What Makes A Good Team Manager?
Tsunami replied to Bigballs's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Really. -
Yes. Alan had about 4 riders sponsored with very distinctive black mudguards, with a series of sponsors in blocks down the guards covering the front forks legs. Also the fork cover was black with Ham Racing in green dots. I have them on one of my bikes. The Riders who were sponsored were Scott, Tai ?, Auty, Wrathall. Possibly Joe Haines as well.
-
I believe Alan was hired as an official for SKY TV meetings. He was usually seen in both BV locations when on the tele.
-
I can see 4 of that team signed. Robert or Steve ? Clegg no chance. Robbo, elsewhere possibly Sheffield Knight ? Tero, possibly if guaranteed fit
-
Yes. There is an common agreed rate paid to riders, which is no way near the actual rates in their contracts.
-
I remember him really struggling and talking to HalifaxTiger about him, as he had seen a lot of him presumably at Mildenhall/Kings Lynn. Sheffield used him as a NL guest in 2016, but never caught your eye. It was suggested he should replace Danny at some time during the last season, but others doubted he would be an improvement.
-
I am certain that Knight would be a 2 as his debut in the PL was not good, Sheffield in 2016 I think as guest.
-
Yes, and it's presence was behind the difficulties of putting speedway back in to the Odsal by Tony Mole. It is for select guests/hospitality, but being squarely across and on the 3rd/4th bend, it would have been sprayed every race if the track could have been fitted in. At least at Sheffield, the hospitality boxes and pubs are some distance from the track with a dog track and supporters between them and the track. It would be very wrong IMO for Kyle to be sold. Having not ridden for them at senior level, I think he should be a free agent.
-
The BSPA take control of the riders as assets. Interested buyers/loaners contact the BSPA office and deals are agreed, with the monies going to the original promotion or to pay off internal debts.
-
And who wants to be at a meeting rushed through in great haste to finish within a hour. Dream on, the meeting needs track preparation and some sort of purpose, rather that a rush to get the punters out of the stadium as quick as possible. If it was tried it would possibly put people off attending another meeting. Hardly in speedways interests or the Fans. Minimum time would be something like 90 minutes IMO.
-
Could that be seen as a positive decision. Given people think that the owners have history, and looking for an opportunity to dump the stadium and get more houses on the site instead, why would they bother altering anything that they were hoping to scrap.Lets hope it is, but even 5000 is more than enough really.

With the expected exodus of some big names from the EL, and the current shortage of British riders hence the guests problem, the Premier League needs to employ lower order riders to improve the situation, as well as reduce costs.

Rory Schlein like.

Like KB ?

Doubling up was originally devised to enable British riders to stay and ride at home for extra meetings, to save them needing to go abroad. Like now, there was a shortage of British riders of a high enough quality to fill our teams, so it helped them and British Speedway. Unfortunatley, the youth schemes/initiatives bringing on and getting team places, has naturally not supplied up and coming riders in sufficient numbers yet, so if we stopped CH/Prem DU's we wouldn't have enough riders to run the leagues. Not yet, but after being accepted at the AGM, the list will be published in the same file. It won't be much different though, as practically all the meetings held were for Cup or Play Offs so don't count toward the averages. Wouldn't you.

Yes, I am sure that he is not so uninformed and stupid as he appears, whist thinking he is entertaining.
-
Was the move of the track not to allow the old track to still be used, whilst building the new one. i think others on here couldn't understand how racing could continue if both tracks were using the same land.
-
Eventually yes, But in the meanwhile those that don't know, will bring in unknown or untrue 'facts', debate what might not be true, and use the whole fiasco to ride their own particular horse for good measure. I don't pretend to know all the ins and outs here, except what happened in the week before the opening, but some of statements being made are just not true and some not even relevant to the main issue. Hows about waiting to find out more what really happened and/or might be going to happen, before some on here find themselves in a court of law. It's not big to invent things and point the finger about issues and events, that we don't know with any certainty happened. All we do know, or can surmise, is the development was badly handed from the beginning, and there needs to be some sort of compromise commitments by many to keep the development alive.
-
Maybe he is just pissed off.
-
It didn't work in 1997 and didn't work in the test meeting at Kings Lynn in the Autumn. Too many nominations and difficulties when a rider is missing/injured.
-
Ignoring the fact that fans on the terraces, and on the BSF, have consistently said it was stupid to have Premier below Elite. The BSPA have now bowed to their wishes, and get criticism from the likes of you. At the end of the day, does it matter a jot what it is, but if it keeps some fans happy, then so be it.

Newcastle Speedway Track Work, 2016/7
Tsunami replied to Tsunami's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If only I drank. Ironic that after the forecast for Sunday deteriorate since about Wednesday, after I sent my text out, and put the cancellation on here and Facebook, the forecast is now light rain instead of heavy rain. Still too wet but. -
Newcastle Speedway Track Work, 2016/7
Tsunami replied to Tsunami's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Please note that the track work planned for tomorrow is CANCELLED due to the wet conditions, and also the heavy rain that is forecast for tomorrow. We hope to start the winter sessions next week, the 13th Nov, starting at 9.30am. See you there. -
Funny though, this one probably has been. Business seems to have gone smoothly, possibly through agreements at the pre AGM meeting, and the press release was released about lunchtime on the third day, when it has always been released late Sunday night or even first thing Monday when held over the weekend. Mind you I think there was an understanding that there needs to be more agreement between them with the problems that we are faced with. Could be of course that some of the old fractious characters are not there now. I have been to many AGM's which weren't really pleasant at times. What's that story about a bad apple in a barrel ? Forever moaning turns others off even when enjoying the racing. It's still 4 riders racing around an oval after all. Likewise. As said on another thread, speedway fans must be the worst fans for dissecting and complaining about their sport, when in essence, it is still basically the same product on the track. And long may it be so.
