  1. Again I have to disagree on the Challenge. Not sure what a look back at the top 5 over the past decade would give. But like to bet there would be. few names that would be well out of their depth in for a whole season !!! Just because I remember watching Lubos Tomicek almost qualifying
  2. Are we about to see a new, or return of an old club starting in Neubrandenburg in North Germany https://speedway-nb.de/
  3. Also hosted the world championships...plus we have had a few ventures in the region. Briggo and Mauger took the sport over and I think a decade or so later there was also a meeting or two.
  4. Handball is hardly high profile, nor attracts high spending fans from what I have seen and also centered around a small number of countries It is though fairly inexpensive and easy to introduce and obviously there were a good number of players willing to change their nationality. And probably unlike in speedway with a couple of years experience and training a few locals were in the National team
  5. Yes, I agree. I mean some of the Middle East countries seem very keen on getting a sporting tradition established. Hosting all sorts of sports and even giving foreigners a fast track citizenship in Handball for instance to establish a world class team. The money is there, they are willing to build stadia etc
  6. In certain aspects speedway is on the backfoot anyway. The climate for Motorsport in a lot of countries is somewhat negative now, more than ever. In the traditional countries you tend to be fighting against other sports that have far better support nowadays anyway. Football is king. Even here in Germany there has been growing interest for other sports, quite strangely really as I am not sure there is a great marketing strategy. But darts and rugby seem to be growing You could say new countries should be open to the sport. Spain for instance. And the Middle East and Asia for sure. But nothing much has come out of any venture
  7. Could have, would have Basically all the wonderful ideas and enterprise BSI/IMG were supposed to have have ended up being unsustainable. They now seem to be on the backfoot and not too keen on expanding out of the comfort zone. Now ask why. Have they lost money or are promoters not willing to lose money for the sake of BSI ? It was for years said from sources in Russia that BSI were asking too much for a GP in Togliatti. Phil said this wasn’t the case it was other matters. But ice speedway and the Euro series could hold meetings there. Now all of a sudden the GP is there. Is it because they are running out of options ? We also has the FIM announce a new deal for a world team series or whatever it was called. The first date in Germany was called off at short notice. Then it was announced a great promotion company was taking over and going to host the meeting in Dubai or near. That was a few years ago and we haven’t heard anything since.....
  8. Does mean little, because that is fantasy land. If speedway had a good marketing and promotional strategy in the US or Australia or basically anywhere apart from Poland it wouldn’t be in the actual position it finds itself in
  9. Means very little. Hancock is pretty much an unknown in the States. And nowadays being a world champion in a fairly small sport means little to the outside world. Even a popular champion like Nicki certainly is in Denmark done little for the sport. There was an article the year after his last win where the DMU or the Danish League stayed there wasn’t a boost in attendances due to his title win
  10. Never in the equation. Speedway is long gone and not in the Millwall concept. Not really in the modern football concept of rectangular stadium, so the fans are close to the action. The New Den was supposed to be a multi- purpose stadium and the club did announce they were working with a company who wanted to put events on at the stadium. But it was no great success as far as I remember. Not sure if anything other than football now takes place
  11. They were, because that is how they were affiliated into the world of speedway back then. New Zealanders and Australians, as much as it seems strange now had no other way of getting into the World Championships etc
  12. Castagna comes out with a load of rubbish. And a lot of poor developments for the sport under his watch
  13. Buggered the SWC and now done the same with the GPs
  14. Yes. Sometimes need clarification, but you can do something else. I am patient and can wait. I know you seem to have little patience and will post the same question over and over to make sure it gets noticed Think we waited over a year for you to answer a question about Mike Bast....
  15. You do seem to enjoy visiting this place though. Hardly off it Plus seemed very keen to get onto Proper Speedway as well
  16. Yes there might well have been a real Jack Keen, but it was you, pretending to be him on Proboards wasn’t it ?
  17. Strange that there is still a section for a magazine that has closed more than a decade ago
  18. No, I seem to remember for instance that Jack Keen from Kent was also a contributor on the Proboard group. Have you forgotten or was that the real Jack Keen ?
  19. Thought you also had a group on FB called weird world or something, that basically consisted of you copying stuff from elsewhere, with little or no other contribution?
  20. You used to run groups like that until they got even less posts and probably died a slow death. Seem to remember you had another name and posted to make it look like there were more contributors. Then you got rumbled
  21. How would we be in any way able to help, not knowing the person, nor how the hell he came to the conclusion the track was that size? This needs clarification
  22. Ok. I thought 'learned' was more of an American term of phrase unless you were talking about a 'learned friend'. But you can always learn something
