  1. Soldier Blue,wasn't that a triple x film from the 70's
  2. Andy Meldrum, did he ever make it to London Don`t ever remember seeing him.Was often programmed to ride but never made it to any meeting i went too.Always work commitments or something.Another Farmer?
  3. The Milkman on holiday then,is he
  4. Remember meeting someone on the London Underground who said he was Soldier Boy(late 70's early 80's)although i think he must have been an imposter or the photo isn`t that good
  5. The photo was taken a while back as the Old Den was knocked down and re-developed for housing. To go in the Ilderton Road entrance you used to pass what was remaining from the old speedway stadium, the old gates, etc also up in the park(well it was achildrens play area when i was there there was still the remains of the terracing from one end.Once Millwall moved down the road i used to go from the South Bermondsey end so never went past the Old Den or the speedway track to know if anything still remains or if the area was re-developed along with the Den.
  6. Take a look here as it seems Phil Morris has changed nationality http://www.mcnordsternstralsund.de/5015519...95481202d01.htm

    Second Halvers

Thought there would be a family connection.

    Second Halvers

Was a guy called Jason Hubbard in the junior team. Seems your Unc has another story to tell,eh

    Second Halvers

Where was Honey second halving for you Iris The way i read it "in their second halves" didn`t necessarily mean they had to be one of the local riders.Steve Hone rode a few times at least at Plough Lane in the second half as did a certain Hubbard.I was one of the people who stayed for the second half almost without fail as i found them very entertaining
  10. Don`t want to upset anyone but it occurs to me that maybe the fact that he rode for Wembley and that was where the World Final was always held played a part there. If it was held anywhere else i wonder whether he would be a double champ.Good Luck to him he done what was needed but i wouldn`t think he ranks with Peter Collins for a start

    Iwade

Paul Dowdall and Rocky Coutts were juniors at Wimbledon in 1973,maybe earlier.Pip Austin as well,so they wouldn`t have started in '75.In fact Dowdall at least had made a few appearances for the Dons by then
  12. How do you come to the conclussion that most British supporters think he is a villain. It can`t be from this forum and though i have not seen the speedway star i gather they were a bit surprised at the controversy.
  13. What about the Wembley book Norbold? Not going so well or nearly finished
  14. I was born in England from Scottish parentage and although at various times i have supported both i certainly wouldn`t support a team called Britain.I now support no national team, based mainly on my experience of going to an England v Scotland footie match and finding myself standing shoulder to shoulder with Rangers fans who i have a bit of a dislike of
  15. JT,what is all this "Lord of the Longtrack"?I ain't seen his name down for any Longtrack meetings here in Germany
  16. You can do better than that, you can tell me where it is.I've been trying to find Cardiff and Krsko on the map
  17. I think both G.P's in Sweden were poorly attended and the first one in Poland got less than some of their league meetings. Is this the premier series or what
  18. Maybe you will come down to Brokstedt next month.Denmark are riding against Germany,Sweden and Poland
  19. What did he do then ? Wore a loud shirt in a built up area, which is a hangeable offence in England still What is a "Wore a loud shirt in a built up area". And excuse my lack of knowledge. His top was a bit lairy. The English are known for their drab clothing. It has been said that what with their love of queues and grey clothes that communism would have suited the english far more than the eastern europeans
  20. What did he do then ? Wore a loud shirt in a built up area, which is a hangeable offence in England still
  21. Behave. Was it an insult to the Czech Republic to pick a German rider? Its all about making it financially secure.I would say the vast majority of Slovenian fans will go because Matej Zagar is riding and i think has a good chance of going through into the main event, etc.I hope he does. But Santej is not likely to either go far or to learn and develope from the experience if he was in previous G.P's and hasn`t developed. The fact that another rider from a foreign country might help turn a loss into a profit might help the future of the G.P and Slovenian speedway as a whole. It could be Emiliano Sanchez or Hauzinger if there are enough potential fans from those countries that would go.The fact is Bavaria is one of the richest areas in Europe(at least until Boris Becker lost most of his money to his wife and girlfriends )and it is a speedway area and near Slovenia. The people travelling from Bavaria are likely to spend lots of money in Krsko(hotels, food)which will help local business and get powerfull friends for the speedway promoters. Of course this has to be weighed up with the message it sends to young Slovenian riders. But who knows in a few years time maybe Jurica Pavlic will be getting a wild card
  22. Thats my point, will he bring more of a crowd than Ferjan? And if politics means that they won`t pick Ferjan would he bring more of a crowd than picking a German rider like they did in Prague.Especially one from Bavaria
