This is great. Someone has lost a thread and someone lost the plot
-
Now you have done it again...... is it 'looks as though you have learned something' or should it be 'looks as though you have learnt something' ? hmmmmm
-
This might be of some interest? A Road racer who is thinking of swapping over to speedway/Longtrack after being dropped by the BMW team https://www.speedweek.com/sandbahn/news/151193/Superbike-Profi-Reiterberger-will-Bahnrennen-fahren.html Glad I worked out in the end what the strange term of phrase meant.
-
Are you saying 'cross-Atlantic speedway' is a form of speedway ? really not getting what this is supposed to mean. Or is this phrase 'cross-Atlantic speedway' meaning speedway on the other side of the Atlantic, on the American continent? A strange phrase that I have never crossed before
-
Yes, but Canada and the US are on the same side of the Atlantic. That is what I don't get. how could he be on the verge of dropping out of 'Cross-Atlantic speedway then ?
-
Found this by John Hyam that needs a bit of clarification. The bit about in 1937 he was on the verge of dropping out of trans- Atlantic racing? Yet it states he first came over in 1938.... I maybe reading it wrong, but doesn’t make sense. How could he be on the verge of dropping out, when he wasn’t even riding in the UK ? http://www.speedwayplus.com/GeorgePepper.shtml

Guess there were probably more greyhound meetings than both Motorsport lumped together
-
Not sure there was a competition or anyone was counting. But I guess dogs won...
-
I think you have just shot your self in the foot here. The previous post shows your lack of debating skills perfectly gustix!!! I think you have the wrong end of the stick firmly in your hand there
-
And Bert Harkins was, probably still is passionate about getting a Scotland team back. Sadly now it appears to be a non starter as I would think they’d have trouble getting a competitive pair, let alone team
-
Got his name wrong, but despite that in my time of going he never rode for England. Think Steve is talking about the England teams of the 70s most probably. And who of that generation can argue that those teams were great ?
-
The evidence over the years, not just on this thread. That is what I am talking about. Are you ? I think if he is honest he would even admit he has been strange over the years. In fact I think he even admitted such just a couple of weeks back
-
All sounds plausible until you see that he is writing articles about events much further back than that. Now he either has a selective memory or he knows where to research things. Given that and his continual posting of links to historical sites I would think it very strange that he asks about this meeting or in a previous thread asks about the size of a certain track he has previously written about on a number of ocassions.... Look at the evidence and judge, rather than jump in and post
-
And if I am correct my cousin Martin Elliott finished last in the last heat, and is proud he was the last rider to officially ride the track

Interview with Wittstock boss Frank Mauer. Names a few riders who should be in the team including Celina Liebmann and golden oldie Mirko Wolter. Also Ben Ernst is included, although I thought I saw yesterday that Łódź want him. But translation wasn’t good and somebody did mention Łódź loaning him out.. His son will be made captain of the team https://m.speedweek.com/speedway-racing/news/151177/Premiere-Deutscher-Club-in-polnischer-Speedway-Liga.html Also talk of a 'Nikolaus' meeting like the old meetings at Stralsund in December. 7th I think was mentioned

Not taking anything away from others, but someone who joins a foreign military to fight deserves special praise. The same as Clem Beckett fighting against fascism for the International Brigade and losing his life on the battle field I don’t know the George Pepper story though ....

What about Morian Hansen’s exploits for the RAF ?
-
That was done in post # 2 !!!! You need to concentrate
-
Could it have been a testimonial or veterans challenge meeting ? Especially if Banger was also involved. Rather than an official fixture
-
Yes. I did see a t-shirt on sale the other yeast with the word speedway on it and a motorbike. But it wasn’t a speedway bike, so I guessed it was some sort of American thing, so decided against starting a thread. Nearly started one when I saw a red jumper with a yellow star on it, but thought it probably had nothing to do with Wimbledon as it was on sale in Germany. Probably made in Vietnam

The give away es when she said she was going to support Doug Wyer at this big world championship meeting in Poland !!! The 1976 world final

Anders Michanek - Swedish career
iris123 replied to lucifer sam's topic in International World of Speedway
Surely that is the problem? He stated something that needs clarification. If his memory is playing tricks, as it sometimes does, then asking him again might be no help -
Is it down to the printer or the photographer ? Probably the printer if it is the same through the whole mag. Don’t get it, so can’t say. But remember the discussion about the new kid on the block and the accusation of bullying at the beginning of the season. And one of the things that came up was the over saturation of colour in his pics. Some loved it, some didn’t

It is a simple fact that the majority of immigrants over the centuries have been poor, so have no other choice but to find cheap accommodation, hopefully near the chance of a job. Dock land areas have tended to be those areas, not only in London or the UK, but around the world. They are then the areas that have had poor standards of living and health and high levels of crime. But they have mainly hosted a majority of people who want to better their lives and especially the chance for their children. And when they have the opportunity move to a better area. This leaving a place for a new generation and so the circle goes on, just the faces change Bottom line in all of this, is Split had a great career at a high point in speedways history. He should have been made for life, with no need to enter crime. He wasn’t at the bottom of the ladder by any means I would also say the life you choose is very much your own decision, just like the words you choose. Bobbath made his own strange decision and you can’t just use a get out that ‘others’ use it as well.
