  1. What a good do going to be cheaper than the Premier league is it
  2. I don't know where people get the idea that if they weaken the elite league next year that it will be a lot cheaper. They will still have a lot better quality riders (ie Harris.Schlein,Nicholls and the like) than they have in the Premier league and these riders will still be paid more than the top liners in the Prem league. Most Prem teams charge 15 pounds a few a little less and 2 tracks charge 16 pounds. So with the Elite teams on average getting round about the same amount of fans through the gates and still with larger wage bills how can they drop prices. Also they will have lost a large sum of money if as expected sky pull out of which it seems most of this money was paid out to the GP class riders and clubs still lost large amounts of money. So loseing the top boys will save clubs a good few quid but I cant see how the will be able to drop the gate money as well and still provide what I would say is still good quality speedway and make it pay.I will still be happy to pay the same amount as last year in hope that the promoters can make it pay because if they cant this coming seasons problems will seem to be sod all as in 2015 we could see a lot of clubs closeing there doors
  3. The Elite league will need more riders with the top boys being missing next year.So last year doubleing up did not really work(riders missing to many meetings to ride for their prem team) and with a lot more meetings being propose for next year doubleing up I m o just wont work.I have a feeling that they may stop it.If that's the case they may offer the top liners in the prem league a little more money than they can earn in said league to move up full time into the elite league(a lot cheaper than what they are paying the top boys and they somehow need to make the elite league attractive to the punters after loseing the top boys) and the better boys in the national league would then move up to the prem league. This could be the reason why there is a lot more intrest this year in moving up a league to me its the only way that they can then call the elite league the top league in Britain.Just my thoughts but sounds to me like a way they could go.
  4. Some people say that the Elite league will be rubbish if the top riders don't ride here next season but a perfect example for me is Hancock a great rider and also very exspensive..But on the whole he is a gater and the best and most exciting part of a race with him in it is the likes of Harris,Kildermand.Doyle.Barker andNicholls etc trying to chase him down. The point of this post is that Hancock wont be here next year but the best part of a race with him in it should still be here the other riders mentioned.Yes Ward and Holder etc are great racers but unless they have lots of top riders to race against the are just to good for the Elite league as it is now.
  5. Just my thoughts. For good close racing of which the sport needs to keep fans wanting to watch, you need EVERY club to be able to field at least 2 top line riders for one reason or another this is not going to happen.(ie cost not wanting to ride over here etc .)So let them all go.Hopefully form a 12 team league.Introduce a wage cap, meet twice home and away with no doubleing up.Have riders like Harris,King,Nicholls etc as your top men. Then offer the better riders in the Prem league a little more money than they can earn in said league to encourage them to move leagues. Have 6 men teams so that you don't need as many riders with there being less riders to fill team places. The idea of all this is to hopefully form teams that the riders from nos 1 to 6 don't have a massive gap in ability like we have now and in hope create closer racing. As I said earlier if things are to change we all have our own ideas of how we would like things to go these are mine.
  6. No disrespect to Poole and well done on winning the title but like any sport money destroys it, and the play offs plays right into the hands of the money teams. Brum right from the off put together a team built to win a league campaign of which they did. Now with the play offs the money teams with average changes etc have the time and the money to swap and change their team to create a play off winning team and still make it into the play offs be it 10 points or more behind the league leaders. Now it does not always work but when it does it annoys the hell out of most speedway fans and this is why Poole get so much stick. Some fans say that the play offs add excitement to the sport some do but this years did not.So in my opinion until we return to the old system of top of the league wins the title the money clubs will have an unfair advantage if they don't get it right in the first place.
  7. O M G the speedway grand final thread do people talk about how brilliant our end of season spectacular was NO, we have pages and pages of cr*p between bickering fans.If this is all a grand final can inspire fans to talk about then our once great sport is in big big trouble.
  8. Just a question does anyone know if Euro sport or B T sport have the facilities to film themselves or do they just buy a product that has been filmed by someone else and then add there own commentaries ie like they do with the Euro championship.Because if they have not then there is no chance of them showing the Elite league next year if Sky pull out.
  9. I have seen this boy ride a few times at belle vue and saw him ride at the B V press and practise day.I m o he looks very fast and in total control of his bike and very ready for Prem league raceing.Whoever picks him up wont be dissapointed. I just hope that Belle vue get him signed on our books and loan him out before anyone beats us to it.
  10. Never realy had a cause to be a shane fan. But with it being a great field, and it will be my first taste of speedway this year, and a great entry price i will defo be there to give him my support.I would think that a lot of fans from all over will think the same so i think he should be in for a well deserve big pay day.Realy looking foward to it.
  11. The one off finals were the best because it was a few qual rounds and a final. The gp today has to many rounds which in turn has help to destroy British speedway with the top riders to busy to fit the elite league into there to hectic schedules.Rather see one or two of them live at my home track every week than 12 times a year on t.v.
  12. Question is who would Stoke rather see in the play offs ?.
  13. i will be very happy if we take a point from this one.
  14. Dose anyone know why Kyle Howarth is not riding for the Colts thinking twice about going now.
  15. I will there tonight cheering on the colts.
  16. Hi Steve whats Gino Manzares doing this year from what i saw of him at Belle vue last year i exspected him to be snapped up by a prem league side this year. The boy looks to have a lot of talent.
  17. Jason is not the best out of the gate(if he can work on and improve his gateing the world is his oyster)once out of the gate he is very fast and has the skill to pass any rider in this league inside or outside. He never knows when he is beat this can lead to a breath taking pass or a fall.Hes the type of rider that everyone in the stadium cant wait to see his next ride. In the meeting against Scun/Shef not once did he gate 1st yet he got a 15 point max,he passed as many riders in the one meeting as i have seen Chris Harris pass in 5 elite meetings. The boy is a joy to watch.
  18. Colts v Scunthorpe 23rd March 8pm.
  19. Chris Morton has shown a lot of interest in this young lad, if he spends time with him it should iron out a few of the rougth edges and make him a much improved rider.
