Bandits V Witches. 8th July

And that's exactly what I'll be doing , it's just sometimes staying at home watching the Speedway with a bottle of something cold can seem a more preferable than an 80 mile round trip to Berwick to watch them lose a match that most likely wont be that great -

Stay at home and watch the World Cup , or come to Berwick and watch The Bandits? No contest I'll be on the terraces in my usual spot watching The Bandits . Just like a marriage you support Berwick for better or worse only with Speedway there's no divorce. As others have said it looks highly unlikely well se a Bandits win but as Jimmy Greaves once said " it's a funny old game " -

Back in the day when you could do practice starts without helmets , they turned the caps around to stop the blowing off

Easy home win I'd say just hope all the riders stay safe -
Bandits Facebook page reporting that there's no serious injury to Jye, just heavy bruising good news after what looked a pretty heavy fall

Any news on a replacement for Jye ? -
Very hard to come up with any positives from last night , the performances from Kev & David apart it was a very disappointing night with the injury to to Jye just compounding the misery,. I'm not sure what was wrong with Danny but he seemed disinterested particularly in ht 12 , Barker slowing down to allow Coty pass shows how bad it was . It was always going to be a tough night but TBH right from the off we never looked like we where going to win , when you lose a 1-5 in ht 2 the signs aren't great , but come the next meeting I'll be there cheering on the team , as Brian Cox once sai " Things can only get better " can't they ?

First of I'd lik to wish Jye all th best after a very nasty looking accident. Secondly well done to The Bears great team performance solid scoring all the way down ,. Thirdly a big thanks to Josh for all his efforts tonight ,felt for Alfie Bowtell in ht 14 he had a definite point only to be let down by his bike . Really disappointed with Danny tonight especially ht 12 where I thought he was embarrassing, the usual 100% from Kev & David unfortunately you can't win with two man teams

Jimmy Tannock , Ken McKinaly , Bobby Beaton , George Hunter, Jim McMillan , Doug / Willie Templeton Kenny McKinna Bert Hawkins

Hard to say which way this will go , I guess the performance of the guests in each team and how new guy Joe Jacobs goes will be important, could be busy night for Jye tonight . Going by last Saturdays display Ben Barker could seriously hamper Berwick chances of getting revenge for the defeat earlier in the season

Having Rory in the line up is not a situation I'm very happy about but I doubt it affected the attendance, nor would it stop me going to Cardiff if he'd become champ . Personally I don't think the wildcard should be decided by the result of the British final , as for the turnout I think it would improve if the meeting moved to a Saturday evening this would allow more people to travel from around the country without the problem of having school or work the next day

Will Josh bring his flip- flops ?
-
Why stop at flip flops ? Surely he should have been wearing gloves , protective glasses & ear defenders too , also I'm not sure about shorts and a short sleeved T-shirt it's possible they could also be construed to be a safety risk as wel . Personally I couldn't care less what's on his feet and I can't say I'm surprised that's what he was wearing seems fairly normal footwear for most antipodean folks especially speedwayriders in my experience

Personally I think anyone who grudges riders like Kevin a testimonial are a bid sad , he's been a true servant to the sport over here , unlike some who pick and choose when they turn up .I don't suppose he's ever ridden for " big " money like some riders have . If we where talking about a former world champ then I'd tend to agree but we're not are we. These guys put their bodies on the line to entertain us and I for one am pleased to see Kevin get rewarded for his service to Berwick and alll the other clubs he's ridden for over the years . Good luck to him hope it's great night with a decent crowd
