  1. As I said, we will see. And I also said they don't need to make a comment, doesn't say they won't.
  2. We shall see. It would be the Machine Examiner actuality. Ref never looks at them pre meeting.
  3. SCB don't need to make any comment, as the result was called on the night by the ref, so that's that.
  4. I think it is just as well that SKY do run the meetings for TV live transmission. I really don't have confidence that promoters appreciate, or could, keep things running to a satisfactory timetable that would keep SKY happy. Anything 'live' and the clock is king, and long may it be.
  5. Yes he was in the pits, but the 'spare' refs at televised meetings all have coordinating roles to assist the meeting to go smoothly. Doubt he would have been watching the monitor, and it is obvious Graham wasn't either. Sad that some go here are trying to lynch someone, when it is plain that a genuine mistake has been made.
  6. I think it was for a Cup comp, but the principle was that finals bring out the crowds.
  7. Not sure now, but I only know that Whitley Warriers and possibly Billingham are the only teams still playing. The Durham Wasps were top dogs with the Warriers but they lost their rink probably over 20 years ago. It's part of a big redevelopment i think.
  8. Quite agree it can be all about cash. But not just for those in the PlayOffs, as there is also the previous league meetings which, if won, can get the team into the playoff positions. We were vying with Worky to try and get the 6th position mid season. It is another interest to heighten the pressure to qualify. As you say, most modern sports do some sort of PlayOffs which then brings in extra fans in extra meetings. It is a double whammy for the good. In Ice Hockey when I was involved in that at Newcastle, the teams competed to get into the knockout weekend. This was 8 teams I think, who then took to the ice over a two day weekend, and a champion team was decided. Fans from other ties used to go the other matches, and created a carnival atmosphere all the time. The fans bought everything and spent a fortune, but what great weekend it was when it was played at the Metro Arena Newcastle. Was it about money. too bloody true it was, and everyone donated with a smile on their faces.
  9. Quite right. The only exception is finishing with a defective exhaust or fitting.
  10. BWitcher will probably claim that the Start Marshall supports Poole. Desperate.
  11. Don't need to read it on here at all. Getting out and being busy, is strongly recommended to people who need to take their minds off other things, which might be someones death, injury, depression, anxiety, etc. Of course it if doesn't fit your prior bias you will not accept it. BTW Had any news on getting that evidence to prove that YOU did not LIE when you said "Dak's Dad is fit and well" Thought not LIAR.
  12. Which was why I said you would need a medical note or alternative agreement like permission from the SCB, to justify the absence. In cases of compassionate leave, stress, anxiety, etc, it has to be a fair assessment given the circumstances. Not by majority from some BSF's voting on it.
  13. Well said. I would have 'like this' but I have ran out of them this afternoon.
  14. Very frustrating and as you say, he usually has good gear, Sean Wilson engines and now testing JAWA again. He must get as frustrated as us, and if he knew the answer he would surely do it. Bit worrying at times that he can top score with say 13 points away, and you think that must be his type of track, but maybe gets a 4 pointer on his next visit. One thing I do know is he tries, and if he was a Newcastle footballer at the moment we would be cheering him. That's my team at the moment as well. Just need the same points limit, but I can see that needs to be lower next year to spread the riders around a bit more.
  15. No 'we' are not, so don't you invent things. Compassionate leave, stress related, etc, in any industry or sport has always been available when certified by a medical person. Get over it.
  16. Too right he would because it would suggest he was mentally OK with the situation and, like playing golf later, proved that people with stress and emotion need to occupy their mind and time. Of course he didn't top score, so he had a sick note. Time to move along. Probably one of the most relevant sentences in this whole debate.
  17. I did worry about his first two races, when he slept at the gate, but overcome one of them and blasted his way around in the others races. He was a street ahead on one, but would not shut off, a bit like Jesper used to do. Only knew how to go flat out, as it he didn't he might fall off. A very underrated captain and rider, who cares what he does, but it doesn't always work out.
  18. Supporting Rye House, you are not likely to now there has been great concern on the terraces for a couple of months that we could not go on like this and were likely to close. The conversations ran parallel to other rumours of other Northerly tracks, especially Berwick but for slightly different reasons. Fortunately with more recent local meetings, and the team performing brilliantly at home, there has been a significant increase in the crowds which has given a lot of encouragement and a much happier atmosphere. The deal has taken a long time with big concessions on both sides, and was believed to being finalised only last week. If as you and others have said, it brought in some dosh for the last meeting against your select team, so be it. It could of course not been agreed and signed, and announced after the season finished, but i do know that the promotion were determined to finalise the deal before the season finished, so they could give the good BIG news to those attending first hand before the season ended. True it wasn't finalised then, so should not have been announced by the dogs side. Just to add to that John. All the others you mentioned made a lot of money whilst at Brough, usually in halcyon days. When George and I opened Newcastle up in 1997, and since with other co-promoters, not one penny will have been made as profit, the intention was always to break even, or to keep the losses down to a personal manageable figure. That in itself is one hell of a performance in a sport with declining crowds.
  19. The final details of the deal were only finalised back end of last week, so your contact was a bit premature to tell others of the deal a month ago.
  20. What a doom and gloom merchant you are. As of tonight there would not have been a contract in place that allowed us to run speedway at Newcastle. The announcement was to inform, and confirm, that the promotion is prepared to run speedway at Brough, and with more favourable terms after some tough but fruitful negotiations. So it is changing despite your stupid comment. With some of your 'shock' comments, I think your boss probably already thinks you are bonkers. Live in the real world, not the dark world. This agreement was needed before any commitment could be made to the BSPA about us running, and informs riders that we are running and there will be team places to be offered. It also confirms to fans that have a team to watch next year, don't you wish Newport could say the same eh. This had to be step one before signings, league participation, and future plans could be formalised. It may be not big news to you. but tough. Why shouldn't there be. There has been rumours of not running posted on here, and other social media, so the announcement was to formally announce to those who are more important, and actually go to our speedway. To ignore it, some silly critics like you would possibly has said 'there should be some formal announcement'. So there has been, so you can move along now, nothing to see here.
  21. I think Aaron has got better, and more reliable/consistant, as the season has gone on. His riding at Brough a few weeks ago, was the best I have ever seen him ride, and we tend to see him more that most with him being a North East based rider.
  22. Oh Dear, what a surprise statement. So unexpected from our non attendee.
