  1. Of course you can never say for certain, but i would go along with the idea that the GP's has taken a World title from Gollob.
  2. Interesting what he says in Backtrack.Would congratulate Tony if he wins this year, but after this year as there isn't anyway of qualifying he doesn't consider it to be a World Championship and shouldn't be called one.Just an invitation series.
  3. Bloody hell, that was quick.Got my mag today
  4. Well there is some news on the Hungarian site.Unfortunately my Hungarian is as good as my Swahili,so can't confirm either way
  5. And i was expecting to see him ride tomorrow at Stralsund along with his fellow countrymen Magosi and Ferjan(?).
  6. Not 100% sure, but thought 1937 World Champ Jack Milne and his brother Cordy could have rode for Scotland as their father was Scottish
  7. Indeed Ian can't argue with that. Was just trying to cover myself.Thought he was from Scotland, although he only qualified for the 39 final, but it never took place. He also rode in the Star riders championship which was the equivalent, but not actually the World Championship. I thought if i said Ken,then someone(Norbold)would say,no Ron Johnson. If i said Ron Johnson, someone(Norbold) would say.well he didn't actually ride, just qualified
  8. Norbold,i wasn't sure if for instance one of the Aussie riders was from Scotland originally.Ron Johnson, etc
  9. This is speedway, anything goes.Guess it ensures they race on a familiar track.Personally i was thinking they wouldn't enter next year. The team is getting on a bit,the american authorities ain't too keen on spending money for things they ain't going to win.The squad has little depth to it,so one key injury and they are struggling.A trip to an eastern european country where the chances are they will go out are quite high. This is probably their best bet.
  10. Ken McKinlay was Scottish and rode in 56.Don't know for sure if he was the first though.
  11. Phew thats good news,i thought it would be a financial disaster if GB were not in it
  12. In football teams such as Jamaica and Australia have used Britain as a base. They do have large populations there though to support the teams. What happens if GB are not in the U.S round? How well will it be supported,i wonder. If all goes well though maybe they will have a GP round there
  13. They also got it wrong in Cardiff as well then.Didn't see the ad(probably the same one at both venues),but in the programme from Copenhagen there are no dates, just a couple of page adverts. The web site for the run off tickets is www.e-ticket.pl.Try there
  14. You could always try here.I can always scan and send the page on Zoltan Adorjan from the 85 World Final programme. Or here maybe
  15. Thanks tommy What is your(or general)opinion on the situation in the 2nd league, with regards to the foreign clubs joining.I see Krakow had problems and from what was reported part was the travel to Latvia/Ukraine.Last year it was reported that the Polish clubs had to hand over money at the border to get through. Can the second league carry on like this or will all the clubs have trouble surviving with this format?
  16. Thanks Leliwa. Was just wondering if all these "off track" problems are affecting Tomek's form.Having seen him in Copenhagen,he really looks a shadow of the rider he was a couple of years back. What with the Bajerski incident,is that finished?
  17. Thanks Steve.Unfortuanately the flight from Lübeck to Skavsta gets in at 17:05 if on time,so its really tight, time wise. Can't see me making Eskilstuna for the 18:00 bus to the stadium.Look at other ways.Or maybe go for the SWC round, can still get the book
  18. Just flicking through the latest BSA and there is a piece on T.Gollob and his father being in trouble with the Polish authorities for tax fraud(i think) .Anyone know more about this?Has it already been settled?
  19. Seen that next week is the launch of the Tommy Jansson book at the Smederna v Vargarna meeting.Just wondered if one of the Swedish fans could help out with the prices so i know roughly how much to bring if i go.What does the train from Stockholm(or Nykoping if i go with Ryanair) cost. And does anyone know what the book costs? Also any idea what the line-up will be,don't have to be exact just a good guess
  20. Don't get vsm so maybe already done him,but what about Olle Nygren.Fantastic rider and there aren't many riders, even British that have done so much to help develope young talent.
  21. Quite a good summing up,there.Must say the GP experience just isn't my thing.Only been once before,at Vojens.Got a ticket in advance, had to queue up for ever to get it.This time didn't bother with an booking in advance, had to queue up for ages.If they were selling tickets somewhere else i don't know but at the end i was they only had one window open until just before the start.Guess you couldn't complain about the view anywhere in the stadium, but as Subedei says,i thought the racing was boring. Most of the action was when someone made a mistake and fell. There was a great buzz in the stadium every time Nicki came out though! The thing with the tapes was ameteurish....As for the first heat, can't agree that few people saw that. They tapes were hanging there and by about the second lap a large section of the crowd were booing the fact the ref hadn't stopped the race.Rickardsson is the greatest rider of the GP era, without doubt and i have now seen him win at both GP's and probably win the title at both as well.Would say though that it is hard to compare riders from the Pre-GP era.Under this system, how many World titles would Mauger have won?O.K Olsen,Michanek,PC,etc would have won GP's but Mauger would have been Champ a helluva lot more times than he was.Under this system i doubt Szczakiel would have been more than a track reserve at any. Afterwards, was witness to 2 groups of supporters trying to kick seven bells out of each other,so glad i didn't take my family with me.And can't say that it impressed me that the transport system at a National stadium seems to grind to a halt after such an event. At the local football stadium there are a fleet of shuttle busses waiting to ferry people away from the stadium to the underground, why not at a GP?All in all,not value for money, and i won't be rushing to go again
  22. Can't understand what the problem is?Rickardsson is having a fantastic GP season, enjoy it.Lets not try and penalise a great rider for getting it right.Personally i liked the system used in Germany last year where the points from the first 20 heats and the semi's were added to find the 4 best scorers who go through to the final. That meant someone who had a 15 point max could still make the final if something went wrong in the semi, but lets not keep changing all the time.
  23. Would also be interested to know if there will be much in the way of souvenirs on sale?Couldn't get a Nicki P cap at Holsted as the bloke wasn't there for the Superliga meeting i went to Will be getting to Copenhagen in the afternoon and leaving the family in the hotel
  24. Thats good to know, about my Danish Will be at Slangerup on sunday, but probably only for the Superliga meeting. Not sure if my family would like it if i disappear for the whole weekend.
