  1. Jenkins wasn’t Ipswich rising star this year. If he goes back on the list, the selection process means Birmingham have first choice, King’s Lynn second, then Ipswich. With Birmingham likely retaining Flint, Lynn would then be nuts to not select Jenkins. If Jenkins refuses an offer from a club, he’s immediately removed from the rising star list not allowing another club to sign him in that position. He’d then have to hope someone signed him in their 1-6.
  2. Not sure it will be Gav. No idea which way Emil will go, as has been said he’s weighing up Sweden as an alternative to UK next year. I think Brennan stays put as long as Birmingham get the green light which looks likely. There’s a question mark over Rew, and IF Jenkins is allowed back on the rising star list, King’s Lynn will get first dibs if as expected Birmingham retain Flint. We don’t have first recusal on Jenkins as we didn’t sign him as a rising Star this year, therefore he goes back on the list if he’s allowed to resume that role.
  3. He has a decision to make for sure. He’s very happy at Ipswich though Phil, so we’ll see.
  4. Couldn’t disagree more. They lost the title last year after leading by 18 after the first leg of the final in dreadful conditions at Sheffield in the final heat of the season whilst carrying an unfit/ill rider (Riss). They were clearly the best septet this year, nobody can argue against it and there is a very strong possibility they would have won both league and cup. It’s clearly the EXACT right way to go and they’ll do exactly the same if the top two are both available and so they should. I’m not sure you’ll find any supporter of any club that wouldn’t want their team to build by have two world class riders leading them.
  5. Well it is, just swapping Dan Thompson with Jenkins at 6 and 7. Caveats with that though, IF Jenkins is allowed to resume a rising Star role now his average has dropped below 4, and whether he’s still available if he is, once King’s Lynn have had their pick. Doyle Rew Brennan Ellis Sayfutdinov D Thompson Jenkins Comes to 38.88
  6. Danny has been a fantastic servant no doubt about it. But Louis needs to read the room here. It’s definitely time to go in another direction. Doyle captain and leading the team next year seems the easiest and obvious decision to make.
  7. He’s making terrific progress. Still on an average that slots him in the engine room as well. Hot property this winter.
  8. Lemon not for the first time, is trying to persuade Rew to join Belle Vue. Ipswich promotion are fully aware, but want him to stay. Rew happy at Foxhall but never say never..
  9. I think that was fairly evident from Hawkins’ interview yesterday. He clearly wasn’t best pleased that they were given the first week.
  10. Yep, just the usual 2.5% Brit reduction would have been enough.
  11. As Ellis said last night, the top two almost guaranteed 25 between them which made the rest of their jobs “easy”. King was fine last night, and I never like using excuses for poor performances and Danny has definitely had some of those this year, but he’s another who still isn’t fully fit.
  12. Without going down the rabbit hole of rules “being changed to suit”, all I’m saying is that there is no such rule or regulation that prevents a rising star graduating out of the rising star system and benefiting from a 25% reduction riding for a different team as proved this year with Jenkins being a case in point. Next year, who knows.
  13. No Jenkins isn’t an Ipswich asset. And Peterborough not riding is irrelevant. If there is a rule that another club can’t benefit from picking up another clubs rising star, then Ipswich would have had to use him on his actual average rather than the reduced average they signed him on regardless of Peterborough riding or not so that rule simply can’t exist.
  14. I’m not sure that “rule” exists. Ipswich signed Jenkins on a reduced 25% average this year despite him spending the previous year at Peterborough. But I haven’t seen any such rule. The only interpretation I’ve seen is riders graduating out of the rising star scheme are given a 25% “helping hand” reduction so as not to be left on the scrap heap. Rowe is a good case in point here. Done very well, and would likely have his pick of clubs on a 3.91 average, but on 5.21, probably not so much interest and in danger of being left out.
  15. Not for me. The correct two were chosen IMO. Easy to say they got it wrong in hindsight.
  16. Having guests “booked” is completely irrelevant. Means absolutely nothing. Sheffield had Joe Thompson booked for the cup final but then Gilkes declared himself fit and resumed his place in the side.
  17. Nobody from Poland had a problem with Emil riding here in last years play offs either. The circumstances this time around are somewhat different as you full well know.
  18. I could be wrong but Sheffield wanted to use him in the Cup final before they realised they couldn’t use him so they probably booked him for Woffinden in the play offs a while ago whilst Ipswich were still hopeful of using Lindgren.
  19. Can only guest for one team in the play offs so my guess is you’ll see him a week Monday riding for Sheffield.
  20. The wound by all accounts was horrific, likened to him being hacked with a machete. He’s had fluid leaking and drains inserted during the early healing process. One fall could open up the wound again quite easily and he’d be back to square one. He’ll be pressured though of course, to ride the Polish play offs. He wouldn’t be pressured here and that’s right. I’m personally not convinced we’ll see him back here next year, but I could be wrong on that. We’ll have to wait and see.
  21. This. You could tell from the rerun he was obviously feeling second hand to say the least. First and foremost you look after yourself.
  22. That’s completely besides the point as you’re probably fully aware. You’re arguing for arguments sake. there is a huge disparity between the riders on the rising star list, that’s a simple fact. There are a select few that are clearly above others. There are seven members of a team, some clubs have done a far better job with their top six than others, that doesn’t mean they’re not disadvantaged at rising star due to having last pick. If a club has one of the strongest rising stars and fail to reach the play offs, all that simply means is they’ve been unlucky with injuries and/or simply made a poor job of building the rest of their side. It’s blatantly obvious to anyone with a bit of common sense why King’s Lynn or Birmingham haven’t made the play offs. You could have a situation next year where a club with the last pick (and why should they get last pick btw simply because they were successful the previous season?) are forced in to picking a rider they’ll likely have to carry. 0,0,0 against Leon Flint or Jason Edwards who could chip in with 4 or 5 points some meetings. So you’re looking at a swing of 8/10 points you’ve got to overcome through an unfair selection process. I’m not a fan and never have been. We have a points limit, let the clubs sign whichever septet they choose within the points limit.
  23. At this stage it’s unlikely Brennan will be doing Championship Speedway. His calendar is extremely busy and he has ambitions to kick on further next year and make a big charge for the GP’s. I’d be very surprised if he rides in the second tier again but we’ll have to wait and see. Not sure you’ll see Ben Cook in the Championship again either.
