  1. All at the expense of losing some tracks. Stupid idea.
  2. And there goes a good number of tracks down the swanny. Just to standardise tracks which would still be different from other countries tracks. Different is good, why not Sheffield and Plymouth in the league. Stupid idea.
  3. Exactly, so why go on about forcing clubs to say two nights. Let the promotions run on the most convenient night for their track.
  4. It is very easy to manage a business and make big money when the sport is popular. They didn't invest anything back into the sport though. Most of todays Promoters put their own money in, and subsidise the sport to keep it going, whether the fans deserve it is another matter.
  5. Quite agree. Once again uK martin jumps in with both feet and misses the target.
  6. Tracks are usually prepped all day and have a decent racing line from heat 1, despite what Stoke Potter says. After that the racing naturally throws the dirt toward the fence, the inside then becomes bald with no grip and. unfortunately, the dirt on the outside next to the fence becomes too deep and dangerous to ride in. As with the GP's, to overcome this it is necessary to bring the dirt back in to the inside to try to maintain the same grip all over the track. As others have said, track rakers used to help with this by raking the dirt away from the fence for the tractors to collect and distribute. A meeting with no grading would be dangerous and have boring racing. As least if the dirt is brought back to the inside, it gives different racing lines which should make for varied racing lines. The best track prep during a meeting that I have seen was at at Rye House in the early 00's. After every one/two races, two small tractors came out and did about two laps, both bringing the dirt back and also putting a very fine mist of water on, which gave the most consistent track possible throughout the meeting. That would not be possible these days with minimal interruption to the meeting, as the tractors would not now be allowed on the track till all the riders have cleared the track from the previous race. H & S.
  7. Agree. The BLC was devised, and agreed by the PL teams, to give EL teams meetings when the GP's were on. Unfortunately that did not happen, and the extra point they asked for meant it all possible.
  8. The concept of the BLC was to give the EL teams extra meetings, without using GP riders, when they would be riding in the GP's. After the 36 points were agree at the AGM, the EL came back and pleaded for it to be 37 points to be competitive, and low and behold, GP riders were reintroduced and meetings held on normal non GP nights.
  9. It's no good when you are drowning in the garden swimming pool, to look at the grass and think I should cut that next week.
  10. Quite agree. The 3 number 1's team, who did the treble, were a one off. In the early 90's numbers were continuing to fall.
  11. That's just rubbish. Crowd numbers have been declining for the last two decades. Part of the reason the fast track system(copying both Poland and Sweden) was to bring youngsters on, as well as cheapen the wage bill.
  12. And if they don't change rules they get the same complaint of being complacent, and fans pointing out what upgrades they should have done. Other than the likes of you, most people go to speedway to see 4 blokes racing around a track.
  13. Bit like fans on here. Some accept lower points limit as good for the future, and others expect Promotions to blow their brains out trying to afford top riders that those fans demand.
  14. Oooops, that sounds like Masters these days. Depends on which coming together you are referring to be, if it's the when Nicki kicks out(Malilla I think) , it was Zagar that came together on third bend with Nicki going for a gap that DID exist. Zagar hooked onto Nicki's bike and got propelled to the fence, and then tried to assault Nicki. Nicki kicked out and went to the pits, and was then accused on here that he had rode his bike into a mechanic, when the rerun shows nothing of the sort. When they return to their pits areas they are big boys to each other, but what do you expect in a high tension situation. But all you remember is Nicki shouting at Zagar. Ha ha
  15. Like telling a rider not to travel like. Allegedly
  16. Yes, it cost us the PL title that year. We won the 42.50 league, but the Monarchs won the 44.00 league.
  17. And not for the first time in his career. He has incidents at Redcar(Lasse) and twice at Newcastle(Larsen and Ludde), when his whinging indicated that he can't accept reality, and wants to moan and do something he shouldn't do. No doubt the Monarchs Press Officer will be on here shortly to cover the Grinners back for him. Time for the Grinner to grow up.
  18. Great effort today to finish off all the close down activities for the 2015 season. All 40+ air panels were removed, scrubbed, dried and stored, along with the 40+ skirts. All the kickboards were removed on the last three weeks along with the back straight mesh. Everything tidied up and looking good. A great effort by the usual reliable team, who give up their spare time to help keep Newcastle Speedway running. Many thanks personally from me, and looking forward to putting it all back in February, in readiness for the start of our 2016 season start in late March. Dave R
  19. Sorry to hear this, but had expected it sooner than later from his recent Facebook posts. RIP Bob.
  20. The AGM used to be about the 27th November, but this year they have brought it forward and already have most items discussed at a Pre AGM meeting. The season officially hasn't ended and could overlap the new AGM, and yet you still moan about it, when other countries seasons have actually finished. FFS.
  21. Before becoming a Promoter Ged ran his own team called "Motive" for riders Carl W, Danny Philipps and Oustergaard.
