21•06•18 - Swindon v King’s Lynn - Premiership
Woz01 replied to ReadingRacer2017's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It's what happens when you change the Thursday fixed race night to a Wednesday. It's about time the BSPA showed some actual leadership and stop pandering to two or three clubs every year. -
Don't think any decision is made on next year but I'd guess they'd want the crowds to improve a little to do the same next year. If Brandon was saved then the club would come back, why wouldn't it? Either Horton would run it and not lose money or sell it to whoever is interested in running both sports in the stadium. Horton is willing to sell.
-
I do disagree with that. The government appointed planning inspector recommended that Brandon is given greater protection which would make planning for houses extremely difficult unless there is another facility within the borough or nearby. The group made that happen. Don't get me wrong it's a long shot to save Brandon but this does give us a greater chance to do that or even a new stadium. We shall see what Brandon Estates do when planning is refused.

Promotion are running the team and Save Cov Speedway group are campaigning. I don't think there is any chance of Speedway or Stox being at Brandon next season at this stage so it'll either be Leicester or no where. There are still 8 'home' meetings left plus the 4s so when it gets into the latter stages of the season we may hear what the plan is (if any) then.

Poole Pirates Vs Kings Lynn Stars 13/06/18

To be honest they should've kept it Mondays and Thursday and just told Ipswich and Redcar that if they want to name d/u riders then they don't get priority. Simple. -
Coventry 1. Mountain 2. Phillips 3. Ruddick R/R 4. Harris 5. Armstrong 6. Halder 7. MacDonald Cradley 1. Roynon 2. Andrews R/R 3. Bickley 4. Edwards 5. Bowtell 6. Kemp 7. Widman Two teams without their permanent home. I think this meeting can go either way, looking forward to seeing Kemp ride.

Rory is very passionate about British Speedway and is even helping the youngsters in a project that he is hugely involved in. -

Today's meeting should be a lot better. A super track and riders that have done well at BV in the past. Plenty of spoilers in Milik, Covatti, Bellego Lahti and Berge. -
Yes I was been told that was the reason. Hopefully just needs a few days rest.
-
Great result for the Bees that should give us some confidence. It's a shame Ruddick had to pull out but hopefully his shoulder injury isn't to bad.
-
Coventry 1. Mountain 2. Phillips 3. Ruddick 4. Harris 5. Armstrong 6. MacDonald 7. Halder Kent 1. Bowen 2. Hampshire 3. Stoneman 4. Rowe 5. Thomas 6. Laurence 7. Spooner I like to think Bees will have enough to take the win by 6-8 points and start a new 'home' winning run.

Teams Eastbourne 1. Wood 2. Edwards 3. Baseby 4 Powell R/R 5. Brennan 6. Dugard 7. Brooks Coventry 1. Mountain 2. Ruddick 3. Phillips 4. Harris 5. Armstrong 6. Burrill 7. Halder Like to think we can keep it close early but Eastbourne at Arlington will be a struggle.
-
Absolutely. As the Save Cov Speedway group have said us riding at Leicester does not hinder what the group are trying to do. If speedway and Stox are not running then it would be difficult to show an ongoing need especially further down the line. It's been said several times this season that Bees in Leicester is temporary, will always be temporary and it's not a replacement for Brandon. We need to be back in Coventry. Also we only have a one year deal. Brandon Estates are trying to say Leicester is a long term solution, Horton and Leicester has rubbished those claims. Also again Leicester is not a replacement for Brandon as it can't run stox and that cannot be emphasised enough. It' not just about speedway.

Eh? Rules are different in the NL, you can't just get the likes of Drew Kemp to guest for MacDonald, they have to be an unattahed 3 pointer. Riders do have poor meetings occasionally, Jon Armstrong has upped his average by almost a point and you won't see many sides getting 37 points at Birmingham. They are very strong in the heat leader department and of course they have Leon Flint. It must also be stressed that Coventry were only able to start their team building once we were fully accepted in the league way after other sides start putting there's together. It was always going to be difficult competing at the very top this season and crowd sizes will dictate some of that also. That's not to say there won't be future changes when averages allow in a month or two.

So today is the biggest meeting of the season so far. Very hopeful of a much better crowd although Coventry hosts BBC Big Weekend today and tomorrow plus CCFC at Wembley tomorrow.
-
I did think myself. However still think it will be close.
-
COVENTRY 1. Mountain 2. Harris 3. Ruddick 4. Phillips 5. Armstrong 6. Halder 7. MacDonald BIRMINGHAM 1. Bacon 2. Cupitt R/R 3. Parkinson-Blackburn 4. Walker 5. Hume 6. Butcher 7. Flint Big meeting in terms of a bit of local rivalry and the National Trophy table. I can see this being very close indeed.

Birmingham should win comfortably although Morley will put up some opposition.
-
The 2nd Eastbourne meeting was very good, if you have two competitive teams you'll get good racing. I suspect that will happen v Birmingham. The IOW meeting wasn't the best but that was due to the gulf in class on the day. Mountain v Morley was good though!
-
Phillips at 4 seems to make us stronger especially at Leicester as Ruddick has put in heat leader performances there too. I'm guessing Leon has rode at Leicester in the youth championships but obviously not at this level.
-
. It will be close I think.
-
Its a big meeting Sunday anyway being local rivals but winning tonight makes it even bigger. We have a chance to make a final. I listened on the radio, fantastic job from BBC WM. It was also nice to see more Bees fans taking more of an interest on social media tonight and it seems a few went to support the lads.
-
Cracking win for Coventry 49-40!
-
Thanks. There are others who are also doing their bit too whether it be attending or volunteering. I do my best for the fans that want to go and the riders that wear the Bees racejacket, nothing else.

Cradley 1. Roynon 2. Andrews R/R 3. Bickley 4. Dwyer 5. Bowtell 6. Chattin 7. Edwards Coventry 1. Mountain 2. Harris 3. Armstrong 4. Phillips 5. Ruddick 6. Halder 7. MacDonald Kemp not riding for Cradley is a huge boost for the Bees. Bees again change their riding order, I like the way Martyn MacDonald changes the order for each opposition. Hoping Bees push Cradley all the way.
