BERWICK v GLASGOW (BSN) April 15th - 7pm
szkocjasid replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think having the stronger rider at 5 (Basso) is normally what's best for the team, unless you don't have a strong second heat leader & chose to sacrifice heat 13 to score better in 12 or 14. However I'm expecting this to be a one-off & Brennan returning to number 5. -
1) I don't believe they'd do that (especially with limited guarantees now) 2) those matches don't count towards the averages

I'm not suggesting Nicki should choose the UK over Poland, but surely he's a big enough star not to be bullied into compliance. Let's say he says to Grudziadz he wants to continue racing for Peterborough, what are they going to do drop him? As SPEEDY69 says - no chance. What if Nicki tried to call their bluff?

Plymouth vs Poole BSN series 11/04/23

You make a very good point. If Tuesday is called off race the BSN match on 25th Apr, the KOC on 6th Jun & the league match can be raced in July. -

This is one match I'm very interested to see the result of - mainly due to see how Plymouth's team building of a strong top 5 gets on against Poole's solid team with decent reserves. Like many I wouldn't be surprised if Plymouth's reserves only score 1 point between them. -
I can't see Edinburgh or Berwick winning at each others track, so a bonus point against Berwick should be enough to put Glasgow in the BSN semis

Belle Vue v Wolves KOC 1st Leg 10/4 12.00

Interesting to see Brennan at 3, I'd have assumed he'd be at 2 as he did so well from there last year. For Wolves I might have had Scotty at 5 at home, but not away (especially at Belle Vue). -
Poole v Oxford - Good Friday

I never boo riders, as it's such a dangerous sport, I'd hate for a rider to get injured after I'd bood him & would feel awful. Maybe I've booed once, towards Nicki Pedersen at Cardiff, only to show my displeasure to the referee for excluding Bjarne Pedersen & Leigh Adams, when Nicki slid off on the first bend. -
Or finish with and now he can't even make rent

Plymouth vs Poole BSN series 11/04/23

Well they're not gonna decide they've got thier team building wrong & make a change before their first match lol! Even if Turner can't deliver the goods, his average will never drop below 4.00, so they could always try another foreigner till they get it right. As long as they're in the top 6 by September, that's all that matters. I think with their strong top 5, I can't see them missing out. -
Glasgow v Edinburgh , Easter Sunday
szkocjasid replied to Weeyin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As a 2.5 rider - no As a rider taking up 4 points in the team - maybe yes. There was neve much chance of Jacob beating a top 5 Tiger, so it was really Complin who he could've beaten to impress more. That being said he did beat Pijper repeatedly, so should have the beating of many Championship reserves this year. -

I've not seen the Cook / Basso incident, but one issue causing situations like this & Kerr / Palm-Toft is that unless someone crashes referees hardly ever exclude someone - kinda encourages riders to shut the door in someone's face, knowing you can get away with it. -

While Hook looked decent enough at Armadale, after beating both reserves in heat 2 on Friday, he then only beat Ace, for the rest of the 2 matches. So I think his score may flatter him a little & if he was riding at 2 could've ended up scoring 1 point per match? Like you say if he goes up to number 2, could struggle! Not likely to happen for a while though as he's carrying a 2.5 average that would need to rise above 4 to replace Fredriksen in the top 5. -
He's one of the reasons I predicted Workington to win the league
-
TJ averaged 6.71 at home vs 5.70 away last year, not a big difference!
-
Have to agree with Flappy (to a degree). There was enough riders to go around, I thought all 7 clubs had positive sides to them & expected a close season. Now while Peterborough & King's Lynn have had a dissapointing start, the season isn't over yet & can both still qualify for the play-offs.

I've never understood comments like this, if Jorgensen is inconsistent on a 6.3 average that means for every 3 point score, he gets 9 in another fixture etc. If he scored 9 every week, his average would be higher & he wouldn't fit in the team! Speedway riders are not robots, you cannot guarantee to find a 6 point rider who will only ever score 5,6 or 7 points!

I think Sheffield could easily cover for Musielak at home using r/r (everyone gets a ride) it's away from home they may need him more. However with the current play-off situation, teams don't have to be at their best all year - just in the final 4 matches.

Looks a pretty weak team, aiming to give Brummies a confidence boosting win to start the season? -

Glasgow 49-41 Edinburgh On paper Glasgow should win by more, but Edinburgh have a habit of going closer than expected at Ashfield. -

Wouldn't his performance on Friday have done that? -
But surprised at Mildenhall's choice of guest, but will be interesting to see how Harrison goes. I would've moved Trigger to 5 for today's fixture though.

I expected Berwick to get the wooden spoon. Not because they looked awful, but because they looked slightly weak in a league full of very strong teams (on paper).

Fantastic effort so far by Berwick at Leicester. I thought Leicester would be far too strong for them!
