Do these other sports have various rounds for the one meeting ? I. e different heats where all the points are then over ridden ? Or is it just like F1 one race and so the winner is the winner. They don’t have carious heats then a semi and a final in F1, so no comparison. I am interested which sports you are talking about

Great idea. I'd guess US style track racing or even Board racing would be the ideal sport, with a story around it. Not sure, but has there ever been a Hollywood film that features board racing at all ?

The stories and photos are very emotive. It is wonderful that some of our heroes, even those we didn't see are still remembered. Tommy Jansson was my favourite as a teenager. Still remembered to this day, even though I don't recall (as one ex-scribe stated) that they never heard people talking about him a decade or so later Definitely one I would like to pop back and watch if they ever get a time machine on the market before I pop my clogs

Same thing I heard from someone in Pardubice. Ask someone there about speedway and they don't know what you are talking about generally. But ask someone about Zlata Prilba and most know -

When I mention speedway to my Polish colleagues, they think I am talking about Auto racing.....boom !! I have more A woman walks into the Doctors Doctor," she complains, "I'm hurting everywhere!" "What do you mean?" the doctor asks. "Everywhere I touch hurts!" she yelled. Bewildered, the doctor inspects her, but sees nothing wrong anywhere. "But my knee hurts," she said, touching her knee. "My chest hurts," she said, touching her chest. "Even my cheek hurts!" she shouted, touching her cheek. After a moment of silence, the doctor said, "Ma'am, you have a broken finger." -

No problem. I was just pointing out back then that the numbers were rising. At least of cases and that it seems is all it takes our and other governments to start putting in quarantine restrictions -

Daugavpils have an advantage in that there is no league in Latvia and so no, BSPA/SCB that could veto the project on the grounds it will have a negative effect on their home league That is the scenario that happened here in Hamburg, when our local Ice Hockey team folded. A franchise wanted to set up a team to play in the Russian Continental League or whatever it is called. This was turned down by the German ice hockey federation, because of the possible negative effect to the Bundesliga.... -
I have seen the sad news that Jan, former Cradley rider and father of Frederik has died of cancer at a fairly early age. Born in 1965 http://www.cradleyspeedway.co.uk/riders/jakobsen.htm I had seen him a few times helping Frederik out when he was doing 85cc and also when he was team manager of Vojens last time they were in the Danish Superliga. A nice cheerful guy https://fyens.dk/artikel/jan-jakobsen-bliver-holdleder-i-vojens-2008-10-13

The car her husband was involved in to some extent was up for auction last year. Some nice pics of the restored car. Seem to have got the two Ronnie's mixed up though https://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1955-allard-atom-speedway-racer

German Bundesliga fixtures 2020
iris123 replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Seems now the German U21 championship in Olching and the German Championship in Stralsund have been cancelled for this season. -
It has always been a bit like that. As I stated before Lubos Tomicek was about 1 ride away. Kyle Legault was also into the Vojens final But this year is an extreme

Yes, I was reading a few months back about someone who worked in Hollywood and filmed lots of stuff, including speedway in the USA back in the 30s. The film or some of it was shown to a get together with Jack and Cordy Milne among others in the 60s, just a few weeks before Wilbur Lamoreaux died. Would be great to see, but so far I haven't seen anything surface on the net. Like you say there must have been lots of footage, just hope some still survives

I was wondering if it might be Antti Pasti

But you must remember his name, surely? I mean all Finns have incredibly rememberable names

Yes, and Dave is Australian

I did start a thread with this some months back. Didn't get much response though.....
