  1. Unlikely, for a start Tai can gate. Plus he'll be powered up by PJR.
  2. Tai said he'd only go in to the series with good sponsorship. I expect him to be a Monster rider next year. As for MJJ wining a GP, yes he did, but Bomber won once too... MJJ has age on his side and if having Tai in can help other British riders in the future then let the lad have a go.
  3. Tai has a better average than MJJ in the UK... MJJ also scored 0 in the GP challenge. Lets level the argument a bit here folks.
  4. Well, considering injury blighted his qualification, he scored 0.
  5. The sarcastic he's not a Brit comment... Getting boring now to be honest. As for MJJ, he may have won a GP but he scored a huge 0 in the GP Challenge. I also love how most people have not even considered the fact he may have refused an invite - like Ward last year... Tai is in, he WILL have the British flag on his chest - that's enough for me. Good luck to him! He can't be any worse than Chris, and to be fair, he has been solid all year despite injury.
  6. No, I spotted it and tried to cancel it after hitting submit. The original release that I received (which was embargoed) had his name off the list as a typo... silly me! It seems you were right SGP.
  7. Nope. It's WARD, HAMPEL, WOFFINDEN and VACULIK... Announcemt should be made Tues/Weds next week.
  8. PLAN is for the announcement to be next week. Your 2013 wildcards are (but not officially confirmed): WARD, HAMPEL, WOFFINDEN and VACULIK... I expect the organisers will use the following reasons for their inclusion: WARD - Invited him last year but said he wasn't ready. Has improved in 2012 so a natural choice. HAMPEL - Certainly a World-class rider whose 2012 campaign was ruined by injury. VACULIK - A suprising but capable rider who impressed in 2012 and clearly proved they could mix it at the top level. WOFFINDEN - Second time round, matured as a rider and person, has improved on averages etc... I don't expect everybody to accept the above, but, it's come from a very reliable source and of course, I work at the SGPs so pick-up on a lot of 'talk'...
  9. Hi folks, we're here in Torun and word going round is that there could be another SGP star retiring from the series in 2012. I hope not
  10. AS I have said more than once, Hampel was told several weeks ago to 'prepare for 2013'... Hampel is IN! The others, I expect to be: Ward Woffinden Vaculik
  11. The Monster sponsored series will probably end up with a Monster sponsored rider winning the title. I think it all boils down to the track and [possible] tactical riding by some... and not for the first time I'm flying out on Friday morning, with a few other crew, so we'll see what the tracks like ahead of the big day.
  12. If Bomber didn't rider for GB, he wouldn't be the first. I do remember the late Lee Richardson not wishing to ride for his country due to 'issues' with the BSPA. That said, I do feel Lee's decision was more viable than Chris's - who just wants yet another hand-out.
  13. THERE may be another retirement before the 2013 SGP line-up is confirmed folks.
  14. HI Phil, I appreciate you may have spoken to the 'man' who does make the decision, but equally I know for a fact Hampel and Ward WILL be invited. Hampel HAS been told he'll be in next year - that doesn't mean he's been invited, but he's certainly been told to prepare for next season. I am happy to prove this offline if you so wish. As for Ward, he is nailed on - he was asked last year and said no, he's one of the sport's top talent - so the organisers would be rather stupid not inviting him. HE'LL be in trust me. Also, Ford's beloved Poole will also force through a squad system in the not to distant future for the 'benefit of the sport' of course. I appreciate you work closely within the sport, but equally, so DO I... I respect your position and but please don't disregard my comments just because you;ve been told something different. If we're both being told different things from reliable sources, then only one of us can be right... If Ward and Hampel are not in the 2013 series, then I will say I was wrong... Out of interest, would you invite a Brit, and if so WHO? Or, can you not answer that because of your position Errr, not really! OK then, no Ward or Hampel next year. I'll take a note of your comment for next season when they are both IN the series.
  15. I know for a fact Tai will be invited, whether he accepts is another story. He's been very open this season concluding he'd only go for it if he had the sponsorship. Darcy will accept his offer this season and most probably sit out of the British EL, or at least that what he's said. Hampel has already been told he's in next year's series - though of course, nothing official has been said. So assuming Tai and Darcy accept, then that leaves one more spot. As Phil Rising has already hinted, AJ is not certain of an invite next year, and he's right - AJ will NOT be invited back if he fails to make the top 8. Depending on the SGP Challenge result, will mean that Vaculik will be invited in. I often wonder, as places are so few and far between, what would prevent the organisers from increasing the number of riders in the series... I know it's been mentioend briefly within. Also, side note - the SGP should have a British representative, and we should encourage our riders to aim for that. It's also very good marketing to have a national 'hero' in the series.
  16. I'm sure had it been Gollob and in Poland, they would've done something - it's called respect. Sadly, I feel the organisers have let themselves down.
  17. I booked my hotel Sunday night - was told date on Saturday - and got two double rooms for £80.20 each and that includes breakfast AND FREE cancellation upto one hour before check-in. If people want the luxury of free cancellation, book your hotel on booking.com If you're ever unsure on what date Cardiff is, check the Holiday Inn - the one next to the stadium - they either tell you the date or you can tell when rooms are unavailble. Equally, a quick call to the press office of the stadium normally works.
  18. I've spoken to Tai and he's openly said to me (and others) that he would "consider" the SGP IF invited, but only if he had the sponsorship behind him. I think any Brit will incur cost, so it's key to have backing. Personaly, I'd like to have a British racer in the series, I think without one we'd lose more interest in the sport. The 'top 16' is becoming harder each year, and I've often wondered why they don't allow four more riders in and make it the top 20. I think they'll become a point when a top talent will be not included because they've limited the series to just 16 riders, Often the GP qualifiers is represented by someone who failed in the series previously.
  19. Though I find it annoying when they show repeat after repeat, there is little oportunity to provide a magazine type show. I know Nigel and (whichever) co-host present a review type show for the SGP global market, but I don't think SKY have purchased that package.
  20. Apologies if this has already been detailed elsewhere on here, but I discovered the following article earlier and wondered what you thought of it? http://www.methanolpress.com/2010/07/catastrophic-further-collapse-in-cardiff-speedway-grand-prix-viewing-figures-contributes-to-dramatic-further-decline-in-overall-british-audience/ Thanks, deadmau5
  21. No need to wait folks, it's on their site: http://speedwaygp.com/en/venuecardiff2011/ I've just booked my hotel, two rooms, £95! Get them now folks...
