Not sure what is happening with the league, but whatever pans out Esbjerg have stated they will not start. Back for 2021

You have to hand it not only to Robert, but to his parents as well. They put the hours in and were dedicated from an early age. He travelled around in that camping van (when I saw them first) at the weekend getting him experience and not staying in the comfort zone. Rather like the Aussie riders. Of course not everyone is able to do that. But it seems to be paying off now and good luck to him and his parents for that

Reading about Geoff Penniket got me thinking, seeing as he came from Merton, that he never rode for the Dons. Then there was Steve Schofield from Carshalton and also Steve Hone who came from Merton. None rode for the Dons. Any other strange cases out there ?

Also a bit misleading the way I read it at least. He had a number of meetings before riding at Wimbledon and seemed to be in and out of the team and his season petered out and was hardly scoring at all near the end..... Some good bits of film of Finnish speedway from the 50s online, including Pajari I think. That Helsinki Velodrome looks a great place

Polish Extraleague 2020

I don't know and can't say how sensible it is. 4 hours on a ferry!!! There needs to be a big bonus for me to do that Maybe it is cheap drinks on board that gets them on ? I did the Dover- Calais trip once, but in all honesty it wasn't for the beer or wine, but a day out. Just as we can do the trip to Heligoland for a big tax reductions on stuff. But it cost about 70€ for a start and takes hours, basically a whole day is lost and then you need to buy some really expensive tv or mobile phone to make it worth the while. For me it isn't worth the hassle -

So much of society isn't attracted to speedway. Time to think out of the box

Maybe speedway could attract the lgbt crowd with a gay bar in the stadium ?

A lot of people on here just don't get it. They think 'wow, isn't it cheap to get in to speedway. They have priced it cheap to attract the fans. Why can't they do that in the UK?' And don't look at the broader picture. The lower wages in Poland. The totally different sporting set-up. The different league set-up. The sponsorship set-up and tv,etc. It isn't cheap for Polish fans, but they don't have too many meetings to attend, so can afford 8 or 10 meetings a year. I went to the Jancarz Memorial meeting, with a fantastic line-up and cheap prices, but the stadium was more than 50% empty. Maybe because fans don't like meaningless meetings and also possibly because they can only afford a certain amount. For someone to say, it has nothing to do with wages/cost of living it total nonsense. And to say you can fly over from the UK, stay in a hotel and get into a meeting cheap. Ok, you can, but you have still paid out way more than you do to get into your local track. Just the atmosphere is better and you are enjoying something different. We can all understand that. But don't come out with rubbish about it being cheap. It is like me saying it is cheap to buy petrol in Poland, but I have to drive a few hundred miles to the border !!! For those people lucky enough to live near the border, they can and do take advantage. Just like one or two towns south of the Danish/German border are full of Danish supermarkets, selling Danish products in Danish prices(a lot cheaper than over the border though) with Danish money, the staff talk Danish and even the traffic signs on the premises are in Danish rather than German. And the place is generally packed out, but it isn't worth driving from Copenhagen to buy beer there -

Maybe. But it is a different system altogether. First most clubs don’t have their own stadiums and clubs on the continent are run differently . In Poland I think a lot are sporting clubs with different sports under one umbrella just like in Germany . Bayern Munich and Barcelona aren’t only football clubs. And I think some of the Polish speedway clubs are the same and get local government support. -

Similar in Poland too. If a normal seat at say Zielona cost 50pln they have a section where seats might cost 120 I think -

All different factor. They get help from the council and from sponsors. In the UK the speedway club usually has to pay out rent and often don’t even get the car or food takings and don’t get much help from elsewhere.... -

Yes it is like the 1,000s who supposedly go to Borussia Dortmund games from England because it is cheaper than English Premier League... -

The pricing is low because the wages in Poland are low.If you want to pay less to get into speedway ask the UK government to lower wages in the country and low and behold everything will probably be cheaper, even speedway. That is why if you lok. at Denmark everything is more expensive as you also earn more. Nothing to do with getting the price right -

Of course a bargain, unless of course you are earning polish wages or have to pay for flights and hotels -
Yes. Bit premature I guess, considering. Same as other places have opened up and now having to do a U-turn...

I wouldn't bank on it. Currently having a second wave and with tourists etc there could be a big increase and another lockdown, as we are seeing in other countries https://www.euronews.com/2020/06/27/czech-republic-reports-highest-daily-increase-in-covid-19-cases-in-over-two-months

The gismo might have been subsequently banned, but unlike other riders with dodgy bikes, nothing happened to Smoli, which I would say is important in the level playing field thingmy -

Thing is though for foreigners you aren’t allowed into the country unless you can prove you have booked into a hotel etc for 6 nights, which might be difficult for the rest of the riders and officials ? You can always do what it seems a lot are doing. Show your booking at the border and once in the country cancel !! But as so many have done that already they are trying to stop it. Plus there is still the crowd problem....
