  1. spot on there.Know the meeting 26 May 86.That makes it heat 9 with Per Jonsson.Have another with Nielsen leading Andersson and Jonsson, might put that on later
  2. The photograph says 1954 on it, which would fit in with the team members. I agree with bucket the rider on the front right is Keith Gurtner. Your probably right.the photo says 54 because that was my original thought going by the riders i knew but that guy at the front was making me think it was earlier. CHK, i was wondering why Pat Clarke wasn`t mentioned.he was one i expected to be there although i haven`t the faintest what he looks like
  3. Great help so far Must say i`m amazed.Any info on Brian Davies and Jim Crowhurst, must say i don`t know them Never heard of Mac Woolford either. Thanks Bucket the Southampton team i wasn`t expecting too much help with. How wrong i was. Put a few more on.The Dons riders i think one is Ronnie Moore.Poole 88 Its the back row on either side of Neil Street.Rye House 1, its the no 6 kneeling.Rye House 2 ,the one at the back between Naylor and Andy Silver and the one kneeling in front of him.The other Rye House team i dont know the two riders between P.Shroek and R.R Ta As for the Courtnell brothers i see there is a T.Courtnell listed in 54 whats his first name if its him, anyone? Must admit when i have looked at the photo i always thought front left looked like a Russian then saw Hveem rode around that time so presummed it was him. Thanks Norbold
  4. Thanks.Put a Swindon team on as well if you could help.I know the obvious ones Kilby,Broadbanks but guess you could give me the lot and a year :)Barry Duke with the beard?
  5. Thanks so far.Must admit i have not seen a picture of Norman Hunter without facial hair i thought maybe Dickie May but was totally unsure.Doug Underwood was another i kinda thought of as he was the only one i knew with that style of beard.I reckoned the West Ham team was 1952 or 53 and the foreign looking rider kneeling left possibly B.Hveem?.The only one i`m fairly sure of is the Reading vs Oxford one as i took that Frigbo, any idea of the year for the Weymouth team?
  6. Not got a pm,but have put some pics on the webshots site.see the thread i started Thanks
  7. Need help indentifying riders if anyone can Don`t know how to do a link but they should be on community.webshots.com/user/maccattack
  8. Kevin H or any other Crusader fan i have a couple of pics of Canterbury riders circa 1970 that i cant identify.I have been on the Crusaders web site but cant see anyone like them there.is it possible to mail them to you to see if you can help. One looks a real bruiser with a striped shirt and a slight Elvis sneer Also got an Eastbourne rider i`m unsure of as well
  9. Canadian team is same as i mentioned taken in 1938,at Custom House.Kneeling is George Pepper,J.Hoskins,Eric Chitty and his daughter then Jimmy Gibb
  10. Vintage Speedway mag also had a question about a Canadian team from 1938 and had problems naming the riders. All they could do was name the riders that were on the tour.Bob Sparks,Elwood Stilwell,Bruce Venier, and Eddie Baker. The photo looks to be taken at the same time.Maybe one of them.VSM vol9.No4 if anyone has it
  11. Its a good point.Seeing as Glasgow`s stadium was built in 1928 ,some 20 years after London.I don`t know when the others were built but i would have thought that White City was a bit "old hat" by then even allowing for the fact the world moved at a different pace back then as you know.
  12. Definitely "Deutsche Jugendmeister 2002".He was 16 this time last year when riding in the Meck-Pomm Landesmeisterschaft at Güstrow finishing fourth behind Schultz,Hefenbrock and Daniel Rath.Bahnsport said he was the Überraschung of the day and the sub headline says "Danny Knakowski überragend" so he is definitely one to watch out for .oh,and i think he comes from Klaber but apart from being somewhere in M-Pomm it isnt on my map
  13. To be honest the GP`s don`t interest me that much so i haven`t even seen what your talking about I`ll have a look but maybe German Speedway Fan might be a better help if he is around.I think he is more interested.I only know the stuff about getting a German rider a wild card for Prague if enough Germans buy tickets so i would have thought they would be happy for more to go with them
  14. Was Junior champ 2002.Just moved to Güstrow this year from Teterow who seemed to get rid of their riders.Dont know much myself Searched through Bahnsport and found a bit more.Maybe the junior champ was just the Mecklenberg/Vorpommern champ. He was 26th in the 2.Bundesliga with a 7.5 ave for Teterow.he has a 3.75 ave this year in the 1st league to start withwhich is one of the lowest. He made the main final of the Ostseepokal at Teterow though finishing ahead of Klingberg and Havelock. He was in the German junior final last year and came 7th.I see he is also nominated for the Junior world champQuali at Abensberg along with Tobias Kroner and Martin Smolinski Hefenbrock and Thomas Stange riding in Latvia and Mathias Schultz riding in the semi final at Vetlanda.Dont know how old he is....
  15. So its a case of Brazil being named after the nut rather than the nut being named after the country so to speak The area getting the name from the stadium Seems like a strange name to copy though especially so many time
  16. Agree with you on the B-license riders. The way they picked themselves up after first bend bunching a couple of times and went back out was great to see But to say "Hampel sucked big time" on the German forum is a bit over the top.I mean i don`t know how often he has been to Güstrow but to get 9 points in such a line up ain`t too bad for a youngster Most of the others have quite a bit of experience there.I just thought he wasn`t used to such a tight track and after a couple of rides he improved, dont see such a big thing in the fact that Knakowski passed him ,these things happen
  17. Suspected so as well, but didn`t know Generalisimo Franco had anything to do with it
  18. Why did we have a number of clubs/stadiums called White City ? Was it just the fact that White City(London) was such a good stadium that others around the country and of course Glasgow named their new stadiums after it.Anyone out there know
  19. Vielen dank, Iris.... You probably know more than me then,i was born in Clapham,South London and never learnt German in School
  20. Teterow result P.Karlsson 13+3 N.Klingberg 13+2 S:Ermelenko 13+1 A:Dryml 12 R.Povazhny 11 Ronni Pedersen 11 A.Smith 10 C.Hefenbrock 8 A.Svab 7 D.Knackowski 6 A.Pietraszko 5 D.Rath 4 J.Davidsson 4 E.carillo 2 R.Haupt 1 L.Tomiczek 0 Apparently not a good meeting,and the fans not being allowed to take food or drink in feeling ripped off Might have to change my ideas about going to Teterow this year
  21. I see also that the Czech`s are saying if enough German fans buy tickets for their GP then a German rider will be given a wild card.So its not about getting the best riders together, more about who is going to attract more fans
  22. Olching 42 Parchim-Wolfslake 31 Brokstedt 27 Neuenknick 20 Totals Brokstedt 68 (after 2 meetings) Parchim-Wolfslake 54(2) Olching 42(1) Diedenbergen34(1) Stralsund 22(1) Neuenknick 20(1)
  23. Jeffster a few web sites to keep yourself updated www.mcguestrow.de www.mscbrokstedt.de www.bergring-teterow.de not too hard to find your way round them even in german
  24. Some good racing ,especially from Andy Smith who came from behind in 3 races including beating Karlsson.Nicholls also came from last to get second place in heat 10,but try as he did he couldnt take Karlsson in the run-off.Hampel was a bit slow getting going but looked o.k in his last few rides.Must give a mention to Roberto Haupt who scored 2 points from his only ride as reserve where he beat Mell and Puodzuks. Not a bad crowd (2,500) considering half the town seemed to be going to Rostock for the footie By the way i don`t think Roberto Diener will be at Teterow as he was badly injured in the Bundesliga meeting at Diedenbergen
  25. Funny you named Langfield i wanted to ask if anyone remembered him!Don`t know if i ever saw him but always remember reports from Australia during the winter and people at the time(73 was when i started keeping programmes)saying he was one of the best riders not riding in the British League. Was he that good?If i remember correctly he only had a career average of about 6 points
