Denmark U21 V Sweden U21
iris123 replied to TwoMinuteWarning's topic in International World of Speedway
Match was changed to Korskro Results Denmark 59 H.Moller (1,2,3,2,1*)9+1 P.Hougaard (3,3,1*,3,2*)12+2 K.Jakobsen (3,0,0,2*)5+1 L.Madsen (1,3,3,3,3)13 S.Andersen (1,1,1,0)3 N.Klindt (3,0,3,3,2)11 J.Kristiansen (1,2*,1,2*)6+2 Sweden 37 E.Andersson (2,3,1*,0,1,0)7+1 R.Kling (0,2,2,0,3,3)10 S.Bengtsson (2,3,1*,2,1,1)10+1 V.Bergstöm (0,0,0,0)0 R/R R.Törnqvist (0,1,2,1)4 R.Pettersson (2,2*,2,0,0,Ret)6+1 Track was wet and with constant drizzle didn't dry out.Meeting suffered consequently and was mostly settled from the gate. Edit:seems i got the result of the last heat wrong and Madsen won,not Hougaard. Have changed it.Must admit to being confused on this as i remember Hougaard shooting from the gate and Madsen was in third place. He made one of the few passes in the meeting and thought it ended that way.Was though distracted by someone asking me in Danish if this was the last heat. -
So tell us,who would you choose....Charlie?

German team C.Hefenbrock R.Schäfer M.Smolinski T.Stange T.Kroner Not the best team,as M.Schultz and M.Wolter have chosen to ride in the Bundesliga meeting at Stralsund. -
Tough decision to be made.Gjedde,Iversen or Bjerre

Well i would like to know what Ray remembers of Bob Paulson. As kids me and a few mates used to wait in the pits after the meetings at Plough Lane and get autographs from anyone coming out with wet hair:Our way of telling who was a rider, though i'm not too sure it was fool-proof.Anyway one time aftera Sheffield meeting this bloke came out mad as a hatter and started calling me "the wizard".I've still got his autograph signed "to the wizard".Just want to know was this a one-off or was he always so wacky

Maybe he is feeling time is not on his side?Guess he knows how he is feeling and to give him the benefit of the doubt from what i have seen of his results so far he has been right up there with Barth and Riss.I hope he manages another 5 great meetings, wins the title and bows out as Champ One thing is for sure Robert Barth will go reluctantly down under -

I agree with that.If all works out i will be going to one of the Denmark v Sweden U21 tests next weekend. There were a series of G.B v Germany U15 tests, what happened there. They were supposed to come over here and then it was cancelled.Nothing ever arranged since. To an extent i guess Britains isolated position, both mentally and geographically hinders the movement of riders. Its much easier for Scandanavian riders to ride in the other countries league.Even at a junior level this is happening.Have also been to a few meetings here in Germany where Danish juniors have been riding.Think the league set up is also better for juniors.Having been to a superleague meeting the other week, the youngsters are in the team alongside the likes of Nicki Pedersen,Iversen, etc but they don't race against them much.I would think this enables them to learn what it takes to get to the top without being under too much pressure.Must say i prefered the British League set up of the 70's say where a youngster from the National league would get reserve opportunities in the top league quite quickly if he showed promise. Anyway i was planning on going to the Junior Team quali in Denmark, but i can't see Norway,Ukraine and without Schlein, Australia putting a stop to the young Danes,so ...

Was also involved in the short-lived Wembley Lions return in the 70's wasn't he?
-
Hahahah There was me thinking this raceway tavern was the speedway equivalent of Belmarsh Prison, high security surounded by a moat,etc...when all he has to do is walk up there and ask him.Bit bashful VV,i'm sure he won't bite.Couple of tips, get someone else to go up and ask him for you.Or,why not send a note to the track announcer to do an interview with him.
-
Simple solution if you see him most weeks is to ask him,or is that too hard
-
Agree Chris.Unfortunately speedway isn't such a popular sport i suppose that tracks are tripping over each other wanting to stage such meetings.Wild-cards are a neccesary evil i guess.Judging from what was said about a previous meeting this season in Austria,Wallner is needed at meetings to ensure the Austrian fans turn up.Whenever a meeting is run without him the attendance is poor. Will make for a farce though if one semi gets 8 qualifiers and the other 7,but maybe thats why one semi is weaker
-
Same as you Tomaz,i can only think that they were hoping he would qualify through the rounds. That would solve the problem, but they have the "safety net" so to speak of having an Austrian rider in the final.Still can't work out what will happen in the semi's if one rider has already qualified. The top 8 from both can't also go through.Thats speedway

Don't know about the rest, but Kennett and an Italian seed will ride in Lonigo. The other 2 seeds are in Tarnow.Fritz Wallner is seeded into the final, even though he finished with 0? due to a bad crash.Think thats right although i'm not sure how it works giving Austria a seed in the Final and 8 from both semi's qualifying as well
-
It's hard to disagree with him there.
-
f-s-p,on that i agree.Erik Andersson can feel unlucky, probably in any other meeting he would have qualified no trouble.Saw him a couple of times last season and he was good. But it gets even more confusing, because Klaus Jakobsen was in (Austria?)another round.Maybe it is because of the strength of Scandinavian speedway. If they were all mixed in with the rest the final would mostly be a Scandinavian line-up with a few others.Looking forward to the U21 test Denmark v Sweden at Grinsted next month
