  1. I think the supporters of other clubs on here would be absolutely delighted if we jumped the gun and signed a 6 point replacement for Doyley We have to wait.
  2. Just posted something very similar, and I agree.
  3. They’re trying but it’s proving difficult. Just when they think they’re making progress and a deal looks done, something crops up and it collapses. So many stars need to align before a deal gets completed, especially for the top end fellas. Although it’s nice to finish top and I’m confident we would have but for the issues we’ve faced, but it isn’t vital. The cup final is in the bag, and the final isn’t until September, neither are the play offs. Personally I think it’s wise to muddle through with guests and rider replacement until a quality option further down the line becomes available, than to make a signing now that might not be as good just to get a full 1-7 out. The pots aren’t handed out until September.
  4. Looking at the stats between last season and this so far, over all meeting (League and Cup) 2023: 10.73 2024: 8.74 So you’re currently looking at a two point drop off from last year which is significant. It’s not as if he’s suddenly “downed tools” over here and going through the motions whilst flying elsewhere, because his average in Poland has dropped off a cliff this year also so he’s definitely having issues by his high standards. It’s ironic that last year our strength was the most potent top end in the league whilst our bottom end was the weak link, this year it’s flip flopped! Emil struggling and Doyle/King/Ellis out injured, but it’s been the big improvement from Rew and Thompson in particular that has carried us through meetings! If we had Doyle and a firing Emil then I agree it wouldn’t even be a contest. Edit: other than his spell on the sidelines, Ellis has also been a big factor. Comfortably riding above his average which to be honest, we all expected him to do. Clearly a far better rider than he showed last year for Sheffield.

  7. Rarely drops points at Foxhall, such a massive miss. Need that position sorted before the crucial fixtures.
  8. Solid scoring wins the day. Keeps things ticking along.
  9. He’s always been poor out of the start, terrible gater. When his bikes are firing it can still launch him in to contention around first and second bend though but that’s not the case this year.
  10. Going to need the good Emil this evening, not the off colour one (by his standards) we’ve mostly seen this season. He looked back to his best recently, but was poor last week against Birmingham, and worryingly carried on that poor form again yesterday in Poland scoring only 8 from 6 rides. Let’s hope he’s not going through more mechanical problems because without Doyle, we’ll now need his very best. The Good thing from our perspective is that unlike last year, our lower order (Rew and Thompson) have shown great improvement and have carried us through meetings when we’ve had problems at the top end.
  11. You have to be careful to not jump in and sign someone you’re not entirely convinced by, just for the sake of getting a full 1-7 on track now. With their position in the table, it’s not an urgent situation frankly. Yes they will probably now end up surrendering top spot, but a top 4 place looks fairly secure. There is guaranteed to be more options (potentially better) open up later in the season when the riders’ calendar gets a little less busy. They MAY be biding their time to make sure they get the best possible rider in to replace Doyle for the cup final and play offs.
  12. I initially assumed he was heavily involved, but I assure you Guy Nicholls knows absolutely nothing about it. Chris has done this alone.
  13. Really pleased with Rew. We all knew he was a talented young rider and is now starting to show it. Much improved on last season.
  14. Play orf Bob might grace us with his presence a little earlier this year.

  16. Jenkins has picked up a little, but it’s a pretty low bar. He’s been generally poor this season so far in both leagues, but as you say, he’s won a couple of important races recently. BUT, Hawkins said this on the official website this week.. ”we will look at options and see what we can do, and we will do what is best for Ipswich Speedway and do our very best to make us the strongest team out on track” There can’t be an argument that if an 8 point man is brought in to replace Doyle, then another change (i.e Cook for Jenkins) would make the team stronger. Is not replacing Jenkins with Cook “doing what is best for Ipswich Speedway to make us the strongest team out on track”? The obvious answer is no. I’m with you though, I think it’ll be a straight swap for Doyle and that’ll be that. But it could end up being another opportunity missed. King has withdrawn from tomorrow’s British final by the way.
  17. Although you can never be totally sure until they’ve ridden here, but he’s obviously a classy rider and you’d think would take to the tracks here pretty well. Not sure too many would be disappointed with him. Presumably he’d come in on 8, so that leaves the question on what you do with the extra point (1.16). Do you leave things as they are or strengthen further and sign the available Zach Cook and replace Jenkins..
  18. Wasn’t he very good around Monmore though? Foxhall is a bigger track so think it may take a ride, but he’ll cope ok I think.
  19. Well the anorak who doesn’t post anymore (*cough* Beerhut) reckons it’s Linus Sundstrom and Scotty. He’s a bigger fan than me so I’ll bow to his superior knowledge
  20. https://x.com/ipswichspeedway/status/1798681153727328732?s=46 Anyone? Is it Swidders Badge? And Kim Jansson everybody?? You’ll soon tell me lol
  21. Don’t think Louis would even entertain the idea to be honest.
  22. I know from reading your posts on here that you tend to view things slightly on the pessimistic side when it comes to Birmingham (a lot justified this year granted!) but that’s a hell of a stretch even for you! absolutely no chance a Freddie led Birmingham get beat by 20+.
  23. It’s a demand at Ipswich, not a request so you’re quite correct. Emil to his credit took that on board. They may have to lower their sights and change the make up of the side from a powerful top end, to a more strength in depth looking side with just Emil as the big hitter. That would mean sacrificing a rider lower down unfortunately. The drop off points wise from Doyle’s replacement has to be made up elsewhere in the team. We’ll see.
