there are liveish updates at www.speedway.org in the chat room http://www.speedway.org/ergebnisse/2004/lonigo/index.html

Still doesn`t answer why the t.v coverage starts half way through the meeting. They obviously see the first half as a warmup for the main part. Its only the elimination heats and the semi`s and Final that matter.I don`t see it as that simple either.Basically i had only seen one meeting in 10 years before i saw a repeat of the German G.P.I knew a few of the riders such as Leigh Adams,Rickarsson,Loram, but even i found it a bit hard to follow. The use of standard race jackets instead of national colours doesn`t help.
-
Why does the Eurosport coverage generally start around heat 13 then,if there are no dead heats.Even the speedway star calls heat 13 a warm up heat Scrap it
-
If thats true its about the funniest thing he ever did apart from attacking Parky Still the residents of Poole would still buy tickets, dead or not
-
Thinking about it Sutton was a bit of a Kiwi outpost as Ronnie Moore,Briggo,Geoff Mardon and Trevor Redmond at one time all shared a house there.Don`t know if one or more of them was involved in the formation but would guess it some Dons riders were involved
-
remember before the Internationale that there was a Cycle Speedway match.Bert Harkins and Ivan Mauger racing i think.Never went myself. Fished the programme out for the Footie and it was the speedway riders X1 vs.Journo`s/Showbusiness.Speedway team inc Martin Ashby,John Davis,Terry Betts,Ray Wilson and Slim Jim Tebby.Says in prog that the team was formed in Sutton 1958
-
This is speedway and anything can be sorted with a little amalgamation ala Nordic-British Final, etc.Just need a Mitropa-British cup
-
went to one for Ronnie Moore.think it was mostly journalists,Phil Rising was playing as was the Dons machine examiner against Celebs, including George Layton(Dr in the House) and Robin Asquith(Confesions of....)

I have been to Coatbridge,Lioness and a great time i had in Phil Coles bar Also been to Moodiesburn,Cleland,Carfin,Shotts....think i drank Buckie in all of them :unsure:Nothing quite compares with a mug of coffee and square sausage in a Scottish roll at 6 in the morning down the Barras followed by a trip across the road to the Sarry Head for a pint of shammy, followed much later by a win for the Bhoys(now officially the best team in the world according to F.I.F.A) When did you live in Balham then
-
I`m now living in Germany if the price still goes for postage here then i will send the money off. Pass on my condolences when you speak to Briggo. He was one of my heroes in my younger days.It doesn`t surprise me what you said about the Golden Greats meeting,he was simply a star and one of the best there was at promoting the sport to the outside world.
-
I would definitely be interested in the badges, but what is a nominal charge Any news on Briggo.Heard the sad news about his wife.Is he still involved in speedway at all?
-
so ,the further news is, its still not sold out,eh Just hope Rod Hull and his Emu are not playing Poole that week as it really would be heaving. Now that would be sold out in days
-
I thought there was some crazy permission from the council to only ride on Saturdays ,but the Control Board would only give them permission to race on Sundays or the other way round
-
they sound awful! (looks for a throwing up smilie ) Never been to Scotland Shazzy? A square sausage sarnie and a bottle of Buckie is haute cuisine

German Speedway in Speyer Area?
iris123 replied to Diamond Exile's topic in International World of Speedway
Hi Diamond Exile,i`ve been to a few Bundesliga meetings and they are o.k.Being 4.T.T racing which imo can`t compare with the usual team format.Unluckily i think Diedenbergen have a meeting at the end of July so you just miss it.Could be worth taking up GSF`s offer to see a new track in action. @GSF What are the plans for the new track? Are you going to hold open meetings or do you have plans to enter the Bundesliga eventually. Is Gerd Riss involved at all -
Also in the Longtrack GP series i think

EC pairs semifinal 1, Terenzano 19.6.
iris123 replied to tomazpozrl's topic in International World of Speedway
I think its all about survival. Most tracks have only a few meetings a year and i guess they need a (meaningful )competition to attract both fans and sponsors.I`m not sure how many miss Swedish matches ,or if there is a problem in Poland either, just this constant(30 years or more)in Britain.I think for too long the promoters failed to see that the speedway world was changing and the grip they had on the sport was loosening. They failed to cope with the fact that Europeans could get back for meetings in their own country, whereas before a foreigner mainly meant someone from the southern hemisphere who was here for the season. When the British promoters employ someone from the continent they know what that entails. At least they should do after all this time. They have a choice not to employ them .Its rather funny to see this problem still being discussed so long after the Swedish ban, etc. Can`t say i`m entirely surprised though
