Difficult decision to make for them I’d assume but needs must. They are worst hit unbelievably in having to shed points. Over two points over so Howarth for Lawson seems the stand out option to sneak back in under the limit. It does make them look a bit unremarkable though. They’ll have their work cut out making the top four with that team IMO.

For what it’s worth I believe it was Brennan Doyle and Rew completing the team but things can, and often do change so we’ll have to wait and see. We won’t know the full team until later next week.

Annual General Merry Up 2025
Arch Stanton replied to SuffolkWitch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We’ll be doing the odd Monday here and there, but the majority of home meetings at Ipswich will be Thursdays. -
Can’t argue with any of that in truth. It is a risky one as they’re banking on more surgery correcting the problem but as you rightly say, there’s no guarantees. Fingers crossed.

It’s the AGM next week, I can’t see them announcing all seven until after that. I could be wrong, but I think they’ll hold at least one back until the completion of the conference just in case something unexpected happens at the 11th hour with the points limit.

https://ipswichwitches.co/2025-signing-danny-king/ Explains the issues he had. Don’t think people realised how much it was affecting his performances.

Nah can’t be that one Phil. Clubs don’t announce riders signing for others before the signing club announced it themselves. You could be right on the first one though 😁
-
Can’t agree, he’s been doing it for donkeys years. If he had any issue with it whatsoever then he’d have told his best mate and he’d have taken it off him. I’ve heard that about King’s interview a few times now. I think he basically summed up how we were all feeling at the time. It was pretty desperate wasn’t it? Only so many times you can round up the troops before another kick in the nuts can do for the best of us. It was relentless. Himself, Ellis, Dan, Doyle and then Emil hammering the final nail in the coffin. Not sure any amount of cheerleading would have gotten anymore out of the team, it was done, over.

Definitely reads as an issue, rather than a positive signing. Hope it’s something else personally, love him or hate him he’s good for the League and we need more riders of his quality here rather than losing them.

My personal opinion is that the captaincy gets completely overplayed. There’s some influential riders in the pits at Ipswich that won’t be any more or less influential regardless of being captain or not. It does kind of feel that King is being needlessly criticised here. He’s inconsistent, he loses to people sometimes that you’d hope he wouldn’t. That’s why he’s a 6 pointer and not a 9 pointer. Every team in the league will have those riders also, Ellis is exactly the same. Can be excellent one meeting, absolute guff the next. I’d be happy with Ellis as well by the way. Absolutely no problem preferring one rider to another, we all have opinions but Gavan is right, some of the criticism is over the top and unnecessary. King follows the club’s social media and no doubt reads the comments. Some of the comments in the last few days will have hurt him, he’s only human.

I genuinely don’t mind either. There’s a fag paper between them IMO so makes very little difference. Don’t see that position as vital as the others. Doyle and Emil are vital up top, Dan and JJ are vital as a reserve pairing, Brennan is vital as support for the top two. The other position in the engine room is probably the least vital in the whole team. Ellis summed up this year when interviewed during a live meeting, the top two score so many points, that it made the job’s easy for the others in the team.

I think there is improvement in Emil personally. Averaged 10.10 in 2023, this year 9.12. He struggled with engines both here and in Poland and couldn’t get to the bottom of the issues until mid season. Finally got going and then it was normal service resumed. Because of that he dropped a point off his average. There’s improvement there.
-
I doubt it personally, it’s risky to do so when they haven’t had the AGM. Sounds as though they’ll be announcing a few though so we’ll see.

Zach is better at Foxhall than Ben. And easily so. Zach’s worst Foxhall performance ironically was when he guested FOR Ipswich. As an away rider, been generally good. So if the two meet in the play offs, Belle Vue will be stronger at Foxhall next year. Think Zach will soon get dialled in at the NSS too. Most do when they have that as their home track.
-
To be fair, we at Ipswich also like to help the weaker clubs where we can. We’re releasing Adam Ellis so he’s an option for the clubs lower down. We’re good like that 😉

Don’t think it matters a great deal and there’s been nothing between them this season. Ellis 19 meetings GSA 5.90 King 17 meetings GSA 6.15 When you factor in that King rode the last third of the season struggling with his broken hand which saw him reject guest bookings and saw his average drop, but still finished with a slightly higher season average, is keeping Ellis over King wise? Appreciate some feel it just needs a parting of the ways, but one has to go to make room for Brennan and I don’t think it makes a huge difference scoring wise. Both would provide very similar scoring over the season for me. I think both have scope to improve their current averages, King’s with the caveat though of sorting his problematic hand injury.

I know mate 👍🏻
