  1. Aye, top top talent is Drew. Very much looking forward to following his progress over the coming years.
  2. Maybe the enforced break for Nico has done him good and given him a clean slate to start all over again. Looked quicker last night than any of his previous meetings pre injury. He also demonstrated exactly why he was included in the team again this year. There’s been one or two on here questioning his involvement this season because his average was “too high” or not likely to be improved upon. We all want to see our team be successful and win things of course, but entertainment is the name of the game isn’t it? riders or rather racers, like Loram, Screen and Harris sadly seem to be a dying breed these days and although I’m not saying he’s as good as those, Covatti is cut from the same cloth. Not many around today who could have matched that stalk and pass of Wright around Foxhall as spectacularly as Nico did last night. When he’s on his game he’s terrific value.
  3. Personally I’d definitely stick with King at 5, Sarjeant at 2 and Heeps/Covatti at 3 and 4.
  4. Good to see Covatti get a couple of guest bookings though with our lack of fixtures and him only just returning from an injury lay off. Couple of decent confidence boosting scores as well so bodes well for us.
  5. Well I’m in said golf hotel and have been here since 3 o clock. Been raining since half 4 and still raining now. Come and say hello? Wearing jeans and black polo shirt
  6. Went to Mildy today. I know it’s Drew’s home track but he was on a different planet to Brennan today. After his good showing at Foxhall I was disappointed with Brennan. Failed to win a race. Kemp 20+1 max. The boy was different gravy.
  7. That surprises me tbh. I thought the Showground would have been tailor made for his style and would become a big favourite. Shows what I know!
  8. Thought the same I must admit.. A little frustrating seeing Cam score paid 8 tonight for Wolves, including a 5-1 with Rory against Jason Doyle and Richard Lawson, and yet can only manage 3 from 5 rides against an average Berwick side.. hopefully a confidence booster for him though but he needs to start pulling his finger out for us and sharpish.
  9. He’s been dreadful. Again, a pale shadow of the rider that stepped up last season. Unlike Hume though, hasn’t got the excuse of coming back from a bad injury. Just coming back a stone or two overweight! His talent isn’t in question, his dedication and professionalism is though unfortunately.
  10. The reserves have been dreadful apart from the odd good away meeting from Mountain. I know Hume has returned after a year out with a broken arm, but I’m afraid he’s looked a shadow of the rider we saw before his injury. Think the management need a serious rethink as to whether we need a restructure with a stronger reserve in there.
  11. Birmingham vs Mildenhall will be an interesting meeting tonight. We’ll get a rough idea of where the youngsters Kemp and Jenkins are in their development as they face Danyon Hume on his own track.
  12. According to Ritchie Hawkins, Chris Louis spent literally all day on the phone on Friday trying to arrange guests here so evidently not easy.
  13. I’d have thought one of them at least will be a shoe in. Both local lads, club mascots and regular second halfers. Whether we include both may depend on how successful this season is. If we fall short again, maybe they’ll try a different strategy and go with one of them and a stronger reserve partner to take the pressure off them in their first season next year. We went with two 2 pointers again this year to pack in a stronger top 5 and it remains to be seen if that’s successful or not. Personally im a big fan of building a team that way and it’s the way I’d go again next year regardless of what happens this season. Especially when you have two terrific talents as those two waiting in the wings. It would also be a shame to lose one of them to a rival. It would benefit the club in the future to get them both on the clubs books so I’m hoping that will be the case. Looking forward to watching both them, and the other British youngsters in the under 19 final a week on Thursday. I hope it’s well supported!
  14. To be fair, just about EVERYONE did didn’t they? Have a look back at the Speedway Star predictions and the pre season thread on here. The overwhelming majority had Ipswich top 2. I still wouldn’t rule it out. Get our walking wounded back quickly and hopefully the team settles down. It’s certainly good enough and not a time for knee jerk reactions.
  15. Neither Heeps nor Hume had seen the track before their first visit and we all know it’s one of the more difficult tracks to master and it showed as they scored 1 point between them. Second visit last night and they score 6+1 and 4+3 so that’s encouraging. Hopefully when we return will a full side we can push even closer.
  16. Still 15 isn’t he? Has some future if he continues to work hard and stay safe. Local lad and a Witches supporter, Chris Louis needs to be careful he doesn’t slip through the net. Put a contract under his nose as soon as he turns 16.
  17. Met Wayne in the Cricketers pub Thursday afternoon and had a brief chat. Came across as a cracking fella.
