied to Navigator1900's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Maybe not for speedway, but there must be data from it's other use, and that is to protect falling workers on a building site. My point was that it surely is a non brainer, that given a choice, a rider would wish an air fence every time to give him protection. You don't need data for that, just good common sense. -
Sadly for you NO. Our start marshall was on holiday, and his deputy in Poland. Our planned replacement took ill in the morning, and the other startline personnel not trained/qualified, so Jim stood in to wear the lycra. He was going to use Heathers gear, but the top was too big and the bottom ridiculously too small. Looked the part mind. Had the hope that he would do what that OZ guy used to do twirling the flag, jumping up and down whilst flagging the winner in, but possibly not Jim's thing, eh.

Not sure about "he wasn't on loan to Berwick" comment. When you loan a rider, you either stipulate a period(like 28 days), or a whole season for which a scaled payment is calculated and paid. If Barker moves on to another club, it is Berwick that holds this registration for all of the season, and for who gets the new loan payment from Peterborough. The only difference being if Berwick, and Barkers registration holding club, have agreed a reduced loan fee, and handed Barker back to them.

God, I remember them when I was a teenager, and that's a couple of years ago. -
Another brilliant meeting and result last night against Glasgow. I think we all knew it was possible, only getting beat by 6 at Glasgow and taking our form the previous week against Redcar. Sure enough, the aggregate scores were level after only 2 heats, and the chase for the points was on. Great performances by all Diamonds, with amazing tenacity being shown by Simon once again to pip others on the line. He really has come on this season, especially bearing in mind the bad time he was having at Sheffield. Combine his performances with the consistency of Aarnio, and you have a hell of a backup to the main team members. After last weeks track, it was always going to be difficult to get the track as good, but Jonny and his team managed it, with just bit of dust at the end when the tie was already decided. Summers can be very up and down anywhere, but last night was the best I have seen him ride. His tenacity, possibly riding against Richie, was there to be seen, but it was nice to see them shake hands first time out, and have a little chat, before returning to the pits. Nick was up and down, and the gater Lawson seemed easy meat, even when he did gate. Our gating was superb, and when not, there was usually a pass to come within the first lap. Moment of the meeting was Summers drifting wide in the lead on the forth bend in heat 14, and riding along the fence shirt for 4 panels at speed, and then clipping the kick boards on the home straight, resulting in right hand lacerations, and probably bruised nuts. Took some balls to stick with it and not get thrown off, but I think he will consider himself very lucky to get away with it. Spoilt his max, but he came home safely and that is more important. It is just a pity that we started the season with rainoffs, injuries and freezing weather, which together did real damage to the crowd levels. It is nice now to see some return and witness the Diamonds on song and entertaining like we hope they can. Incredibly even scoring across the whole team last night just shows the strength in depth we now have, ignoring Fridays horror show of course. At the moment we are good value over two legs, and if we can continue this form, who knows we could topple the Smugs, and reach our first final and silverware of the year. Here's hoping. Nice to see ex Diamonds/Glasgow riders in Jesper, Walshy and James G in attendance last night.
