I know, this again is a long shot, and obviously the remark by Martin, wasn't made by you, but do you think you could come up with one or maybe more suggestions as to why he would refer to you as 'whimsically exccentric'. It might help us to understand the modern John Hyam.....This is something that I understand to be in print and possibly a number of people are asking themselves the same question
-
Yes, I know it was a long shot on my part. But judging by your shall we say, rather patchy memory, maybe it is worth having another mooch around for said scrapbook as it might still be in your possession, having thought you popped it in the post, but never did ?
-
What may I ask were the contents of said scrapbook ? You fail to expand on this. I am intrigued as to whether it was paper clippings of Adam Faith. Marty Wilde and Cliff Richards

Wondering about the number of foreign riders who came over and got married in the UK and/ or married a local woman ? Vic Huxley brought this to mind as I think he married a local ‘dancer’ . Cordy Milne did. marry a famous burlesque ‘dancer’ but she was American. But think brother Jack at least got married in London though not sure if it was to a local lady

Must be some mistake surely ? I have heard one or two descriptions, but that is the kindest so far. Maybe hasn’t aged so well

This part is interesting and surely wrong. I know it has been mentioned that at the time the surface used in the US was different to that in Australia and the UK, but the track shape was similar, was it? Just going from one or two photos. But it seems the 1960s revival was based on much smaller tracks ? Jack Milne being involved in that

I also thought Ronnie had a stint, but wasn't sure on that at all
-
What about it ? I was just pointing something out, not answering every question going. I guess as a proper Charlie you might know

Think the England captain pre-war was basically the man in charge. At least on the trips to Oz. Think even with the football team there was no proper manager until after WW2

My personal feeling is they will be slow to open things up here, after a few incidents where around 100 people have been infected including church gatherings and one or two Muslim festivals to end Ramadan. They start having 1000 people at a sporting event we will probably have hundreds infected and end up back where we started months ago -
My old dad always say's bullsh-t baffles brains. I guess Rob is the man to lead the campaign then Don't give up on us, baby Lord knows we've come this far Can't we stay the way we are? The angel and the dreamer Who sometimes plays a fool Don't give up on us, I know We can still come through

It might be all over for Rye House
iris123 replied to Rayleigh's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Don't over react. You know what it is like here. You've said goodbye often enough. Just get on with doing your bit in private without telling anyone about it. If Rye House is saved, we will know who is responsible. Thanks for your effort in advance -
Do you have a Hamburg pre-war one by any chance ?
-
I didn't say he was. But I think he was originally banned for wishing another forum member was dead ?
-
Well I guess he had some power in the sport, they way he threatened (I imagine he was backed by other promoters) to ban Briggo from defending his world title if he didn't race for the Dons
