  1. I would imagine because this would be a source of income for a cash strapped club. The only reason clubs run training days is because its another line of income. The amount of cash the riders pay more than offsets the cost of track prep, medical cover and insurance. A sensible decision to try and get some money into the business in the short-term.
  2. A measured and sensible suggestion of what can be done to help Rye House out of this situation. I also agree re the point about one league is unlikely to happen as at present the clubs all have such diverse business plans (although part of me thinks that some clubs may not even have one).
  3. I would agree with you. He's great to watch and a good fella to boot but I would only sign him if he came with a couple of trucks of shale. To get the best out of him you need to provide him with a track with dirt on the outside. I understand that this season he was critical about the Somerset track as he wanted them to "Give me some dirt on the outside".
  4. No, technically a "free agent" as he has not ridden enough meetings in the UK to become a club asset.
  5. I hope (and pray) that maybe the situation at Rye House is similar to the Leicester situation in the 2016/17 closed season. The BSPA were working to try and keep the club on track. They thought that any statement put out (to clarify the situation) may compromise the negotiations with the interested parties who wanted to take over the club. Fingers crossed that Rye House survive at least until the end of this season and into a healthier future.
  6. Blimey a post about speedway that appears informed and based on fact and some opinion from someone who is a fan rather than a travel agent.
  7. I suspect only obout 175 max so I think only about half of what would be needed to break even. And from where I was stood there was 20 or so Plymouth fans swelling the crowd.
  8. The problem is surely track time, with very few of the promoters also owning their track outright. We need to encourage more new purpose built stadiums like Somerset, Redcar and Leicester, where the promoter also owns the track and as a result should be able to secure more track time for young people who wish to try the sport for the first time or gain greater tracktime to improve their skill level. More track time will obviously mean more expense in terms of consumerables but the fixed costs, bike, safety equipment do not increase that musch with track time at this level
  9. I would be delighted to see Speedibee at BP for one of the weekend working parties, and I know Lions fan since.... will start digging the hole to put him in as soon as the 4's has finished LOL!
  10. RE the Russian Rocket,

I agree but lets remember even the Russians put a Monkey into space!!!!

  11. OK its a 20 min walk from the Walkers into town, catch the 73 bus from Charles street to Beaumont Leys Shiopping Centre, then its a 10 min walk to the track.

I would allow 30 mins to get from the track to the train station via taxi, as it will take 5 mins to walk from the track to the taxi pick up point.

Normally finish about 9.30 - but often final train to London pulled due to engine...

  12. OK so Courtney's gone and whos replaceing him?

If its Jason Gerrity the track staff are in for a busy evening
