King’s Lynn 2024 serious team predictions
Arch Stanton replied to SamKM91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Uninspiring. Really not sure on Tarasenko on an average just under 7. When he first came over on a 5, sure, but not on 7 for me. Find another on a 5.00 assessed who has the potential to up that average like Tarasenko has. Doesn’t always work of course. Rew came on an assessed 5 and ended up dropping it so it’s always a gamble. But personally I’d much rather roll the dice and take the chance on a potential average jumper, than signing riders whose averages look bang on the money. Edit: Mind you, MPT at reserve should fill his boots. -
I tend to agree, his talent is obvious but we didn’t see it too often this season. If he returns, I’m quietly confident he’ll enjoy a much better second season. Anyway, Sheffield thread this one
-
I’m not sure it was “miles weaker”. Both Dan Thompson and Danyon Hume averaged more than both Gilkes and Edwards last year over all meetings. Ipswich’ tail was certainly weaker than Sheffield’s will be this year on the whole granted, as Rew struggled and made it a bottom three, which won’t be the case with Sheffield with their weakest member of the top 5 (Howarth) certainly stronger than Rew was last year. On your point about predicting Ipswich will again have a much weaker tail end than Sheffield next year, we’ll have to wait and see on that.

It would have helped him massively if he had a proper mechanic in his pit bay that knew what they were doing. -
Think other clubs without the financial backing to go top heavy, will see Sheffield’s reserves as an area to exploit by going strength in depth with a strong number 6. Well they don’t have much choice really, but they’ll see that as a way of competing. As eye catching as our (Ipswich) team looked at first glance last year, our tail caught us out far too often. Let’s have it right, if Morris hadn’t have derailed Leicester’s season, we were finishing 5th in a 7 team league and not even making the play offs. Yes the Riss issue didn’t help and if he’d not had issues and rode to his average, we may have won meetings we lost narrowly but still, having a weak tail is and will be a concern. Home form will be strong of course, but I think both Woffinden and C Holder will be flaky away from Sheffield, and Howarth and Pickering aren’t great travellers either so that coupled with the weak tail could see them struggle on the road.

Kemp has been on the Rising Star list since they brought the scheme in. Ipswich signed both Kemp AND Anders Rowe in 2021, both of whom were in the Rising Star list. Rowe was selected as the senior Ipswich reserve at number 6.

3.48 left by my calculations for a reserve

Never known anyone to get things out this quickly after the AGM before. They’ve even released all their season ticket details so fair play to them.

Pickering and Howarth back. No surprises there.

Completely agree. I think Doyle deserves to be reassessed at 8 also for his outstanding service to British Speedway. -

I agree with your concerns with Berge, but we haven’t got an awful lot of choice. We have Emil, Doyle, King, Ellis and probably Rew. We have 4.16 for the last place. It’s either Hume again or roll the dice on a 4 pointer. Barker would have been the safest bet and my pick, but seems he’s off to Birmingham. -

Dunno finding a good 4 pointer a lot tougher than finding a 5 pointer. We picked up a highly rated 5 pointer last winter who didn’t even average 4. I’m all for it though I’d rather take a chance on youngster with a bit of potential than go for Hume on a similar average with all due respect to him. -

He said himself last winter that this was the last year he was eligible for the scheme. -

Thomas said last winter that the season just gone was his last to meet the Rising Star criteria so I’m guessing he’ll not be available as one this coming season. Unless they take in to account his misfortune this year and bend the rule to allow him in.. -
That’s much better value if you’re someone who buys a programme. I personally have never bothered but a lot do, and it’s something we didn’t include in the Ipswich one.
-
Yes it was us that offered 12 Premiership meetings and the first round of the Cup. Must admit I thought Sheffield and a few others had the same offer but obviously not. Sheffield’s works out that you’ll save £24 quid if you attend every meeting. So one free meeting and a quid off another. Think they need to be better value across the board to be honest.

Good looking side that. Will be in the mix

In that case not many options on 4.16.. -

He won’t fit if we’ve gone for those other five. Emil, Doyle, King, Rew and Ellis leaves 4.16 which is why I’ve gone for Barker. Hume also fits, but Barker the better bet there. -

Not entirely sure, but I’m guessing that a single charge against Everton is quicker and easier to sort than 115 charges against City which will be more complex. Will City ever get charged? The cynic in me says no and they’ve simply made an example out of Everton here rather than go after the oil clubs backed by hundreds of billions and risk getting taken to the cleaners! Let’s not forget either, Six clubs went behind the Premier League’s back and their own fans’ back, to secretly join a European super league which threatened to destroy the entire English football pyramid. Their punishment? A fine of around 22 million spread between the six of them and a telling off. Everton one single breach of P&S rules relating to a tax issue on a loan for their new Stadium, and they get hit with an unprecedented 10 point deduction?? Yeah, that stinks to high heaven. Edit: apologies to the Plymouth fans for going off track on your thread.
