What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.
YerRopes replied to doners1234's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You must live in a backwater up there WK... At best, it is one of the oldest most tired attempts at a joke - and most have heard it a millions of times before.. -
I just think Sid gets a bit over-enthusiastic at times and I don't take some of his more controversial comments seriously... He is knowledgable about his speedway and I agree that he generally adds a lot to the BSF...
-
That's my understanding too Tsunami...
-
I would like to say it 'cracks me up too' Sid, but it doesn't... Big difference fans cheering on and idolising a rapist, especially with their abhorrent chants as compared to someone doing a job that normal punters have to do... Each to their own I guess...
-
Regardless of Ms Webster's talent or otherwise I fully support her (and others) stand on this matter... Ched Evans is a convicted rapist and there is no way I would want such a person representing my club, what signal does that send to the young of this country, especially when Sheffield United supporters have been singing 'he can rape who he wants'... I have no problem with him becoming a 'Painter and Decorator' or something similar however... Edited to add, that I wouldn't want him painting my house, but no doubt the supporters of Mr Evans on here would be more than happy to leave him alone with their partners/wives etc... Yeah right...
-
Sorry Starman,I don't really understand that post... I know you are a huge Poole fan and as I've said before I enjoy reading most of your posts...
-
Just cheer up a bit Gustix... Chris Harris has been below par for the best part of two seasons until the end of last year when he got going again...many have had a pop and many have supported him.. As for Darcy, I will admit to not liking him, however he should be treated like any other rider and if the ban he gets is for 6 months back-dated and he can ride the whole season, I don't have a problem with that... Others might however and we are all entitles to our views,,,
-
I suggest you cut out the grizzling and try and be a lot more positive..
-
Agreed Starman - the hearing should have happened at the earliest opportunity as it is only fair on anyone in Darcy's position to know the outcome as soon as possible so that they know where they stand and can make alternative plans (if necessary) As regards your 2nd point, I'm sure any ban will be back-dated to the date of the offence..
-
With regard to Darcy's FIM case, his previous misdemeanors are irrelevant as they are not speedway related... Darcy should be treated in exactly the same manner as anyone else regardless of talent and people's like or dislike of him It suggests paranoia on the part of some if they regard this as some sort of ridiculous 'Poole hater' garbage
-
Fair play Starman, you are passionate and defend your club, cant argue with that really... Even if you are mostly wrong...
-
C'mon Starman, what's the matter with you these days, I used to enjoy some of your more light-hearted posts, but these days you do appear to have an issue with anyone who doesn't glorify the 'cheating' all conquering Pirates.. In fairness to Gavan, his points are mostly very fair on this issue....

Crazy Sue And Her Gang Of Updaters And Texters
YerRopes replied to jrs's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I phoned Martin Ashby one Friday night many moons ago just because he was in the phone book.. After he realised I was not a mate taking the piss, he spent half an hour chatting with me, which to a youngster was absolutely brilliant - something I've never forgotten.. Anyway, as per the thread, yes, a big thanks to those who text and update - you all provide a brilliant service BTW... jrs now has 46 likes - is this a record ? -
Don't particularly want to knock this event but shouldn't it be happening well in advance of the AGM... The 'powers that be' might then be able to take on board some of the views of their customer base..
-
Darcy Ward and 'nose clean' in the same sentence seems a bit 'risque' to me Philip... I would guess that you're probably right though re 2016 GP's assuming Darcy is not on the p*ss for the length of his suspension/ban and can return to the form of his younger self.. BTW...Congrats to Cov for their convincing POSF win Vs the less than Mighty Robins - I did a Shovlar and buggered off abroad for a while, thought I'd got the timing all wrong but events at Blunsdon proved otherwise..
-
Cricket commentators change every 20 minutes rushing from TMS to Sky et al.. I really can't understand the criticism of NIgel and Kelvin..(I know they're not great).. However we do actually get to watch live speedway with some commentary that let's us know what is going on.. Not so long ago, BBC Wiltshire used a plumber to be the informative 'voice of the people' for STFC matches - that really was a joke..
-
As you state, George's career was over...Oh...
-
Don't compare the two WK George Best liked a drink or two, but was no trouble.. He didn't have the kindergarten attitude of Darcy nor the issues and problems that Darcy seems to continually involve himself in.. Only one of the two will be remembered as a 'great' and for his contribution to sport...
-
To be honest Sid, I would argue that speedway doesn't need characters like Darcy.. As he has intimated in his tweet, he has let Poole Speedway down, he has let his sponsors down and probably most sadly of all he has let the Poole Speedway fans down too...(not to mention his other clubs, sponsors and supporters) - does any sport need such characters ? If he were available to ride now, the Play Off's would be a far more attractive proposition than they currently are - injuries are part and parcel of speedway, but 'failing to hydrate' (drinking too much) is not excusable in a professional sport and he, like anyone else should accept any punishment forthcoming. I would add, that he is/was an incredible talent, and I believe he should and would be dominating World Speedway if he was a true professional - sadly (for him mostly) he is not...
-
Strangely enough Keef, the only person I know who is willing to 'go to the speedway' these days was initially a Reading fan, then an Oxford fan and now lives in one of the surrounding Swindon villages and supports the Robins.. Can't be the same though can it..
-
Oh Starman please, don't tease us all so.. Do tell.....
-
Pure supposition Skidder.. If what you state is true, I would doubt he would currently be 'unavailable'.. Unfortunately he has a 'track record' of alcohol/drug induced misdemeanors too.. BTW..all riders need "all the support they can get", the majority of which are far more derserving..
-
I've forgotten more riders than I care to remember these days, but off the top of my head in no particular order.. Martin Ashby, Scott Autrey (good choice Sid), Shawn and Kelly Moran, Chris Morton, Ed Stangeland, Rolf Gramstad, Phil Crump, and of today Peter Kildemand, but at No 1 is Geoff Bouchard Would have picked Darcy too, if he was anyway likeable...
-
Get real Sid, it's more than a couple of mistakes. In 2012, it looked that Darcy had the speedway world at his feet.. Look at him now, a drunk that has made little or no progress.. Very sad, (given the guy's talent)..
