Berrington Lough was no worse to get than places like Mildenhall or Eastbourne and there was a bus which ran from Golden Square in the middle of Berwick to the track for those who didn't want to drive or fancied a drink in the social club . One thing I did like about it was that even with a smallish crowd it still looked packed , they had a set up there that most clubs would die for nowadays . One of best memories of " The Lough " was the sight of Marvyn Cox desperately trying to adapt to the tight conditions and failing spectacularly .but without doubt the best night ever had to be winning the KO cup in 1989 defeating those "Dorset Dumplings" in the final .

Cant say I'm expecting much from this match , wins there are rare about as win at Armadale as long as we can get through this meeting without any more injured riders I'll be happy -
Berwick V Redcar (pl) 23rd May

Decent result last night , but once again its marred by an injury to a rider , also it looks like the engine /clutch gremlins are still troubling Berwick against tougher opposition we might not get away with it . Just when it looks like Berwick have turned the corner and starting to hit a bit of form we're hit with a double whammy of injuries to Claus and to Hynek , and the fact that there's no meetings at Berwick for the next few weeks doesn't help , any momentum that has been gained will be lost , blank race nights for whatever reason are the bane of modern speedway , problem is people get into a regular routine of turning up every week , when its not on they do something else, question is how do you attract them back ? No problem if you're a die hard who's going to come whatever , but if your new to the sport surely you want regular action . Best wishes for a speedy recovery to both of our most recent injury victims -

Berwick V Newcastle Saturday 16th May Premier League

Well anyone who decided to give this meeting a miss and stay at home and watch the SGP would've been disappointed, while GP was another snoozefest this was probably the best meeting I've seen so far this season even if it was bitterly cold again , all the riders in the points , a decent track surface that all the riders could enjoy , plenty overtaking and only 1 last place ( unless you count Bens DX ) , whatever happened during the interval certainly worked , it's usually Berwick who fade in the second half of the meeting but not this week for a change I left Shielfield feeling happy and entertained , hopefully The Bandits can kick on from here and get a few wins under their belts Unfortunately the crowd was disappointing again , short of physically dragging folks in off the street I don't really see how you can attract more folks in , or get the old fans back , if they don't want to come, they won't come no matter how good the burgers are -
Why ? He's a Berwick rider isn't he ? some of us do follow our riders performances away from Berwick

Unfortunately like a lot of other sports Speedway has its fair share of numpties who spoil it for the rest, I don't see any reason why alcohol shouldn't be available just because some crackerjack can't keep his gob shut , plenty people (myself included ) enjoy a drink before, during or after a meeting without causing any problems to other customers/ fans , best option would be to ask the the offenders to desist or in an extreme case have them removed . As for tonights meeting it will be another tough one for The Bandits , I think we might just scrape home , I'd expect Kevin and Sticky will score a wee bit more than last nights return .Hopefully the weather will be kind to us for a change and there will be a decent crowd in . As for the SGP on Eurosport after last years meeting I think Shielfield will be a better option -

If I was fed up with somebody moaning in my ear all the time I'd move to somewhere else in the stadium , or alternatively turn and ask the person responsible to either desist or put a sock in it -

There used to be a crop sprayer at Berwick at one time, don't know where it went , but I agree with others on here a little water every now and again certainly helps to produce better racing -

I though that the idea of having the parade at 6:45 was so racing could start at 7pm , aren't meetings advertised as " Tapes Up " at 7 ? -

They tried sending the riders around in pairs on their bikes a couple of times last year , not sure how well it was or wasn't received by the masses . Personally as I have said I've always preferred the old style practice starts type of parade , it gives the fans a chance to look at the riders starting technique and also I think it helps to give us a chance to see the various bikes close up -

Any kind of win will be a start for The Bandits given their recent difficulties at home but I would guess that 18 points plus would be the minimum required to take into the second leg . As for the missing riders this is mostly down to the open doors policy on riders operated by the Premier League these days , when we defeated " The Dorset Dumplings " in the KOC final in 1989 it was with 7 British riders , changed days -

I sent an email to the the club a couple of seasons ago on the subject of a traditional parade on one of the rare occasions when they actually held one saying how much I preferred it to the current way of doing things. I received a reply telling me that the fans , especially the children prefers the new way of doing things as that meant that they could actually see the riders faces as due H&S regulations riders have to wear helmets now when they do practice laps , whereas on the back of the "Banditmobile" they don't . Personally I don't see why the can't come to a compromise and do both , where the riders do a lap on the back of the truck first then after they have been introduced they can have a few practice laps . -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
DSC67 replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Seems like a bit of a stupid question to me , why wouldn't you select him ? He's our no 1 rider , just because he's chosen to take a season out of British League racing is no reason not to select him . -

There must be a better option out there than Albin , I honestly can't imagine that the management are seriously considering replace Luke with him , don't see what benefit that would achieve it would be replacing like with like surely they should be looking to strengthen and improve the team bringing in Facu would not do that IMHO
