Peterborough Panthers 2023
Arch Stanton replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You’re right of course, but it isn’t a surprise seeing as the Peterborough supporters have been kept in the dark over just about everything all winter and probably long before that. This is a general problem across the board in our sport although Peterborough seems an extreme case. Communication between the club(s) and its paying punters should be far far better than it is. -
Something will be tried. Hamstrung a bit because of averages and options so whether we end up better off remains to be seen, but I’m pretty confident something will be attempted. Tungate wasn’t exactly a roaring success when he came in late last year, but he had his moments and his average isn’t too prohibitive. Wonder whether we’ll delay his move to Peterborough whilst we weigh up our own options..

Doyle scored 13 early last season, but then failed to score double figures on both occasions after that so doesn’t seem to be his best track. Don’t think he failed to hit double figures anywhere else last year, could be wrong though.

Absolutely no surprise at King’s score, it’s happened for the last three meetings now and he’s fell in to one of the ruts that he finds difficult to get himself out of once he’s in it. He’s struggled for Redcar in his last couple as well so it’s a concern as he’s pivotal. To be fair this isn’t the team originally put together and Louis has had to put a couple of sticking plasters on to stem a couple of gaping wounds but it obviously can’t carry on as this current side won’t make the play offs. Defeat on Thursday and then lose for a third time at home on Monday against a strong Sheffield and it could be all over. Very rare to make play offs with 3 or more home defeats. Getting to the point where it could be gamble time and make a few changes.

He’s the standout and the one to go for. Someone will surely snap him up sooner rather than later.

Ipswich v Wolves June 1st

You saying Jack Thomas wouldn’t have made a difference to a rising star scoring next to nothing? Behave. Of course he would. And Barker isn’t a replacement for a 6 pointer (Riss) either. Those two make a difference to this team. Time for judging will be in the Autumn when the play offs come around. Let’s see. -

To be fair Jack Thomas was originally in and would have made a big difference. Riss and Thomas as RS and things would look a lot different so Louis has been a tad unlucky this time. -

That would make things worse. King has been captain for years, taking it off him would just pi$$ him off. -

King was off the pace and struggling for Redcar the other night so the warning signs were there and I half expected a poor night from him tonight. Let’s hope it’s a blip and he hasn’t got it in his head again that there’s something wrong with his equipment that he can’t fix.. We need some sort of contribution from the rising star position. Nobody expects eye catching scores down there of course, but you want something. A change simply has to happen I’m afraid and I’m sure it will. Well done to Wolves, they were terrific it has to be said. They have so many that are comfortable at Foxhall and it showed again. Zach Cook outstanding. -

With Danyon’s arm pump issues it might be an idea to protect him as much as possible running R/R by not putting him in heat one so he then has two on the trot. We know he suffers later in the meeting especially when having 5/6/7 rides. Not ideal sending him out there in the first 2 heats as we’ve done previously. Common sense surely? Put Barker out with Doyle in the first heat. -

At least you have plenty of number 2’s though -

Sheffield need to be a bit careful as do we (Ipswich). I thought both of us were shoe ins for a play off spot but Leicester and Particularly Wolves have surprised me. Both those two look very solid. You then also have Belle Vue and now possibly Lynn also to throw in to the mix and suddenly a top 4 spot could be anyone’s and any of the pre-season favourites could easily miss out. Only Peterborough look out of the equation. Gonna be a good old scrap right til the last few fixtures I reckon which is what it should be. -

This type of signing should lift everybody including the riders. Seeing Laguta in your end of the pits can pull those riders along also and give them a bounce. Home win. -
https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-preview-wolverhampton-sports-insure-premiership-r1-h/ R/R for Rew. King, Barker and two for Hume will take his rides. Should cover us well.
-
Good for him. Good luck Drew hope he smashes it.

Who’s missing for the Witches next week then? I’m guessing probably Rew? He has a championships meeting on the Friday, maybe there’s practice he’s needed for on the Thursday?

Sad to see how much Andersen has declined over the last couple of years. Ok the fella is now in to his 40’s so you expect a decline of sorts that’s only natural, but the decline has been a pretty big one considering just how good he was a few years back. Was my favourite rider at Ipswich where he turned from a promising young second string to a genuine number 1 by the time he left us. -

To be fair we’re the mighty Witches so we deserve two threads. Lynn should count themselves lucky to get one -

They did say there was a specific rider they did target to guest but he wasn’t available, think Badge may have possibly been right who knows. -
PK was the dogs doo daas and the best of the lot. Never would have gotten him away from Wolves either though unfortunately.

Not sure. I’ve always found Lawson hit and miss around Foxhall. He openly admits he’s not keen on the track. He had one cracking meeting the season before we signed him where he got 17 I think. That was the exception rather than the rule though and he’s looked patchy here ever since. Aries is right, he was pretty poor earlier this season in the cup, scoring 5 and not threatening to win a race. I think they’re stronger with R/R especially with Fricke now on his game. Both Harris and Sedgmen rode for us and were pretty cr@p but rather annoyingly, have been a pain in the rear end on their visits since! Morris is decent around here too, probably one of his better away tracks.
