  1. Absolutely correct, both riders are now on the Ipswich Retained List. They have both signed contracts which commits them to Ipswich until 31 October 2012. After that time they become free agents and will no doubt sign for the promotion that will pay them the most money.
  2. Let's not forget Young Poole. An excellent nine point haul, and a highly creditable seventh place overall in the meeting. As others have commented, it is far too easy to read too much into a few Aussie results, but none the less it augers well for the season ahead.
  3. Don't let the good folk up at Shielfield Park hear you, as they are convinced thay have the best reserve pairing in the PL!!! All wil be revealed in March / April......but I know who my money is on!!!!!!
  4. Reading this thread and many of the others, I do find it a little surprising the number of riders that are being tipped to end up with a nine plus average. I wonder what's going to be so different in 2012? In 2011, just three riders finished with averages above 9.00. Indeed there were just another ten whose averages topped eight. I'm sure that mathematically there must be a finite number of riders that can end up with averages at this level. I consider that teams that will be successful, are those teams whose collective averages increase over the season. I don't feel it unreasonable to expect all the Witches' riders to put and extra 0.6 on their averages, with the possible exception of Tres whose 6.87 looks about right. Against this a target of 2.60 for the Heeps boy, would match the expectations of Tungate. If these objectives were achieved the team would have a final collective average 46.75. Last year Glasgow and Sheffield finished on 45.24 and 45.84 respectively. So if the 0.6 increase per rider were to be achieved Ipswich wouldn't be a million miles away.
  5. Didn't she own a horse called Shergar? Or was that someone else?
  6. Not at once. As I remember Heats 1 to 13 remained the same, Heat 14 was a re-run of Heat 2, and Heat 15 was, as it is now nominated. I'm sure those with better memories will correct me, Heat 12 was 1 & 4, Heat 13 was 3 & 5. And happiness was 40-38, which is a proper speedway result!!!!
  7. " Beware of folk who quote Ezekiel 25:17 and Alan Dundes on the same day"!!!
  8. Well done, you finally worked something out, without it having to be explained by way of a patronising children's story. I knew you weren't as dull as others would have us all believe!!!!
  9. I tend to take what's on that site with a very large pinch of salt. As Witches fans will confirm, a couple of years back, a certain Darcy Ward appeared on the confirmed line ups section for Ipswich, only for the rules to change and his name disappearing almost as quickly as it appeared. Indeed I think that the teams as listed for 2012, may well change. As I understand it the MC are still reviewing some of the line ups, and have yet to formally sanction some teams. So time will tell.
  10. I think every track should have OFFICIAL TRACK PHOTOGROPHERS!!!!!!!! Or perhaps it's just a Welsh thing???!!!
  11. Or to paraphrase Urge Overkill: "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" Cue Dick Dale.........
  12. Seeing as four of the riders are the same, you can only compare the changes. Young Bjerre had three PL outings against North last season, with the Aussie finishing ahead on each occassion. The real question is how the reserves would fare against one another. From what I've seen Heeps is certainly should be capable of getting the better of Hart and Mills. I have yet to see Tungate in competitive action, so any comparison has to be entirely subjective, but based on his reputation he should at least be the equal of both Hart and Mills. So on paper it has to be the 2012 team. But as we have said before, very little is won on paper!!!!!!
  13. Yes they are related by marriage, but they are not related to each other, which was the point I was making in the first place. As I said, before if you are happy with your family antecedents, then I'm delighted for you. However I do hope that you weren't the individual that I overhead on Compost Corner a few years back, " I'd like to you to meet my wife and my sister", he said ".......and here she is!!!!"
  14. You really are from Norfolk!!!!! I certainly wouldn't argue with a dictionary, just the person that attempted to use it. There are many dictionaries and even more definitions. I would choose to use the following: "belonging to the same family, or group" The Marriage Act 1949 ( since amended ) is quite specific in that it is prohibited for related individuals to marry. It then goes on to specify those related family members that are prohibited. Whilst second and third cousins can marry legally, it is often frowned upon by the church and some medical opinion. So on balance I am very pleased that my parents were not related to one another, but if you take the contrary position, then so be it. It certainly explains a lot!!!!
  15. I think you wil find that there is a very specific word for parents who are related to one another. Also I believe it's a criminal offence. Well if yours are, then I think that now explains a lot!!!! From your comments I had a suspicion that you were likely to be a very strange Norfolk person!!!!
  16. Just another piece of information that might provide your comments with a wee bit of credence and authority. Fact.....more people came through the turnstiles at Foxhall in 2011 than did in 2010 in the moribund NsEL. Thanks for the invitation to Compost Corner, but I never feel that comfortable in KL. It's probably down to the fact that my parents were not related to one another!!!
  17. Well yes and no. I thought you were being ironic.....but no worries as between us we packed off that Deadbeet back to Compost Corner!!!!
  18. Agreed Nick Simmons got nothing out of Hart!!! Probably just as well that he's not a team manager!! Definition of ignorant: "lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject" Point proved me thinks!!!
  19. Yes it does actually, very proud indeed. True, last season Ipswich were made pre season favourites, but only by the ignorant and ill informed.......perhaps a little like yourself???!!! Most Ipswich fans targeted a top three finish plus perhaps a trophy. Job done. Of course there will be those, in the wake of last year's success, who will be expecting even better. Let's hope they are right, but if we achieve the same level of success as last season, then I for one will be very happy indeed. Mind you I'd be even happier if we see a team providing exciting, exhilarating, and entertaining racing, irrespective of any league or trophy success!! Yes your probably right, as I think the 4TT Trophy is silver plate as opposed to solid silver. But in speedway I think most would regard that as silverware......but clearly you set much higher standards!!!!
  20. Interesting concept of "big under achievers"..... Finishing third in the League, and 4TT Champions. If that's the case let's hope they under achieve and choke again!!!!!!
  21. Good idea Dave, I might even give my Tigers Replica Shirt an airing, just to make them feel at home!!! Certainly wouldn't want to put up a cricket pitch, as this might impact upon their self confidence!!! Howzat???!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Effectively all of them, but nobody ( apart from those involved ) knows for sure. You may care to go to the following link, to bring yourself up to speed: http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=68543
  23. The final piece in the jigsaw is announced............. Fargo Bismark ( Dakota North ). Even with all the averages currently being reassesssed, there is a good margin built in to accommodate any "goal post" moving.
  24. A few tweets going around that the team will be announced in full tomorrow. If true, this will tie in with Dakota North's comment that he will also say who he is riding for on Friday. So 2 + 2 = 41.27????!!!!!!!! Interesting to note that all the averages in the "confirmed line ups" section on the BSPA website have been removed both in the PL & NsEL sections. Me thinks something is afoot!!
