Remember - "He's not the Messiah he's a very naughty boy, who tried to get into the event without a ticket!!!" All right, but apart from the "the Witches Winner" , "the 400 Club", travel to away meetings, organising social events, running the Junior Witches section, organising the Rider of the Season awards, and providing funds to support the Promotion, what have the Supporter's Club ever done for us"!!!! Lovey: Excuse me. Are you the Ipswich Speedway People's Front? Committee Member: "F**k off! We're the People's Front of Ipswich Speedway!!! ...............with acknowledgement and humble apologies to all The Pythons. -

What a strange posting. Not at the event yet offering an opinion as to what went on. Takes all sorts I suppose. I think most long term fans at Foxhall, have always thought of Dave as "special"!!! Few can claim to have coped a right hander from Mrs Clouting, without even knowing who she was!!! -

I think you may need to do a wee bit more research!! The Tier 5 Visa is also the work permit. In order to get the visa a sponsorship form is required, together with a GBE. In respect of Ingalls it appears that the BSPA were reluctant to grant a GBE. However a recent tweet from Ingalls suggests that the position has now been resolved. As for Nelson who knows? There has been a suggestion that Len withdrew the sponsorship form, on the basis that Lanham was a better bet. Purely speculation of course, but a further element of the conspiracy theory was that this was all encouraged by the MC to help to placate the SRA. As long as the speedway authorities in this country continue to operate under a shroud of secrecy, rumour and speculation will continue unabated. -

Personally I have never been a fan. I am of an age when the regular spectator would identify riders not just by helmet colour, but by their leathers as well. Whilst I freely accept that I'm probably in a very significant minority, I find the whole concept of team Kevlars very dull. Personally I found the old race bib was sufficient to identify the members of the same team, and their own leathers enhanced each riders individuality. -

Unless he's changed his set up, he tended to keep his GP equipment with his European team in Sweden. Mind you this may now be different. -

Regardless of what's on the suits, I feel number five is the ideal position for North. Particularly away from home you need to have your better riders at two and three, as these are the only two riders that will have three opportunities to take TRs. Number four is important to provide cover in Heat 14. So in my opinion I would go KD, TP, MT, MR, DK, RT, CH. Probably won't be though!!! I'm sure he was, and good on him. I think most Witches fans would suggest that he always appeared a little overawed when racing for his home town team, and it may be that given the success of his father with the club, that expectations were perhaps set a little too high. Racing for a very small provincial team, like Newport, where the bar wasn't set so high, probably helped him develop as the weight of expectation wasn't that high!! -

If you judge a rider's contribution to the team just on his average, then both Neath and Lanham have better credentials. However as most Witches' fans will testify Doolan brings far more to the party. I would go as far as to say he is the best leader the team have had since Moggo, and with the make up of the team this year, he will probably make an even greater contribution. Neath has always struck me as something of an enigma. An average which suggests a very good rider, yet when you watch him race, he rarely does much to excite. So very competent, if not a little dull....which also sums up Lanham. I think most Ipswich fans know enough about Lanham to form a valid judgement between him and Doolan. Just my opinion of course, as is the view that Doolan will show a greater increase on his average over the season than the other two. -

One has to ask, just how reliable is the BSPA website? The Rye House and Tyson situation is particularly interesting. On the BSPA site Tyson was shown with an average of 5.33 and all the rest of the Rockets had averages attached. According to the BSPA website: "Teams with rider averages against them have been declared and officially approved by the BSPA". It now transpires that Tyson's paperwork hadn't been approved, and his place on the BSPA's website line up is taken by Leigh Lanham. It doesn't provide a great deal of confidence, does it???!!!! -

The situation regarding GBEs and Tier 5 Visas has taken an interesting turn. Kenny Ingalls, one of the riders rumoured to be having Visa issues, now appears to be missing the "start" of the season. Taken from the Workington Times & Star: http://www.timesandstar.co.uk/sport/comets/workington-comets-star-could-miss-season-start-after-visa-blunder-1.932707?referrerPath=sport/comets This is now beginning to look a little ominous. I now feel it's becoming more and more likely that Ipswich are going to be forced to make a change. Although I really do hope that I am proved wrong. It's a real pity that there has been no official announcement from the BSPA. Correction: Ipswich averages have now been added to the BSPA's website, so it looks like everything is now OK. -
Spot on Dave. The draught beer at Rye House was never anything special, I would have thought tins may even be an improvement!! From memory though the pub outside the stadium did a more than acceptable pint of Abbot Ale plus the Fulers London Pride was a pleasant enough brew.

Governing Body Endorsement. This is required to get a Tier 5 Visa. There are a number of threads where this has been discussed in more detail, so if you would like more information try the following: http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=69061&st=30 Sorry, that really doesn't make any sense. We know that certain riders already have had their Tier 5 Visas approved, clearly meeting the BSPA's GBE requirement. What of course we don't know is what the BSPA's GBE requirements are, as they have not been published. The BSPA website is quite clear, stating in refreshing unequivocal terms the following: "Teams with rider averages against them have been declared and officially approved by the BSPA. Others will be added when they have also been declared and officially accepted by the BSPA". -

As it is only a rumour, which hasn't been confirmed by any of my usual sources, it would be unfair to put this in the public domain, in any detail. However in outline, the rumour is that the BSPA are looking at the GBEs for four riders. In addition they are examining the proposed assessed average of a fifth. This followed pressure from the SRA. I must stress this a rumour from an unconfirmed source, and I have been unable to get any confirmation as to it's veracity. -

Whilst the delay, and the lack of official information about the delay, is frustrating, the first official PL fixture is still 16 days away. One hopes that some of the rumours doing the rounds come to nothing, because if true we may all be a little disappointed. -

Absolutely agree. Most bike fans are as interested in the bike and equipment, as much as they in the riders. In speedway the attention is almost exclusively rider driven. -
I was making the point that in open forum that I find it offensive for someone to post that a couple should be put to death, because they hold contrary views to those that post on here. I firmly and passionately believe in freedom of speech, but as with all freedoms that comes with responsibilities. To suggest that two individuals should be killed because of their beliefs, is at best distasteful...but is really cretinous and moronic. I have made my position quite clear. I think the couple were poorly advised, and as a result are, by the sounds of it, financially ruined. However there appears to be those who delight in this couple's discomfort and misfortune, albeit that it may have been as result of their own misguided actions. I hate triumphantilism in all forms. I hated it when a local resident closed down Elfield Park, and celebrated the event with a "victory party". Earlier there was a similar situation when the old Brooklands Stadium was shut. On this occassion the law has fallen down on the side of motorsport, which is certainly something to celebrate. However I find it distasteful in the extreme that we use this an excuse to revel in the misfortune of others, in exactly the same way as those in the past have celebrated that they closed down the speedway. If this is being sadly deluded, then deluded I am!!!
-
So is it really that tricky to say that you don't believe that these people should be put to death?
-
I never said he did. However he did align his comments to someone who did. It really isn't that tricky.....aithough for some it appears it is!! To avoid further confusion it may helpful if John distanced himself from WIE-JA's cretinous remarks
-
Are you being perverse, or are your comprehension skills really that shallow? Clearly waiting for the penny to drop may well test the patience of Job!!!!!!
-
It doesn't and I have never suggested that it did. Please re read the posts again and perhaps the penny will drop!!
-
You guess wrong!!! Mind you if you regard Jeremy Clarkson (I assume that's who you mean!!) as a comedic role model, then I would suggest you need more than a by-pass.....probably a full frontal lobe lobotomy!!!! And for that they deserve to be put to death????
-
It's when the authorities see cretinous comments such as these, is it any surprise they have such a low opinion of speedway fans in general. Agreed that the people who brought this action were poorly advised, and as a result are in all probability financially ruined. To suggest they should be put to death is a deeply offensive moronic comment, for which you should be ashamed.
-
Whilst I'm delighted that the future of Mildenhall Stadium is more secure, I do find some of the triumphalist rantings a little distasteful. Anyone is faced with financial ruin is deserving of our sympathy, rather than the inane gloating of a few contributors. As for the absurd comment above, it is more evident that the British judicial system will assess each case on its merits. In this case clearly the JUDGES (not "this judge"........the judgement being made in the Court of Appeal) felt that the argument in favour of the Stadium was correct. Just because the verdict in this case is one with which we agree, it doesn't necessarily follow that others in the past have been wrong, be it on a technicality or not.
