  1. I'm not too sure we would be out of the cup if our next meeting was away. I think we need to be careful we don't get too downhearted after a heavy defeat on a very tricky track that clearly didn't suit the majority of the team. There is a lot of early season kneejerking going on at the moment. Rye went from wooden spoonists to potential champions after a positive few opening meetings, but then lost at home to Peterborough and suddenly people are unsure again. Let's get half a dozen meetings under our belts at least to have a better idea of how good this side is.
  2. Good Friday's meeting at Foxhall was a far better meeting, IMO. The showground has a reputation of being one of, if not the best track in the Country and that's fully justified as it's an awesome race track when it's right. Tonight wasn't one of those nights.
  3. But none of that has now happened because of the upgrade in facilities, it's always happened and would have done if the upgrade had happened or not.
  4. Rarely in 30 years of attending Foxhall have I seen the track in such poor shape, which naturally resulted in one of the most boring meetings you're likely to see. Chris Louis actually apologised after the meeting and admitted they had got it wrong, but it was too little too late. On the one day you want to put on a good show, a bumper Good Friday crowd with probable first time attendees, and they got it horribly wrong. I know the winter weather made things difficult for track prep not just at Foxhall but up and down the country as a few tracks had early problems, but I didn't see another track as poorly prepared as Foxhall was that day. Hopefully lessons learned as last Good Friday must have been damaging.
  5. Highest averaged rider at 1, lowest two at 6 and 7 (either way around) and the others where you like.
  6. I've always preferred to have your best rider who leads from the front, to be captain as long as he has good leadership qualities and Danny King has. So another vote for King from me without hesitation.
  7. Perhaps Joe was just asking for more than Chris Louis was willing to pay. Nielsen obviously is happy enough with what he was offered as he's accepted a place and I'm not sure the Ipswich promotion would be offering more to a rider who was effectively their second choice. Jacobs is entitled to say yes or no to any offer and he's said no, Louis then moved for another rider who said yes, so all sorted. Doesn't stop any of the other clubs offering Joe a deal which they either have and he's rejected them also, or nobody else is simply interested which in itself tell a story. You want a team of riders with fire in their belly and a real hunger to succeed, so it's probably best that Ipswich missed out on Jacobs as it seems his heart is no longer in it.
  8. Interesting. With the greatest of respect to Joe, if I had the choice of Jacobs or Nielsen to fill the last reserve berth I'd have gone for Nielsen from the off so personally I'm happy with the end result.
  9. But you can't blame Ipswich for looking elsewhere after he re-signed for Lakeside. The amount of meetings he missed this season was a joke and left many people frustrated! Not sure this doubling up/down/fast track stuff is doing the likes of Ellis too many favours! The lad may have talent, but he didn't kick on as much as hoped this season and still hasn't worked his way out of a PL reserve berth. He needs a full season of PL racing, racing for his PL club first and foremost IMO.
  10. Wouldn't a German lad still come in on a 5? Michael Hartel for example?
  11. Don't be daft it isn't a race! You don't get a prize for completing your team first. Only four teams are so far completed. I'd much rather the promotion took their time and got the right riders than rush and pick easy options just to get the line up completed.
  12. Agreed. Hot on the heels of the peskies announcing Jonsson and Mikkel Bech, we're on tenterhooks here in Suffolk waiting for news on our two PL reserves! Oh how things have changed...
  13. I was thinking of a possible Mildenhall rider too but nobody obvious jumped out. These last two reserve signings are absolutely vital and they have to look pretty tasty if we're going to have a successful year IMO.
  14. Or trying to sell copies of the paper he works for, which is his job! Yes you could wait for the news on here, but nobody is going to write word for word the whole article that will appear in the paper. I know I've picked up copies on the way to work on the back of Mike Bacon's tweets, to read the Witches articles that I wouldn't otherwise have done. And I'm sure I'm not alone.
  15. Is he any good? His stats don't look overly impressive to me.
  16. Not a lot to discuss until Lanham gets back from Tenerife.
  17. Well there we have it! Thought it was far too random not to have something in it.
  18. You've been a member for over 2 years, only 30 posts, your team is Sheffield and you haven't posted anywhere for Donkey's. This is a bit random for there not to be something behind this post so I'm assuming you may well know something... On the other hand you may just be a random looney
  19. Arthur Sissis? Been getting rides at Foxhall this year (as well as elsewhere I know), very good mates with Heeps and has been golfing with both Heeps and Manzares the last couple of months.. Probably means absolutely nothing but there's similarities with Tungate the year we signed him so who knows.
  20. You've made a handful of posts like this, can I ask you how you seem to know what the Ipswich 1-7 will be? Seems a little odd to me that you don't seem to have much of a clue about your own team Peterborough, but know the 1-7 Ipswich will be tracking..
  21. Was about to post the same thing. Mike Bacon tweets that the first Witch announced tomorrow, Danny King immediately "follows" him on twitter.
  22. Exactly the same went through my mind too but there could be many many reasons. Maybe what Blupanther alluded to the other day may have some truth in it? King to Peterborough if they run, if not then King to Ipswich? That is another possible reason, and a more likely one. One thing that does seem certain though, is that IF it is King on a near 9 point average, then that surely rules out Tungate on his average of over 8 I'd have thought as that would make us far too top heavy.
