  1. They had 4 miniature speedway bikes outside the stadium, the kids were queuing to sit on them with parents taking photos. There were alsomany very noisy and enthusiastic kids around us in the stadium Future crowds will reap the benefit of this.
  2. Was at the Wroclaw Krosno meeting tonight, we knew it would be a slaughter before booking and apart from the Lebedevs race win the meeting was pretty average. The atmosphere was something else though.
  3. I've always liked Kolidziej despite riding for those in Reading.. Would like to have seen him in this year's GP series. Think he's 41 now, but his form over last season and this puts him right up there still.
  4. I'm not surprised that we didn't see an interview with Jason Doyle after that appalling decision l. He must be fuming.
  5. Well done Krosno. Meeting dragged on and took over 2 hours though. The demands of TV I guess.
  6. I used to go Eastville in those two seasons, crowds of around 8/9K, dog track left a lot to be desired as a race track though. However, you could get closer to the racing as a result. I can still picture Michael Lee flying around the outside, just a few feet in front of me. Quite scary. As for Steve Gresham, you are right there Steve, I didn't know a single Swindon fan who liked him in the Bulldog's colours. He turned that around when he joined the Robins though, he was a hard rider and rarely gave up. A nice man off the track, I believe..
  7. Enjoyable meeting, good performance from Krosno, Lebedevs EF proved costly on last bend whilst leading. Fun between the crowd and Doyle too..
  8. Let's hope the race night issue can be resolved then. I know the Scandinavian Wednesday meetings don't help matters. The PL needs at least 8 teams to be taken remotely seriously, hopefully the gradual return of Polish EL riders will help. Btw, you'll be up there again in 2023.
  9. Tbh Lisa, I thought it a very complementary post re Poole. For whatever reasons, Poole cannot compete in the top league anymore. Sadly, neither can Swindon.. However, your success has continued in the Championship. Poole are ruthless at times, but that is what has brought you so many trophies over the years.
  10. When Poole realised they couldn't compete at the top level anymore they dropped down a league. That move has been successful, you can't argue with their results. The Pirates will do what's necessary to be up there this year, no matter how ruthless.
  11. Vague memories of my first meeting back in 1973 against Belle Vue with both Collins and Morton. Being a bit young, a friend and I died many times rolling down mostly bend 1 after being hit by shale. Swindon were something like this.. Ashby, Hitch, Hunter, Keen, Stangeland, Handley and Leonard. Brian Leanord had magnificent white leathers, but rarely scored a point from memory. Phoned Martin Ashby as a 15 year old and he chatted with me for about half an hour, tried the same a fortnight or so later and he put the phone down on me, can’t blame him really. I loved watching ‘Battling’ Geoff Bouchard, disappointing to see how he was treated. Saw Jan Andersen when his first race from reserve . Rolf Gramstad was one of my all time favourites and I met him near the Paperback Parade shop, long since gone, but opposite Swindon’s main library today. Steen Mastrup was steady too.. We used to stand on the back straight, opposite the start line, it was more expensive to go the other side at the time. They did lovely Cheese & Onions rolls in the back straight stand then. Saw the tests against the USA and Russia too, I remember Kevin Pope scoring a fair few from reserve against the latter. Thought the support for the USA was from their English clubs supporters, sadly.. Too many riders and good nights out to mention, it’s so sad to see it’s finally gone... Back straight bogs excluded..
  12. Excellent meeting so far, hope the rain doesn't bring an early finish.
  13. I'd go with that.. Felt sorry for Lampart, he had it 'in the bag' and would have sneaked third overall.
  14. No real surprise sadly. Those involved have done the supporters up 'like kippers'.. I hope they're proud of themselves..
  15. Congratulations to Dan, thoroughly deserved. Good performances from Tom, Connor and Leon too, it's good to see the younger riders continuing to improve. Craig Cook back to his best as well.
  16. Not a Royalist by any means, but had time for HM. Such a shame we can't show our respects at some forthcoming sporting/cultural etc event.. A missed opportunity.. Hammers fans were excellent last night.
