Do Poole have to compete with 42,000 people being at M/C City last night 2 miles down the road.I would think a few Aces fans might have been there instead.Big Euro game v speedway meeting against a lower order team (no offence Lynn fans you well deserved to win on the night). If a fan of both which would you choose. -

So Who Is Going To Win The El In 2016?
B.V 72 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There are 8 teams in the Swedish Elitserien over a season they race each other once home and away. The top 6 teams Qualifiy for the play offs. The play offs are run over 3 rounds Quarter finals, semi finals and final. The top 6 teams are split into 2 quarter final groups of 3 teams each. The top 2 teams of each group qualifies for the semi finals. In the semi finals 2 teams meet home and away with the highest agg scoring teams of the 2 rounds going through to the final. The final is over 2 legs home and away with the highest agg scoreing team winning the league. -
Yep you were right. After today i am going to give up with my two new found friends i have better things to do as mentioned. On the bright side off to the speedway soon.

If any one was wondering why i would find picking dog crap up more interesting than a debate with you this type of post explains it to them all on its own.Instead of responding to the post you in typical fashion just pick out one sentance to suit your point and ignore the rest of the post and for the second time on this subject you call me a liar. I must also comment with all the time you spend on this forum i can see that you have no time to have real live friends so i can under stand that you don't know that real people cover a lot of topics when they are chatting its called getting to know each other by spending time listening to and talking about the other persons interests. So i will forgive you for your ignorance. Do you actually read and understand any of the posts you comment on.

It would seem that speedway fans never talk to non speedway fans about speedway and if they do they get called liers. Now re the facts on this topic until Woofinden did actually sign yesterday there were no facts just rumours. When the rumours first started it was stated that Woofinden was going to sign for Wolves on the 31st of August and looking at the fixture list Wolves have 1 home fixture left at that time so going off this info then yes he was just being signed just for the play offs.(so what other info could i have talked to my imaginary friends about)It would seem with Kylmakorpi scoring 0 against Belle vue this would alter his average and forced the club to sign Woffinden earlier. So going off the info re the original 31st signing date it would seem Wolves did not sign him to help them reach the play offs they were quite confident that the team they had and with having 5 home meetings left was good enougth to reach the play offs and that they did not desperatley need him to help them get there. Now the point my made up friends thought was wrong was is the fact that the sport allowed a team to sign someone better than the rider he was replaceing just for the play offs.Being football fans they said yes in football you can strengthen up a team earlier in the season but not in the run up to the end of the season if you are in with a chance to win the league or in the lower leagues just before the play offs.So i agree with them or myself if i imagined them that the sport is wrong to allow a team to strengthen this late in the season. Now re my making the season pointless comment. This is only my own opinion my imaginary friends had no input on this. Now at the start of the season all clubs put together a team they hope will do well(some better than others)then over a season they battle it out over 28 meetings against all the other teams.I have no problem with a team making earlier season changes if things are not woking out these changes are allowed in all sports. At the end of the season you then have 4 teams that have done well and deserve to reach the play off finals. So i think that it is only fair that the teams with the same riders that got them there should battle it out to see who after a full season is the best in the play offs. It just seems to make the hard work over a whole season pointless if any of the 4 teams is allowed to make a last minute change that gives them any slight advantage over the other 3 teams at this late stage to me is unfair on the other 3 teams and there suporters. After all the whole point of battling over a full season is to win it so if a late change could cause a change to the outcome of who wins it makes the whole seasons battle pointless. So if your team has reached the play offs with a team they have had all/most of the season and they win then they have deserved it but if a team that makes changes to strengthen at the last minute wins it them alot of fans will think they only won it because etc. When the truth is if your team is good enougth to reach the play offs as it is then there is a good chance you could win it anyway if not then you did not deserve to win it. Maybe i am old school and think there is no joy in winning anything unless you win it fair and square. By the way Wolves i have no problem with your club your promoters have done nothing but abide by the rules its the powers that be i think are wrong in allowing a rule that enables a team to gain an advantage this late in the season.Along with many many other rules that even most speedway fans will agree need to be changed.I think this one should be one of the first to go. We all have opinions and these are mine slate me if you like but it won't change my own thoughts on the matter.

B.V 72 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Even after the events of today i still feel that Poole are the team to beat for the simple reason that they have got two very strong reserves. As an example last years final over the two legs Belle vues top five had a combined score of 80 Pooles top 5 a combined score of 63.Belle vues reserves had a combined total of 10 Pooles reserves had a combined total of 29 so you can see who won them the play offs last year. So it could be the same again this year.Over two legs i think Poole Wolves Belle vue etc all have fairly evenly match top 5s but as a pair i think that on paper Pooles reserves are far better than the rest so for any team to beat Poole over two legs their reserves need to be on top form. -
Now he has a 5.40 Elite league average the door should be open for him to drop down to the Premier league next season. If he has his head right by then i think he could still do a good job for someone willing to take the risk. I hope he can he has been a good servant to the British speedway and it would be a shame to see him go out like this.

As much as i would like to get into a loooooong debate with such an open minded pleasant poster such as yourself just like our last debate.I find i have something more interesting to do i have to go and pick up the dog crap in the garden.

All i can say is that if a football team wanted to sign Messi just for a major cup final do you think that the powers that be would allow it and if so would all football fans say thats ok it will be nice to see him play.
-
Over the years i have had plenty of conversations about speedway with non speedway fans and a good few of them have had the same opinion. Now if the sport i love has rules that will allow a club to draft in a world champion ringer in place of an average heat leader just for the play offs making the whole league season pointless and the play off system a joke. Then if i does happen for the first time in my life i will have to agree with them speedway is a MICKEY MOUSE SPORT i just can't defend it any more. I just hope that for the credibility of the sport (and for me not having to admit to my friends that they are right ) that its all pie in the sky and that it does not happen.

You know and i know that the league is just one long qualifying round these days. Poole teams are always built for the knock out rounds of the play offs. You have two number 1 class heat leaders good strong middle order and most of all 2 very good reserves (who won you the title last year) no weak links. All the other play off contenders have one number 1 class rider and 1 weak reserve so over a 2 leg knockout cup Poole are odds on favourites to win.Man for man on paper you are better than any team you will meet and that is why Poole are favourites again this year and you know it.I just hope that this year your speal is right and over the play offs we can raise our game and kick your asses. -

Thats why i said stats at this time it is you who is being a little premiture yes Belle vue may finish up with better stats and then be favourites who knows what may happen they may they may not lets see how the season unfolds but at this time Pooles stats say that they are still the better team and thus favourites. So you saying that Belle vue at this time are favourites is b/s and you are wrong so keep on trolling along. -
If Woffie does join Wolves or any of the other 3 qualifying teams for the play offs i would not say it is cheating at all if the rules allow it then fans can't complain about it Wolves or whoever will have done nothing wrong. But for me it is the biggest problem with the play offs that this can happen. All 4 teams will have battled all season to get into the play offs and all 4 teams will have earned their right to be there with the team members they have(inj replacements and like for like early season changes are ok to me)The play offs are then the time to see who is the best team through a knockout system. So any team who just for the play offs brings in a highly paid ringer will pi$$ off the other teams and their fans no end. After all what was the whole season all about it just makes the sport look ridiculous and possibly make even more fans walk away.If said team then goes on to win every fan in the country will feel that said team did not deserve it and only won because of the ringer. When the truth is if a team is good enougth to reach the play offs then they could on the night be good enougth to win it and if so then everone will know that said team deserved to win it fair and square. Then the sport can hold its head up high knowing one of the best 4 teams over a full season was good enougth to win the play offs and be crowned champions.

Belle vues second strings both have higher averages than their opposite number in Pooles team. Both Pooles reserves have a higher average than their opposite number in Belle vues team. 5 of Pooles team have an higher average than their opposite number in the Belle vue team. Poole on paper, biggest favourites for years most fans thought they would go through the season unbeaten and over two legs should beat anyone.Hope they dont for obvious reasons but for me they are still massive favourites to win.If i was a Poole fan and if this team does not win it i would be well pd off.As a Belle vue fan if we get to the final and can beat this team i would be well over the moon. -

That seems to be a problem with most clubs. The sport does need to attrack younger fans i am trying to do my part and brought my two great nephews to their first meeting on wednesday they both liked it and want to come again fingers crossed they get the bug. But on a lighter more selfish note i am 59 myself and speedway as it is with its older end fan base problems should see me out so i will leave that problem to you younger ones. -

I am sure then that Belle vue will pick Lakeside/Swindon and give you Wolves in the semis. ps beat me to it Aces 51 lol -
Who in a few years time can challenge the Poles their youngsters are top of the world now. All the top Swedish and Danish riders are now in their 30s(Kildermand) just under. So in a few years time these riders could be past their best.Maybe its just me but at this time i cannot see where the potential talent is to replace these riders. The Australians have a few riders showing potential.Lambert maybe for GB.But who are the next top Swedish and Danish riders. In the past you could see lots of talent on the rise but to me there are not that many stand out young riders at the moment (apart from the Poles)If things dont change where will this leave the Swc and the GPs. I am hoping that someone with more knowledge of the international seen can provide a list of riders i have missed.

Think it will take more than that since the turn of the century Belle vue have finished in the bottom 3 for 10 seasons inc 5 wooden spoons and that did not put us off we are still going.BELLE VUE FANS STAND BY THEIR CLUB,and for what our promoters have done for us we will always stand by them.(with a little whinge every now and then). -

Sorry i dont agree with your post. Most teams have missing riders these days just look at your last three visitors i think 11 away team riders were missing over the three meetings. Now this is only my opinion but i think the reason that Lakeside fall away every year is because your track gives you a massive home advantage its very different to all the other Elite league tracks. The problems start because your promoters pick riders that are track experts round Lakeside but most of them do not ride other tracks anywhere as good as they do at home.I would even say that if this team rode their home matches at any other clubs track they would be nowhere near a play off position as they would have lost a good few home meetings. The plan seems to be win every home meeting and hope to pick up the odd away point and just scrape into the play offs. Then if we do that with our home track advantage we stand a chance of beating anyone over 2 legs but if you loose at home this plan goes to pot.The teams that finish in the top 4 will have picked up more away points than Lakeside and you are only in with a chance that the plan will work this year because Swindon have lost 4 at home.So until your promoters pick a balanced team that can win more on the road theres a good chance that it will be the same every year.
