  1. I get the feeling well will at least start the season at Leicester. Does Hemsley still own the stadium?
  2. There's a few people you could blame for this.
  3. Yes but how many years ago was that? Must be 70 years. Would it be worth potentially alienating a large part of the fan base with a change of name considering Speedway is struggling for fans as it is?
  4. Coventry council don't claim the Bees name do they? It's not even in their jurisdiction so not sure what they can do in this situation? They can only help if there is a new site is available. Poor that you find it so easy to suggest a name change, it's not like the local economy don't benefit from having the stadium there. Cllr Stokes is trying all he can because he knows how much COVENTRY Bees and COVENTRY Stox can help the area.
  5. We certainly haven't taking it lying down. We've had meetings with the relevant people over the last couple of years, shame only one party has failed to attend any so far.
  6. They rent the Ricoh Arena from Wasps. Rumours they will move to the home of Coventry Rugby's Butts Park Arena but that'll need serious renovation. The move to Northampton didn't work at all, most games only 2,000 attended.
  7. It's a local paper not the Guardian. Some of the stuff they found in the Sisu/council debacle was excellent. I agree Dave Rowe does an excellent job for us.
  8. Over 10,000 people have got in touch with Rugby Council about the issues at Brandon.
  9. Rugby Council say one option open to them is a compulsory purchase order but that's a long way down the line.
  10. Has anyone been at the stadium in the last few days?
  11. I think Brandon Estates employ a 'spokesman' to talk to the media. The paper is very good at investigating things, they've found some interesting stuff about CCFC owners Sisu and what they are doing. I have asked them to have a look but don't know if they are. Its difficult to find out about directors and shareholders when the company is based in Jersey. Some say that's convenient.
  12. The problem is the dispute between Brandon Estates and Sandhu, that needs sorting before anything else can proceed. I guess Horton can't do much or release any information until then. To be honest personally I'd rather they wait until they give us actual news instead of the stuff we've had from Sandhu + Heaver and Brandon Estates, their recent public media spat can't help any negotiations. They've also contradicted themselves more than once trying to spin the situation. I don't care about any of that that, I just want news on whether we are running or not.
  13. I have zero faith that we will run, I have very little trust in any of them.
  14. "We understand the concerns over the lack of official club updates over recent weeks regrading future plans- the situation is a complex one which involves continual intensive negotiations, however we remain committed that the club will be on track in the 2017 season" "Our best wishes for the festive season and as soon as there is genuine news to report we will do so"
  15. Coventry City Council ran the Ricoh Arena for 10 years before Wasps bought it. I'm sure there are other councils that do the same.
  16. There was no application, the council advised that an application would likely fail. This is pretty much spot on I think. A move to Leicester would only work if fans were fairly convinced it would only be for a year and that we would be racing in Coventry the following season. Otherwise what's the point?
  17. Apparently there is an article in today's Coventry Telegraph written by Bees press officer David Rowe. Has anyone seen it, it's not online as yet.
  18. We were told in 2014 that Investin Brandon Ltd bought Brandon Stadium and they were the company that had their name splashed all over the development plans when they were shown at the village hall. Recently we've been told Brandon Estates (Jersey) bought the site late 2015 which incidentally was around the same time Brandon Estates ltd (based in Sutton Coldfield) was dissolved. Coincidence? Also there is a company called SSB Homes which had as it's address Brandon Stadium which has since changed it address to Long Acre trading estate, Sandhu list some of his businesses there. Sandhu isn't listed as a director but is a shareholder, his family are listed as directors however. Maybe a coincidence but they list their assets at 2.6m, fits in with around the price of Brandon. SSB Homes specialise in the development and design of residential property. It's all very dodgy if you ask me and questions need to be asked.
  19. Agree. Shovlar has his faults but on this occasion he's done nothing wrong here. Contractors have definitely been in and tidied the place up since Sandhu handed the keys back. There were transit vans there just before new year so I guess they were there for that. I wonder who paid for the clean up?
  20. But of course theyve moved stadiums. I'd hope if Brandon had a similar project the stadium would stay where it is!
  21. Fully agree with this. I couldn't care any less about the 'background' things all that matters is a track that is fit and safe enough to run. It isn't at present. The Ricoh is a great facility but it wouldn't be much good if there was a hole instead of a pitch.
  22. Yes this Brandon Estates is based in Jersey so isn't at companies house. It's been tidied up since the last set of photos. Unfortunately it doesn't stop the fact we need the track, fencing and floodlights fixed.
  23. He did want to upgrade Brandon a while back but was refused permission because he wouldn't budge over 1 metre. I think it's highly likely he will benefit from development on the site in whatever capacity, developing houses on the site will make 2.2m look like pocket money in comparison. Developing the site for housing is a long way away though.
  24. It's something Cllr Stokes alluded to at a meeting as he doubts 250 houses would ever be allowed on the site.
  25. Fans contributed to the air fence and they got their name on them for the contribution.
