I went to Smallmead quite often in those days, saw Gresham a lot especially in his Bulldog days at Eastville... He was hated by the Swindon fans until he and Phil Crump moved up the road after the death of Bristol Speedway, such a shame that speedway died in Bristol - they used to have the biggest crowds in the country by some distance (even when racing on the dog track)...

I asked for that didn't I Starman,, It's just something that I have thought about for many years.. If you have brakes, you can avoid certain situations and it would have helped both Lewis Rose and Paul Starke out last night... I would be very interested to know why this rule has been kept..

And that my friend is the essence of the sport - as long as all riders and equipment are of a similar standard you will get a good meeting

Off topic a bit, but can anyone tell me why they shouldn't have brakes these days, I would have thought it would make the sport that much safer... BTW...I know little of the technical side and have little interest either, I just like to see 4 guys race in the safest environment possible..
