I made the comment last year that stand alone clubs should be able to enter both NDL & NDT competitions, with the same 7 riders. Buxton & Kent Eagles for example. Then all the doubling up clubs join one or the other. As long as it's decided before signings are made a rider could choose to ride for Kent (NL) & Kent (NT) or like currently Oxford (NL) & Plymouth (NT) for example. It didn't work with Leicester this year, as they were a last minute addition, so only Sonny Springer rode for both Leicester sides.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
szkocjasid replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Morley & Ablitt were overlooked due to the averages to a degree, plus Ablitt didn't want to travel. Both of these riders would have done better than a 2.00 rider, but couldn't because of the averages. So it's not correct to say they weren't picked because they wouldn't be competent enough. -

Would be interesting to see if clubs like Glasgow raced on occasional Monday's if Bewley or Kurtz was due to visit, likewise Redcar on a Thursday (their previous race night). I'm feeling the best solution is to have one big league, allow GP riders, allow clubs to race on their preferred race night & allow guests when riders are missing for foreign meetings. Not ideal I know, but I haven't read a single "ideal" scenario so far. Plus the likes of Danny King & Chris Harris etc who will miss out on doubling up, will make up for that with extra guest meetings! -
It can be tough to judge riders in circumstances where they only beat "poor" riders, but also only lose to "strong" riders. When it's a team like Glasgow with 5 heat leaders & 2 inexperienced reserves especially.

Now I don't think this would work, but if they are desperate for a 6th Prem team, rather than running Northampton out of Oxford, would they not be better reviving Newcastle? Is the track still there? The idea of the other 5 clubs agreeing to cover any losses feels impossible to me (can't remember who said it on here) but feel a former team returning would be a lot more financially sensible than a new track in an area with no Speedway history (Northampton) or running a corner team at a current track (Swindon at Oxford). -

If you meant Douglas & Sayfutdinov, that was a mistake (now corrected)

GP line-up and venues for 2026
szkocjasid replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Apart from Torun & Warsaw, every track has a double header. Only Belle Vue hosting 2 GPs, others hosting SGP2, SGP3, SGP4, SON2 or SWC meetings. Fans wanting a weekend of racing have plenty of options. SWC qualifiers & SON2 on GP weekends will probably help the organisers make money / lose less money than this year. -
At Armadale, I'd have Wood before Smith. Wolbert would be an amazing signing on a 5 or 6 average.
-
Wouldn't surprise me. Berwick or Workington most likely.

I guess it depends how many clubs are interested in him? Can't imagine he'd refuse Berwick if he had no other offers. Also can't imagine he'd be on the radar of many teams.
-
How about? Chris Harris - 8.90 Kyle Howarth - 7.92 Leon Flint - 6.95 Francis Gusts - 5.49 Luke Harrison - 4.97 Mitchell Cluff - 3.00 Freddy Hodder - 2.63 Total 39.86
-
While Harrison hasn't been able to transfer his Scunthorpe form to away tracks, he's still far better than Hodder. Harrison's away ave is even better than Hodder's home ave. If it's a straight choice obviously Harrison is the better option. No reason why Glasgow wouldn't want both though.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
szkocjasid replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If 2 leagues are needed for 2026, why not just run to Championship level leagues? Have a strong league 50 points limit and a weak league 36 points limit? Use Champ averages. Teams like Glasgow & Poole may prefer to be in a "strong" Champ? Any clubs thinking of moving up (Mildenhall) or new clubs, may find the weaker champ more affordable. Not ideal, but a way for British Speedway to survive? -
What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
szkocjasid replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If it's one "medium" league, then I'm sure riders would want to renegotiate their contracts. Pickering may have asked for a amount based on scoring 13 points a match. If one league is stronger, he'd likely ask for more, if one league was weaker, Scunny may want to offer less. -
I'm not sure why Kye would be considered a gamble tbh? If he had been at reserve all year, but would be in the top 5 next year (like Jacob Hook) I'd understand it being a gamble. Based on the last third of the season, I'd rather him a very positive signing, even if he can't keep that form up, don't see his average dropping.
-
You could say that about any rider tbh. Personally I'd have Kye in the team.
-
Don't know if that's the case, can see an argument either way. For example it'd be unfair on a rider like Kemp who averages just over 4 & struggles to get a team, but Jenkins drops below 4, gets a guaranteed RS spot, then gets another big reduction. But the downside of allowing it only once, is a young Brit gaining an artificially high average & missing out next year, not the plan behind the RS system. I had previously thought, what if once a rider drops out of the RS system his average reduction goes down in stages? 1st year 20%, 2nd year 15%, then 10%, to a final 5% reduction. Raise the reduction for all Brits from 2.5% to 5%?
-
Personally I don't think Dan would struggle at all in the top 5, but would have more scope to improve his average at Leicester where he always seems to do well.
-
plenty of sensible points. I'll disagree on the Hook comment though, rather than say he'll naturally struggle in the top 5, I'd say he may struggle in the top 5.
-
I would rate Dan T to be a far better number one than Kildemand in 2026, could be the leagues top rider imo.
-
As a second string on a track that suits gaters far more than Scunthorpe, I think Worrall would be a good signing (if he hasn't retired).
