I posted the exact same request on here last year. From memory, the airport is about three miles from the town. You will see the track as you land assuming you are on the same flight path. There's an hourly bus from Stockholm that picks up at the airport. The track is in the woods about three miles out of town but in a diffent direction to the airport. There's no public transport to the track, I had to take a cab both ways, about £8 each way. In theory you could walk it or cycle as there appeared to be plenty of families in the woods and it doesn't get dark till very late by UK standards. The town is fine - there's at least three reasonably large hotels and plenty of shops. There's not much nightlife although there is an English themed pub (Oscar Wilde?) at the bottom of the High St. The stadium is pretty basic - no cover for spectators and little wooden beches for seats. Other than that it's grass banking. If the weather's good it's a lovely way to watch speedway. Enjoy!

I'm just an occassional poster on here these days but couldn't resist this topic. My own memories go back to 1970, Hackney v Wembley. Many of fondest memories have been covered by others, but my favorites are: The blind man who came around selling sewing kits for charity. The programme shop when it was under the main stand. The souvenir shops on the first and second bends ( I got a whole season of Crayford progs for a quid!). Living in Mile End (still do) and running (yes running) home after meetings to keep fit. The Junior Hawks Xmas party in Cherry's. The coach to Leyton after the meeting. It leaked whenever it rained. Dave Morton - a legend. The meeting in Cherry's when a prospective promotor (Swedish?) told of his plans to re-open. The Ben Howe match races before a meeting. So many memories. If only....

Thanks for Toon Army for the advice on Griparna. The Tourist Info in Nykoping was also very helpful. Basically, it's about three miles from the town centre. It cost about £8 each way in a cab. You could walk it but it would take the best part of an hour each way and some of it would be along a major road (E4). At least you wouldn't need to worry about the light as it doesn't get dark till almost 11.00pm at this time of year.

I'll be in Sweden later this week and hoping to see a match at Griparna. I've trawled the net but can't find any directions so any advice on how to get there by public transport would be welcomed. Is it very far from the centre of Nykoping? Thanks in advance.

I'm going this year for the first time. Anyone know what it's like geting tickets? Can I pre-purchase or would I be safe turning up on the night (day). Looking at the pictures the stadium looks more exposed than Assen - is this right? Any advice gratefully received?

I've decided to give Assen a miss for 06 in favour of Berlin. The flights and hotel are booked but could anyone give me some background as to how it may vary from Assen? Is the stadium open-air or are spectators under cover? Also, is it relatively easy to find ? Will I need to but tickets in advance? Cheers....

Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said? A great weekend, amazing racing. Met Pammie and Midnight Lady all too briefly. Had the pleasure again of the company of Joanne and her liberated pencils (!). Great organisation from Eurorider - will definitely go again. It seems like a few people are a bit unwell after the weekend, well i have something far worse - I can't get ''yes we have no bananas'' out of my head. Has Ice Speedway twinned with the Eurovision Song Contest ?...

My knees still haven't forgiven me for our 'stroll' around Copenhagen. Still, the brewery helped ! In typical Doc style I'm regretting not being organised for Cardiff - I may even turn up on the day and chance it. Oz - great. West Ham - not so..

Hi Joanne, for the record I made the mistake of walking from Newport station and it took me over an hour. On the day after the GP there is usually a crowd of speedway folk at the station to share a cab with - just make sure you get a phone number for the journey back. As ever I've left it too late for the GP so it's another night in front of the TV. I don't think I could take another trip to Cardiff so soon after the play-offs. Enjoy the weekend..

As long as the walk involves a brewery I don't mind...........

FWIW - I went this year and found that Copenhagen was on a par with London for prices. Flights are dirt cheap if you book early enough and finding accomodation under £70 per night in the city centre was difficult. If you add the cost of the GP tickets and other 'expenses' (getting to airports etc, beer money etc) it comes to a tidy sum. If you want to make economies you could always avoid the local transport system and walk to the Stadium (eh, Joanne !). I thought the stadium was decidedly unsafe - a complete lack of safety barriers and grab rails to get to/from the cramped seats, and the view from the top of the stand was so acute that I had a stiff neck for days. Even if I could afford to go again I doubt I would - like many people I'll probably look to try somewhere different next time. No disrespect to Copenhagen - I just prefer a bit of variety.

I bailed out on Friday around midnight and left Rico and Tomek in the capable hands of Jesper B Carrot from the Lincolnshire Constabulary and the Bobby Charlton Appreciation Society. Maybe you went back to the first bar we were in ? Not my cup of tea really, but whatever turns you on !! Denmark is so much more liberal than England, isn't it ? Apologies for not meeting up before the GP - Joanne and I went to the Brewery and didn't realise that it was about 5 miles from Parken till we walked it. Great weekend, really enjoyed it. Didn't think much of Parken though..... Till the next time.........

Rico, do you mean the Ibis Star ? There doesn't appear to be an Ibis Crown ! I'm in the Star and will meet in the bar at 7pm. What am I saying - I've just agreed to meet some Scots for a drink in a bar where the beer is not cheap. I think I'll bring some extra Krone...

Joanne, I've had the same problem with tickets. Although the website has a union jack icon for English speakers the last bit is in Danish so I don't know if I've got a ticket or not. Will have to check with my credit card company. It really isn't very professional, is it ?
