  1. Oh well, that's all right then. If it was written all over his face no need for him to make any oral or written apologies. That's good enough for me...er....
  2. Go on then, give us a clue. What did he say?
  3. He rode over Ole's foot as well? A bit clumsy for an elegant rider, wasn't he?
  4. I think you've been in Germany too long.....
  5. As far as the delay goes, we have been led to believe that the reason for the delay is that Ward's legal team were challenging the alcohol test and the way it was undertaken. I don't know if that is true but if it is, then surely some of the blame (at least) for the delay is down to Ward rather than the FIM?
  6. Just because you're paranoid, pugwash, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
  7. It means he serves a one year ban and then is allowed back to race. If he offends again during the second year he will then have to serve the second year ban immediately as well as any extra punishment he might receive. If he doesn't offend again during the second year, the second year punishment is expunged.
  8. A pretty good score for a rider who only ever rode one match.... I'd go along with the Ken Sharples theory.....
  9. I was there on 11 May 1960 for the Britannia Shield match against Norwich, my first speedway meeting. And then very frequently after that!
  10. Just back from the WSRA lunch in Norwich. The general concensus from people who think they are "in the know" is that it'll be a two year ban with one year suspended. But how much they are really "in the know" I have no idea....
  11. Looking forward to meeting all my old Norwich pals at the WSRA dinner in Norwich this Sunday.
  12. Over many years of watching speedway, I've seen them come and seen them go. The greats retire - Ove Fundin, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger, Hans Nielsen, Tony Rickardsson - and we move on. As in all walks of life no-one is irreplaceable. Yes, we might miss them for a very short while, but we move on to see the new stars. It's been happening since 1928 and will no doubt go on.
  13. People have been complaining all the time about Bomber being picked. In fact many people have been complaining about him even this year when he's actually qualified. Mine was not an anti-Swede comment in favour of Brits. It's the Poles and the Danes who have missed out.
  14. Both THJ and Linus Sundstrom are commercial picks and very little to do with finding the top 15 riders in the world to contest the World Championship.
  15. I'm sure someone can put me right here, but weren't wildcards intoduced when they ended the qualifiers just to stop Andy Smith qualifying year after year?
  16. The talk at the end of last year was whether Jarek Hampel would be champion in 2014.....
  17. Maurie Mattingly was third. He had 12 points, the same as Trevor Redmond and lost to him in a run-off.
  18. You're such a spoilsport, Phil. What will the conspiracy theorists do now?
