Top 20 Riders In The World 2016
Tsunami replied to waiheke1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Should that now be 13 with Emil announced. -
Maybe in this case yes, but the backlash of this and it's consequences could make FIM officials a bit more lenient in their treatment of powerful sponsors and their contracted riders. That's not good for the sport or certain opposition riders, i.e, Nicki. As speedibee says, there are far too many hangerson in the GP pits who add nothing to the show. Think back and remember the Holder clan getting stuck in to support Chris a couple of years ago. Nicki's ex girlfriend, preening herself and taking selfies during GP's and even in Swedish TV meetings. Sponsors could/should be penned in an allocated area adjacent to the pits, but not inside it.

Robert will be available.

Which Speedway Clubs Are Making A Profit.
Tsunami replied to Sherborne Green's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Those figures John are for licences to operate and run the meetings/club. The £10k mention used to be the bond figure for the PL teams, but I think it has doubled since I left as a promotor. The EL bond is greater and the NL lesser. Whatever the bond is, you can used a bank bond or a reasonable value of assets to cover the amount. If you default and/or quit, the assets are transferred to the BSPA, who will act for the rider and sell the riders on to the interested parties. In 1997 we bought Jesper Olsen from the BSPA having taken over the assets of maybe Wimbledon/Eastbourne. -
Yes, Somerset is one big oval.

I doubt if there will any complaints from other tracks about a change to Saturday nights. On what basis can they complain. Edinburgh are not competing against them on that night and they could be satisfied that their Friday night is not now being challenged. Other tracks like Berwick and Worky are way outside the protection of the 35 mile radius, so nobody could have a challenge IMO. It does leave us then as the senior Sunday track so less racing on our off night of Monday.

Speedway Riders - Employment Status?
Tsunami replied to Little Thumper's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think the correct term to use is a promotion holds "the registration to ride in the UK". That is what is loaned or sold to another promotion. A rider is needed to sign to change clubs, and gets 10% of the transfer fee if he hasn't actively asked for a transfer. -
The track would have been red.(and lovely and smooth).

Well, it's that time of the year when the track work starts to close down the track. Initial jobs to do are to remove the kick boards and store them, plus washing the air fence panels and storing them in the containers. We already have a group of willing workers who help out every year, but if you fancy joining us this year you would be most welcome. We start this year on Sunday 6th November at about 9.30am, and work thought till it gets too cold. Old and warm clothing is essential, and scram and hot drinks are on all day. If the weather behaves itself, we should get it all done by mid December. Don't worry, its not really hard work, but with a good team together, the jobs get done in no time. Hope you can join us this year. Dave R

Somerset V Sheffield 27.10.16

Well done Somerset. -
I think that the Lambert's are delighted with the way Newcastle have treat them and returned the favour. Recording interviews for the 'Meet the Rider night when he was out of the country. Must admit he has played a full part on making the relationship work. Of course, Newcastle have always treat riders right, hence the reason why riders are always keen to come back to us.

First meeting in 1949, but seriously started when Newcastle reopened in 1961 in the Provincial League, Diamonds versus Wolves 38-40 I think. Been going every season, but unfortunately for me I was doing other things in my life during Joe and Tom days, so missed most of the glory days at Newcastle. Family, and my own sports careers, took preference, but I always attended the first meeting on Easter Monday and a handful after that.

Usually a fixed agenda, with a general meeting on the first morning all EL and PL attending discussing the previous season, agreeing the final green sheets and celebrating the competition winners. In the afternoon the leagues split up to their own meetings and discuss and agree on items which were agreed at the preAGM meeting for endorsement. Same with the second day, but having to come together for joint decisions which affect both leagues, which need to be consistent. Third morning, both together again to discuss new common issues for debate. Any current team, not continuing in 2017 will leave the AGM at lunchtime on the first day, and if you stay after lunch, you are deemed to be running next year. That is the usual format for the AGM and there is no known reason why it won't happen any different this year. The alleged drinking at the bar, and allegedly getting pissed, only happens in others minds on the BSF , and could only start after business for the day has been concluded. it is sometimes long days, and I remember the Honda debate in 1997, for the 1998 season, went on till nearly 10.00pm.

Somerset V Sheffield 27.10.16
Tsunami replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Certainly I didn't rate it, even when Somerset for once got the averages right. The difference, as well as the youngsters, is the steady scoring of Tungate as well as the notable improvements and consistency of both Charles and Starke. Starke had a late dive in his form, but now appears to be back in the grove and justifying his number 5 spot, which a lot of people would have though was beyond him. Somerset for me with an easy home win. Don't believe in third time lucky. -
Sad day when Tony does retire from the sport. He has always been there to help speedway, when many others could or did walk away. A genuine guy, who unfortunately will probably not be followed on by his son, who i believe does not have the same interest. Tony will be a massive loss, going about his business in his usual quiet and caring way.

Crazysue And Speedway Updates Texters And Updaters
Tsunami replied to jrs's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Just like to add my thanks to Sue and her team of updaters who provide such a great service for fans who can't make it, especially for our away meetings. Long may you continue. -
I think it is not this weekend but next weekend. The final Green Sheet averages are checked with each club and the final sheet for this year will be approved and issued at the AGM.

But I am bigger in other areas.
