  1. But you can't blame Ipswich for looking elsewhere after he re-signed for Lakeside. The amount of meetings he missed this season was a joke and left many people frustrated! Not sure this doubling up/down/fast track stuff is doing the likes of Ellis too many favours! The lad may have talent, but he didn't kick on as much as hoped this season and still hasn't worked his way out of a PL reserve berth. He needs a full season of PL racing, racing for his PL club first and foremost IMO.
  2. Wouldn't a German lad still come in on a 5? Michael Hartel for example?
  3. Don't be daft it isn't a race! You don't get a prize for completing your team first. Only four teams are so far completed. I'd much rather the promotion took their time and got the right riders than rush and pick easy options just to get the line up completed.
  4. Agreed. Hot on the heels of the peskies announcing Jonsson and Mikkel Bech, we're on tenterhooks here in Suffolk waiting for news on our two PL reserves! Oh how things have changed...
  5. I was thinking of a possible Mildenhall rider too but nobody obvious jumped out. These last two reserve signings are absolutely vital and they have to look pretty tasty if we're going to have a successful year IMO.
  6. Or trying to sell copies of the paper he works for, which is his job! Yes you could wait for the news on here, but nobody is going to write word for word the whole article that will appear in the paper. I know I've picked up copies on the way to work on the back of Mike Bacon's tweets, to read the Witches articles that I wouldn't otherwise have done. And I'm sure I'm not alone.
  7. Is he any good? His stats don't look overly impressive to me.
  8. Not a lot to discuss until Lanham gets back from Tenerife.
  9. Well there we have it! Thought it was far too random not to have something in it.
  10. You've been a member for over 2 years, only 30 posts, your team is Sheffield and you haven't posted anywhere for Donkey's. This is a bit random for there not to be something behind this post so I'm assuming you may well know something... On the other hand you may just be a random looney
  11. Arthur Sissis? Been getting rides at Foxhall this year (as well as elsewhere I know), very good mates with Heeps and has been golfing with both Heeps and Manzares the last couple of months.. Probably means absolutely nothing but there's similarities with Tungate the year we signed him so who knows.
  12. You've made a handful of posts like this, can I ask you how you seem to know what the Ipswich 1-7 will be? Seems a little odd to me that you don't seem to have much of a clue about your own team Peterborough, but know the 1-7 Ipswich will be tracking..
  13. Was about to post the same thing. Mike Bacon tweets that the first Witch announced tomorrow, Danny King immediately "follows" him on twitter.
  14. Exactly the same went through my mind too but there could be many many reasons. Maybe what Blupanther alluded to the other day may have some truth in it? King to Peterborough if they run, if not then King to Ipswich? That is another possible reason, and a more likely one. One thing that does seem certain though, is that IF it is King on a near 9 point average, then that surely rules out Tungate on his average of over 8 I'd have thought as that would make us far too top heavy.
  15. Oldtimer has a major problem with the term "Director of Speedway". In fact, he's brought this up so many times he's obviously scarily obsessed with it. It's been explained to him on here why he was labelled with that title, but for some bizarre reason he just won't let it lie. The title "Director of Speedway" was used in press releases because at the time Chris Louis took over the day to day running of the club, he didn't have his promoters licence and wasn't allowed to use the term "promoter/co-promoter". He's now had his promoters licence for some years, but the "Director Of Speedway" tag has stuck with some media sources, although on the BSPA website in which I assume Oldtimer has taken his quote, they quite clearly state "Co-promoter" and not "Director Of Speedway" as this sad fool states in his post.
  16. Oh dear at the prospect of signing Ben Barker?
  17. Totally agree. King has looked off colour this year, but there seems to be mitigating circumstances behind that. If you look at the final Elite league greensheets at the end of last season, King averaged 7.46. To put it in to perspective, Cook finished on 7.40, Doyle 7.30, Barker 6.47 and Kennett 6.39. King also finished with a higher Elite league average last season than Davey Watt, Rory Schlein, Mads Korneliussen, Chris Harris, Seb Ulamek, Janowski, Swiderski, Bridger. King has found his level nobody is suggesting otherwise, but that level is a good solid top flight rider, and almost certainly a powerful PL number 1. It beggars belief that the likes of Had Enough are luke warm on the idea of King, then suggesting a top 2 of Worrall and Ricky bloody Wells whilst others would prefer Rohan Tungate! Bizarre.
  18. If you'd seriously prefer Tungate at 1 than King then you're barking! And King was a sliver shy of the 9 point mark for Newcastle, and that on the back of a poor year by his standards. Probably not helped by the fiasco at Birmingham.
  19. I find it bizarre that anyone would think King would be anything other than a powerful number 1 in this league. Has he found his level? you'd have to say yes, but that level has been a second or third heatleader in the Elite league for years now. Simon Stead and Ed Kennett have also found their level, and I'd argue that neither of those two have been a better rider than King over the years, but both have been nothing other than very very good number 1's in the Premier league. King is a PL 9 pointer all ends up, and I've no doubt he'll still be a 9 pointer at the end of next season and on a similar average to both Stead and Kennett. Barker is another you could throw in there, brilliant PL number 1, has he been or is he better than King? no.
  20. Word of warning for those suggesting Ricky Wells. This from Olga on the Worky thread.. "Don't mind who Comets bring in next year Mgt are good in my view. Having said that lose Ricky Wells for goodness sake. Start of season 7.81 now he's 6.46 and he's ridden a lot of the year as second string. It's not like he's seeing tracks for the first time either - so no excuses there. He scores more for Wolves than Comets and has ridden in a World Cup. I've seen him after a lap and a half check he's good where he is and coast in ... if he gates great if he doesn't he might as well pull off the track. Poor signing and Sheffield fans saw all this last season ... let him go asap. Why reward a guy with another season when he's "blown us out" this year?" That isn't an isolated post about Wells either as I've seen many many posters questioning his dedication, commitment and attitude. Swerve.
  21. A little foolish in your opinion, my opinion is clearly the opposite to yours. He wouldn't get anywhere near a team spot for me on that figure. As stated above, Tungate doesn't strike me as number 1 material, which he would be on that figure. My judgement may also be clouded somewhat by his incredible comments in the local press earlier in the season. I'm staggered how little was made of those comments especially by some of the supporters on here who actually came on and backed him. When you have supporters such as Baldyman, who travel up and down the country supporting their team, spending a chunk of their hard earned money in the process, I find it totally unacceptable to hear a rider you're supporting come out in the press stating they've not been making an effort in meetings and lack motivation. Lack motivation!!? He's been involved in the sport for 3 years, if he's lacking drive and motivation already then he's clearly in the wrong job and will never make it to the top with that attitude. Hopefully Chris Louis will leave him out of his plans for next season. Tungate can do one as far as I'm concerned.
  22. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest where Tungate is concerned. Earlier in the season he actually admitted (stupidly) that he turns up to some away meetings with a half ar$ed attitude and struggles for motivation. I was very surprised to see the latest greensheets have Tungate's average now above the 8 point mark, I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole next year on that figure.
  23. Crikey both of those look a snip on those averages and I'd imagine both will be hot property this winter.
