  1. The negative publicity isn’t ideal obviously, but that isn’t the fault of anyone at the club. That’s down to a pi$sed off rider who knew exactly what he was doing by going public which has opened up a can of worms that others have now jumped in on including other riders now sticking the boot in. This kind of thing goes on all the time behind closed doors, loyalty is a two way thing. Sometimes clubs let riders down, sometimes riders let clubs down. It’s business but it should be kept in house.
  2. And Doyle will still finish top of the averages
  3. You’re right of course but I think he’s effectively being signed as the reserve and you’d expect them to swap after the first set of averages change and people are just looking a bit longer term. That’s IF Hume even signs..
  4. I think he meant when Holder was riding for Lynn and Buster dropped him after the window had closed after he refused to ride in a meeting.
  5. Easy for you to say that when you weren’t affected. I don’t blame Buster one iota on this one.
  6. I don’t think he did, seems to be the jist. Obviously we don’t know all the ins and outs.
  7. Well it isn’t because that’s just the way it is. If Buster is the owner it’s his final say it’s as simple as that.
  8. Tungate just replied “well at least you got that far” so you can discount him too. Can of worms well and truly opened..
  9. Can’t claim to know much about Rew, but from the clips I’ve seen of his style the Showground should suit him perfectly. Getting a little ahead of ourselves with the other names though but if it all comes off it would certainly be a couple of meetings to get excited about to kick things off.
  10. Totally agree. Fair point. Hawkins likes to change the riding order around on a meeting by meeting basis so I’m sure that would be tried at some point.
  11. That’s one of the trade offs when you go for an 8 point rider when you’ve already got one on 10 and a half. But it’s a trade off I’m pretty sure 99% of us would be happy to take considering who the rider is. You also have to factor in the potential scoring increase of Danny King which could negate the weaker number 6 somewhat. Dropping from second heat leader to third and in to the second string role could see improvement there.
  12. As I said yesterday, the random post out of the blue from someone who hasn’t posted for an awful long time, and the posts he did make are all about Leicester and none on Ipswich or Peterborough until yesterday, makes it more believable to me. I can understand the scepticism because this has been going on for months now and here we are approaching March and we’re still doing it but the chap seems sincere to me. It’s a bit like Mr Blobby the Edinburgh fella who hardly ever comes on the Premiership section who came on here and said Ipswich had signed Keynan Rew. A fortnight later Ipswich announced Rew as their latest signing so there’s no doubt people do get genuine information and it’s not all “rumour” and mischief making although I appreciate you get some of that as well!
  13. Funny really, cos I’d be more inclined to believe someone who rarely posts, than someone with thousands.
  14. Masters is absolutely superb around Foxhall. Lowered Doyle’s colours twice in one meeting last year, nobody else could manage that. He’ll be a big danger man again when Wolves visit.
  15. It’s more like between five and six than between six and seven if his recent averages are anything to go by. 5.60, 5.22 and 5.51 in the recent seasons before last season’s 6.31 Probably not met with much enthusiasm because of the figures above. His 6.31 possibly looking a little expensive and not likely to see any improvement. I’ve listed a few riders of similar standard that every team has in their middle order, problem is when you have more than one of them which Peterborough MIGHT have if Andersen also signs. That can be negated somewhat if you have a couple of real quality bit hitters so Peterborough are gonna need a top rider at 1 I think. If they get one then I still think they’ll be in the mix for a play off spot.
  16. To be fair the Holder thing may have scuppered his/their plans and they’ve had to chase a replacement.
  17. Not sure about that. Get the top heat leader in whether that be Pedersen or someone else then the top end looks absolutely fine. Iversen will be a good second heat leader (much more suited than #1) and Basso is more than capable of improving further to nail down the 3rd heat leader spot. Ben Cook could do well at reserve also which just leaves the middle order. We’ve all got those Ritchie Worrall types in the side, Wolves have his brother, we have Riss, Belle Vue Charles Wright, Sheffield Howarth/Bellego etc etc. all similar average wise who aren’t exciting but are there to do a job.
  18. Was just a rehash really of what Louis said earlier in the week at the end of the sponsorship piece ”The Witches generally do their work prior to Christmas and did so again this time in terms of their first five signings - but two places have remained unfilled, with the first of those clearly having a bearing on the club’s direction of travel for the second”. So nothing we didn’t already know really, get who they really want in and then Hume goes with him, or having to settle for Batch and Cook.. Still think Holder may come in to the thinking if he’s not the heat leader Peterborough are talking about.
  19. We won’t really know until he rides but what we do know is that last season he was still scoring very very well and still mixing it with the best. The injury at his age will be a concern sure.
  20. “Witches still hoping for a happy ending” is the headline in the Witches part of the Speedway Star…
  21. He’s not a dreadful signing but I agree doesn’t really get the juices flowing. Had a spell at reserve for Lynn last season but with Cook and Jenkins down there you wouldn’t expect him to be getting easier reserve rides this time around unless Cook does a lot better than expected. Still, exciting news on the heat leader! If it’s Pedersen or Lindgren that would make you forget about Worrall pretty quickly
