  1. To be fair, Viktor must be given time to settle in after getting a team place so late. He will do a decent job I am sure. Not sure it will be in the same score that Teo would have scored, but that is no longer a possibility.
  2. Quite agree. Disappointed with the result against a team with doubts against it, and not even finished strengthening their team yet. Why is Scunny such an impossible task for us, beaten in every 21 visits. Carried 3 riders today. Should pull the deficit back, like we have in other home ties, but this should have been a banker.
  3. The free meeting at Lakeside has been reported on here many times. Exceptional crowd for the free meeting, and vitually nil increase afterwards. I don't think it was televised.
  4. Agree. Many years ago, in either Nottingham to Leicester, the public transport halved the price in an attempt to get more people to use the busses. The numbers returned to normal after a little while and the initiative was scrapped. Remember for it to work you needed double the bus users/attendees just to stand still, which is a risk nobody in business would consider. It is just myths proposed by others who don't know business, and certainly not being the ones that take the risk of those panaceas of success. In addition to the examples that you quote, remember that Lakeside did a 'free' meeting and got something like a 4000 crowd, but the next week the usual numbers turned up to pay the regular price.
  5. Yes, and probably the reason why no announcement of guests. Hang back for as long as possible, given the weather forecast, or wait in case BV didn't hold their meeting for other reasons. It isn't hard sometimes to plan strategies for doubling up, if you know what you are doing.
  6. Quite agree. His light went out many years ago, so he may as well switch the pc off and stop acting like an annoying old tw&t. Here's hoping.
  7. I was vey surprised at his scores in his initial period at Glasgow, even allowing him having to ride at number 1. I couldn't believe it was the same rider who scored quite well and was the leading U21rider. His last meeting at Brough(might have been his only meeting) he showed a lot of promise when he sussed out how to ride it. I think we will have to be patient with him, but I am sure he will kick on from now especially riding with, and being captained, by a fellow Swede. Welcome to Viktor, it will be interesting what nickname he gets from Roy on the Mike. My thoughts are Pavlova, giving others their just deserts. I'll close the door on my way out.
  8. I just mentioned that to someone last week John. I can't think of anything other than if the shale is different. Agree we have seen some great racing, the only concern was when Worky came first time, and we couldn't gate and we just hung on for a two point win. Think there might be a injury replacement possibly for Sunday, to let them bed in for Monday. We will soon see. After the main meeting, there is a NJL meeting to follow between the Newcastle Gems V Redcar Cubs . Teams are :- Newcastle Gems Josh Embleton Jack Flynn Archie Freeman Jack Wright Redcar Cubs William O'Keefe Gavin Parr(on loan) Alex Goldsbrough Corban Pavitt Let's hope the weather behaves.
  9. Confirmed by George REDCAR IS OFF. Stay behind on Sunday after the main meeting. We have all local riders and last year there was more people staying behind after the meeting to support the kids. They weren't disappointed and I regularly was stopped and told from other fans that they were pleased to see the kids developing. Last year we were bottom of the league, but we appeared in some cracking meetings both home and away. This year a lot of the other teams riders have moved on to bigger things, whilst we have retained the 5 riders we had all last year with a return to his home track by Jack Flash Wright. With backup from Gavin and eventually Dean, we will win meetings this year and give good entertainment with even more track time. If you want come and see me on Sunday.
  10. Remember he nearly lost his life at Newcastle when a bike part pierced his inner groin(femoral artery). and he nearly bled to death.
  11. also I think Mike Parker in the 60's. Bloody hell. I ran the Gems last year with at least 6 meetings against Northern teams after the main meeting. You must be one of the early runners running to catch the bus. The return leg against the Cubs takes place on Sunday after the Diamonds V Redcar meeting.
  12. Don't forget that after the Bears V Diamonds meeting, is another mini meeting between the Cubs V the Gems in the NJL. All local riders and some canny racing at both 500cc and 125cc level.
  13. Some on here are stuck with the idea of covers will regularly save meetings. There are so many factors that have to be with you to make them work, the main one being able to find enough volunteers to put them down at a minutes notice and then stay on site after the calloff or meeting, and then taken off the now heavier covers, which will need cleaning and storing before they are next used. In addition, the meeting might be saved, but if it is still raining like tonight, the riders vision is impaired and it is unsafe to ride and race. The rain has to be predictable and end at the right time to have even a fighting chance of getting the meeting on. Why save the meeting if everyone thinks it won't be on and stay at home. Far better to save the doubtful covers costs, pay for professional weather forecasts and call the meeting off as soon as it is probable that it will not go on. The same critics who complain about early calloffs are probably the same critics who would complain about the quality of racing and having to stand in those conditions. When you are on a tour or travelling long distance such as the North to Stoke/Plymouth, an early calloff is cheaper and very considerate to the away fans.
  14. Is that BelleVuegate you are talking about, or Hillsborough.
  15. I think you will find my gang (if I had one ?) is bigger than yours. Lets start with the 6000 that attended, and a vast majority of your average speedway fans, as opposed the handfull on here from BV putting up the fences. I will leave this debate before you and your little gang does more harm to the BV cause and Morton and Gordon.
  16. I was at the Redcar training day on Saturday, and Havvy was giving some of his riders plenty of track time, particularly starts and 1 lap. Riders were Bukhave, Jonas, Bellego and Ben Basford. Bellego was riding the best. See tomorrow whether it has upped their game.
  17. You and your cohorts on here, do Belle Vue a disservice trying to push the blame for this disaster along like a copper at Hillsborough. Morton and Gordon have publicly said, and now agreed, that the track was not fit for racing, and it was only afterwards the real condition of the base was been found after the two recent excavations. They have sensibly taken their time to get the track ready to race, in conjunction with the council and their contractors, and very soon the track will host a meeting to prove it is fit for purpose. Why can you and your friends not concentrate on these positive things and look forward rather than rewrite the events leading up to the GOM. By this rewriting you are all dragging it all up again, and I am sure at this point in time both Morton and Gordon will be hoping that they can get on with the future, and enjoy the investment that a few, not me, thought would never be built. I wish the stadium well, and applaud their recent efforts, but you lot dragging the excuses around do not help their cause.
  18. Yes, but I thought he was being sarky expecting Lewis to do better after 11 +1 wasn't good enough. The title is Newcastle V Workington.
  19. The new 1-7 would have had to be received by the BSPA offices probably on Wednesday morning as you need 3 full working days for it be cleared.
