Hume may be one of the if not the weakest number 6 in the league, but I'd say he's being signed so the top 5 is stronger not to strengthen the reserve berth! I still think he's better than some make out, for example his Champ ave is 1 point above Mountain's who many seem to rate!
-
But in Peterborough's case they would be signing a 4.1 rider on a 3.1 average, Wolves signed 2 riders on their actual aves!
-
Very disappointed if that's the case, one good rule brought in to help improving British riders, short handedly gotten rid of as it doesn't help other promoters to win! I think Danyon Hume would find it very hard to get a spot without the 25% reduction. Makes the RS system pointless if a rider improves then gets dropped once he's no longer a RS! Surely the whole point of the RS system is to bring riders on to fill other spots in the team!
-
Disappointed to see quite a few comments along the lines of "if Ipswich have Hume at reserve alongside a RS, they'll get the wooden spoon" 1) surely with a bigger reduction 4.09 down to 3.07, Hume would be a good signing? 2) shame about the lack of "backing the Brits" 3) surely Hume / Brennan / Mountain moving up is what's best for British Speedway? Riders can't stay "rising stars" forever, so I'm hopeful all 3 will get team spots!

Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)

That shouldn't be an issue, as long as he's fit by the play-offs. I'm pretty sure Sheffield will reach the top 4, even if they have to carry him till he's up to speed! -
"The inclusion of a MYLAPS timing system is great, it won’t fundamentally change the sport, but all the timings will be accurate and there will be no dead heats or poor decisions when it comes to the finish line" What happens if two riders have identical times lol!
-
Why not announce their own heat leaders, so people will realise Harris won't fit in their team?
-
Those averages already include the British reduction. Also MacDonald would be on a 4.00 ave
-
Still a NL reserve, even if you argue his average would put him at second string in half if the teams, riding at second string would cause his average to drop!
-
But if Glasgow want to use him & Brennan wants to leave, who can afford to buy his contract?
-
The problem with dropping Brennan now, is after a riding at number 5, if he goes elsewhere as a 3rd HL he should then raise that average considerably. Glasgow need to keep him to benefit from leaving him at 5, especially as they never used Basso in the harder position - leaving him on a high average!
-
I know they lost (a lot of) money last year, but don't think they'll be able to increase their crowds at this price!
-
Charging adults £20 each (in a weaker league) must be the way to afford it?
-
Connor Bailey's average makes no sense as he hasn't ridden any Premiership averages? Anyway as far as I'm aware, the minimum ave was & still is 3.00
-
Harris had a 9.66 / 8.64 split which is fair. His away average is much the same as his starting ave, so in a weaker league shouldn't drop it at all. Basso may find it harder to retain his ave, riding at 1 or 5, but as he's an improving youngster on the up, think he'll be fine as a heat leader.
-
If Wells wasn't retiring I'd say he's worth a shot on that average! Same as Heeps, did well when he rode for Monarchs.
-
Ricky Butcher was probably better than Ricky Wallace lol!
-
Hook has a better rolling ave (& 2022 ave) than James Pearson and it seems Birmingham fans are delighted to have Pearson back again. So Hook can't be THAT bad!
-
Cory Blackman was far better than Ricky Wallace
-
I agree, I feel Master's is a 10 point rider, but Morris is as you say on that ave due to the 10 match rolling ave (dropping lots of poor matches)
-
Just too long a tail for me!
-
I disagree, cause I'd expect them both to up their averages
-
Totally agree
-
Personally I think Kasprzak would be a good signing on a 6.86 ave, could only see that going up

Need a "rising star"
