At last the truth is out.I think most fans will be more understanding now,it was all the porkies that got fans backs up.However long it takes now they have to get the track 100% right before they open the gates again.Myself and i hope most fans will be patient and wait for as long as it takes(we have already waited for 9 years). The last thing they should do is rush it if they re open to soon and its not right it will be a bigger disaster than the P C meeting and a hell of a lot of fans could walk away for good.

Hard to predict Belle vues home meetings this season because no one knows who will or won't like the track including the Belle vue riders at this point.Going off form and teams on paper it should be a home win but we will have to wait and see. -
Kings Lynn Stars V Belle Vue Aces 31/3
B.V 72 replied to semion's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Woodenspoon never mentioned Belle vue winning the league as his name sugests we have finished bottom of the league a few times in the last few years. So success to me and i would think other belle vue fans is winning a good few meetings away from home which hopefully helps us to get into the play offs and then see what happens. As i read it(after reading a few posts on here) his post was mainly about trying to encourage Lynn fans to stick by there team through what may be a hard season.(and i did say may) The way i looked at things through our bad patch was that if myself and other fans keep going that puts money into the club which helps to keep it going and i would think helps them to sign the riders they want and not the only riders they can afford for us to have a better team for next season. If large numbers stay away because of a bad season the only thing that will get you is that perhaps they wont have the money to sign better riders for next season and in the long run it could lead to no speedway team to support. -
For me its hard to cheer on and fully support a British world champion when after this years world team cup at Belle vue (other than Cardiff) i may never get to see him ride live again in the country that he represents.

So much B S we have been told now by B/vue that the track wiil be tested on Thursday and an answer re Friday will be anounced then so lets wait till then. -
My point being that if the BSPA knew that this could happen and warned Belle vue that it could and they felt that running the meeting would harm British speedway they could still have refused to licence the track to stop it happening.
-
Not that i know much about track licences. But if there were all the concens as mentioned above more so that Belle vue were warned to cancel but chose not to then why was the track given a licence. If the powers that be were that concerned all they had to do was to refuse to licence the track and the meeting could not then have gone ahead. I am not saying that the Belle vue promotion are not to blame. But what i am saying is that whatever organisation that isued a licence that passes the track fit for purpose when its not and with all the above warnings should take equal blame.

Peter Craven/grand Opening

Because they have worked their socks off for the last 9 years to get this fantastic stadium built.Whoever or whatever is to blame for tonights call off as two fellow human beings i am gutted for them. After all the time and effort they have put into this stadium i bet there is not a fan that attended tonights meeting that is more upset and pd off than Chris and David. Yes tonight was a disaster. But the track will settle and in time will be awesume and as a Belle vue fan i will always be greatful to them for giving our club a future and a stadium to be proud of when so many other clubs are having problems. -

Am i a little pd off with tonight yes but more than that i am so so gutted for Chris David and the club. -
Think the heat leader list would have put the mockers on any thought of signing Bjarne as he was on the list with an average of 6.55 where as Buzz on a 6.48 average is not.
-
Michael started his official carrier in 1975 he rode for Boston in the National league 2nd div in his 1st year he finished with a 9.13 average he also rode some meetings for Kings lynn in the British league that year. In 76 he rode for Kings lynn in the British league won the British junior title and finished on a 9.22 average. In 77 he was top of the British league averages 10.64 won the British final.First world final finishing 4th and won the World team cup. He won the world speedway crown in 1980 in Gothenburg.

The 70s for me was the greatest years for speedway so out of genuine interest i would love to know which riders back then took to it like a duck to water. i would really appreciate when you get back home(whenever that my be) if you could post the riders names on this thread even if the thread has gone cold i will look out for it thanks in advance if you can. Kester same as if you have still got the Backtrack magazine i would appreciate if you could look them up and post on here thanks.
-
Where can i research this fact thanks again. I have had a look to find team building rules for the 50s without any luck. All i could find was a top 10 list of riders averages for 1950 and 51.Wembley who won the league in both those years had 1 rider in the top ten in both these years. If as you say team building was all about who could afford the best riders you would have thought that there would be more on the list. Your argument that it was easier then does not ring true when Poole last year had 3 riders in the top 10 average list.
-
O K then could you tell me the exact official rules for team building in the 50s and 60s thanks in advance.
-
Sorry you are wrong there Starman.Teams in the 70s could not build a side as strong as they liked there was rider control that so called evened the teams out.Any successful team was told they had to release a top rider who was then placed with a weaker team from the year before to strengthen said team up and they then had to replace that rider with a much lesser rider. Belle vue as an example over their three year league winning run had to release 4 heat leaders over this time Tommy Roper,Dave Hemus,Sandor Levai and Ivan Mauger. All 4 of these riders were replaced by Belle vue home produced riders who had previously rode in the then 2nd division.Mauger was the final straw with his departure our run was over. The best team of our three year run in my opinion was the 1972 team of which had 5 home produced team members that never cost the club a penny in transfer fees. So if Poole had the same rules to work with there is a chance that over your 3 year run you were told you had to lose Holder one year and Jankowski the next and replace them with a premier league level rider would you have done as well. Do you still think it was easier back then.
-
All you can do is go off the record books the teams that have won the top league at the time in 3 or more consecutive seasons are Belle vue 1933,34,35,and 36. Wembley 1949,50,51,52,and53. Wimbledon 1954,55,and 56. Wimbledon 1958,59,60,61. Belle vue 1970,71 and 72. Poole 2013,14 and 15. Two teams have had 2 consecutive runs of 3 or more so it all comes down to peoples own opinions.
-
Does the past really matter if Nicholls rides the new Belle vue track well and is in form at the time of the World cup then put him in the team.If not put in the 4 riders who are on better form at the time. Its all about G B doing the best they can in front of their home supporters. So pick the best 4 riders at the time and hope they can all give us fans something to cheer about and a great day at the speedway.

I apologise if i have misunderstood your post. But in my defence you get fed up with the knockers and this forum is full of them.Right from the start you had it will never get built this wont happen that wont happen, and now it is built its the things that they think are wrong with it.It never ends and you sometimes get p'd of with it. Why can't people be happy when good things happen in our sport at the moment that does not happen very often does it. I would think that as a Swindon fan you will know where i am coming from as over on your thread the never will be build knockers are already out in force. On that note nothing will make me happier than when you and Coventry get your own new stadiums built its what this sport needs to keep our clubs alive and hopefully get new fans interested people like their comfort these days. -

All these petty complaints are from non Belle vue supporters who will go to the stadium every blue moon. But as a Belle vue season ticket holder i will be happy to put up with this poor effort of a stadium for 35 meeting or so this year and beyond. The track was origially going to be built right next to the old stadium but from what i understand a land covenant forced them to move further down the road to a sight with a little less space As has been stated before with less space to build the stadium in,the managment have said its all about getting the track right as that is the main thing. So they have chosen to lose the viewing point on the 1st and 2nd bend so that we have a bigger better track after all its the speedway racing that we all turn up to see. Two of you a Stoke fan and a Swindon fan i am sorry to say but you both have more to worry about re your own stadiums than worry your little heads about ours. -

You can see bends 1 & 2 from any other stand in the stadium you know . So its not like you are going to miss any passing is it. Smaller tighter track with bend 1& 2 viewing or a larger flowing track i know which i would choose. -
Never been a big fan of Lewis. But i hope that he has got his head together and that his heart is back into speedway, and that he has a really good season. With a lot of riders now not wanting to ride in the U K he is what the sport needs at the moment a decent British talent that should be loyal to British speedway.Fingers crossed.
