  1. Totally agree Tocha. When I read Lens statement about just a "No. 1 and a Reserve to get" I immediately thought we are gonna be well under the points limit then (AGAIN!!). Its a No. 1 and a 6 pointer we need and thats if we do go for a 10 point plus No. 1 like Kennett (which Im not convinced we will). Surely Garrity at reserve (with Kasper) has got to be a bonus? It would be foolish to have Garrity in the main body of the team with a three pointer at reserve and be two points under the limit! .... but based on the last 2 or 3 seasons teams it wouldnt surprise me!!!!!!!
  2. Uncle Len in his end of season speech last night said that next years team is basically sorted subject to "dotting the i's and crossing the t's" !!! .... and it will be "one of the youngest teams he has ever assembled" !!! So does that rule out Ollie Allen, Gjedde, Lanham, Doolan etc etc?? I would say Mellgren (6.47), Bunyan (5.14), Garrity (4.79) & Kasper (4.28) are pretty much nailed on leaving just under 22 points to play with (assuming the limit is 42.5 again). IF (young) Nelson (5.33) is included that would give us a whopping 16 points plus to play with for the final two riders. Correction 14 points cos Len's teams are always at least 2 points under the limit!! So which two youngsters could they be???
  3. At least if they get injured in the early part of the season we will be able to replace them with a rider who has an average of upto 2.33 points above the injured rider. Just like Doyle for Boxall last season.
  4. I dont think everyone who is moaning about the points limit is knocking the riders selected. Im not and I will back them during the season. Its the management that is annoying people by continually selecting teams way under the points limit. I am certain that 90% of the PL teams will have a team strength of less than 1 point below the limit and we will have the lowest averaged team. To me thats not acceptable. Its like saying to Arsene Wenger you can have Van Persie up front and him saying "No its ok I'll stick with Bendtner". And dazzawoki saying that Bunyan is on an "absolute bargain average" is true but that bargain average is of no use to us now cos we havent used the points his artificially low average has saved. We may as well have signed him on a 7 point average. I find it hard to belive that any Rockets fan would not want one of the 7 riders named sacrificed for a rider with an average that is over 2 points greater! I will back the riders selected but Im annoyed by the fact that we are throwing away the chance to have a stronger and hopefully more succesful team.
  5. Has the 2.5% reduction for British riders been scrapped now then?? It certainly hasnt been deducted from the Rockets riders averages (Nelson excluded of course). If that reduction still exists we would be a whopping 3.2 points under the limit!!! We could then sacrifice Hawkins or Bowen for an 8+ point rider instead of only a measly 7+ point rider!!! I will keep dreaming!!
  6. Yes Im excited by Garrity and Bunyan but why oh why are we nearly 2.5 points under the limit again?? It so annoying!!! Great move signing Bunyan on a low average but its of little use if you dont use the points youve saved!!! Neath, Frampton, Nelson, Bunyan and Garrity are fine but we should have sacrificed Hawkins or Bowen for a 7 point 3rd heatleader. Is it just me or can no one else see what a wasted oppurtunity this is (for the 3rd season running!)?? I can just about accept Len being loyal to his riders during the season but why he does it when building a new team to a level so far under the limit I will never know (or accept). Ah well as Len said last year "If you dont like it dont bother coming" - maybe I will take him up on that a few times!
  7. The above averages are subject to the 2.5% British reduction (except Nelson) so by my calculations we have approx 6.5 points to play with......and we need to use them!!!! So no Garritty or Morley but a decent 3rd heat leader please. Despite his past record on these matters I really cant see Len going for Morley and being a whopping 3.5 points under the limit. Surely not. Boxall would fit of course (not that I would choose him) and we'd be a point under the limit but I would have thought if it was Boxall Len would have already named him. So come on Len lets have a decent exciting 7 / 7.5 (with BP's) point rider to get the juices flowing again.
  8. Are you really going to stand on the Rye terraces shouting "Come on you Hawks"!!! You remember the "Ronnie" days Shads back in the late 80's when Hackney were our biggest rivals like Kings Lynn have been during the last 5 years. I couldnt stand them (particularly Andy Galvin ). Theres no way Im going to start supporting them now..........and as for buying Hawks clothing, programme board etc - Im ashamed of you! Sorry but can only ever support Rye House. May watch the odd one out of interest but wont be attending many. Shame.
