Workington v Leicester 08/07/2023 3pm ko cup 1st leg

Fancy Leicester for the win over 2 legs -
It's easy to say that, but harder to name sensible replacements!

Starke & Nielsen is clearly stronger than Dan T & Joe T, but are they stronger than Dan T & Clegg? If Starke can do what he's capable of then, yes it's the strongest option, with the bonus of Bowtell at reserve! Although not sure why such a fuss is made of Bowtell being able to get 7 rides a match, only way that will happen is injuries or a couple of top 5 riders riding poorly - not what Birmingham want. More realistically it means Bowtell can get 5 rides a match & Hagon only needing to take 3.

There's a big difference between Boxall sitting out a couple of seasons & Rickardsson returning after 15 + years though!

Even ignoring his ban for refusing a drugs test, I don't see why a rider should have his average reduced unless injured!

Oxford vs Berwick - Champ - 5th July

After 12 heats I thought I was way off with my prediction! -
So they could have chosen to increase his average?

Average shouldn't drop at all imo.

Oxford 53-37 Berwick -
I've not seen any of Turner's races so can't comment on of he was likely to come good, can only point out Plymouth are stronger with Pearson. It would make sense for Turner to have a go in the NL (I believe it's an 8.00 ave as that is what Hook & Pearson got signed on) I don't know if it's true, but I previously read Plymouth blocked Turner from signing for a NL side, which makes no sense to me - could only see that helping his scores for Plymouth.

Sheffield v Peterborough Monday 3rd July
szkocjasid replied to 4BenMoran's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I'm not gonna compare it to other sports because I feel Speedway is in a greater need to keep it's customers happy. As it currently stands the promoter's keep the full admission, but don't pay out the full points money - so technically they are better off financially by calling a match off after 10 heats, while the fans get less value for money. Surely it should be the other way round? While you point out that clubs still have to pay rent etc, if the money refunded is £1 a heat, that's the equivalent of fans paying £15 a match to cover riders payments - the other £7 is still there to pay bills etc. I'm sure Glasgow vs Berwick was the worst example, did it go 6 heats, so fans got £4 off? I certainly wouldn't be happy paying like £14 for 6 heats! -

Iversen is still scoring better than Basso it Cook, so I don't think that's the reason? -

Personally I think fans should get a refund if any match doesn't go to heat 15. Say £1 a heat, so anyone at Monday's match gets £5 off another Sheffield meeting this season? The promotion must be saving money not having to pay points for 5 races, so why not pass that saving onto the fans who paid for a full meeting? -

Maybe leaving at 2 to counter Sedgmen who is very strong at home? Personally I may have put Worrall at 5! -

If Oxford can win at Berwick without Kerr, then they should get a very comfortable win at home. I'll predict an Oxford win by 1 or more points (all they need for the bonus lol) -
If true puts Bowtell at reserve!
